PFW power rankings

Editors rank the teams heading into Week Two

Sept. 9, 2008

1 Dallas Cowboys
Power shift puts them on top heading into huge Monday-nighter.

2 Pittsburgh Steelers
Willie Parker not going away quietly.

3 New York Giants
Defense reminded people it still is an elite unit.

4 San Diego Chargers
They started out 1-3 and 5-5 last season.

5 Philadelphia Eagles
Stats gained vs. Rams should be halved for fantasy purposes.

6 Indianapolis Colts
Hey, how about that gorgeous stadium?

7 New England Patriots
Matt Cassel jerseys selling by the dozens now.

8 Green Bay Packers
Had to like what they saw from the Lions’ opener.

9 Jacksonville Jaguars
Derrick Harvey worked on his hands while holding out.

10 New Orleans Saints
Those cornerbacks didn’t look too bad after all.

11 Minnesota Vikings
Short week to prepare for angry Colts.

12 Carolina Panthers
Chris Harris is a tough hombre.

13 Tennessee Titans
Vince Young suffered from lack of heart before injuring knee.

14 Cleveland Browns
Braylon Edwards said Dallas game would be measuring stick.

15 Arizona Cardinals
Travis LaBoy’s hair looks like Andy Gibb’s in the Spirits ’79 tour.

16 New York Jets
Brett Favre has “chuck it and get lucky” part of playbook down cold.

17 Buffalo Bills
Are they the best special-teams club of the past decade?

18 Seattle Seahawks
Are they the worst special-teams club currently?

19 Chicago Bears
Forté comes from the French word for strength. No joke.

20 Denver Broncos
Watched Chiefs, Chargers suffer injuries, heartache.

21 Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Reggie Bush ran where Derrick Brooks wasn’t.

22 Houston Texans
Defense appeared gassed mid-second quarter.

23 Baltimore Ravens
How about Joe Flacco — the runner and blocker?

24 Atlanta Falcons
Turner-Ryan see even bigger jump in polls than McCain-Palin.

25 Washington Redskins
Jim Zorn looked like he wasn’t a head coach before.

26 Cincinnati Bengals
Nueve was muy malo against the Ravens.

27 Oakland Raiders
Desperate for wide receivers these days.

28 Miami Dolphins
Being in position to win no solace for improved team.

29 San Francisco 49ers
J.T. O’Sullivan threw well but fumbled twice.

30 Kansas City Chiefs
Lest we forget Dwayne Bowe’s four catchable drops.

31 St. Louis Rams
New drinking game: Do a shot every time they allow a first down.

32 Detroit Lions
Fix one problem, another one is right around the corner.

The Bills, NO and Broncos should be higher

Forced Fumble late in 3rd quarter on the Hawks kickoff

Moorman booming punts in the rain

Also don't see how the Eagles could be so high...

While they are a good team they blew out a JV squad

Seattle is too high. Their offense is in shambles with injuries and I don't think their defense is going to be able to keep them a contender.
