View Full Version : T.I. Paper Trail

I figured since Tha Carter 3 got it's own thread and seeing as how I got an advanced copy and this CD is like 10 times better than Tha Carter (JMHO) I figured I'd start a thread on it. BTW of all the 16 songs the best song is (again, JMHO) Swagger Like Us Feat. Kanye West, Jay-Z, and Lil Wayne.
Also it drops Sept. 30th.

This doesn't deserve its own thread.
Can someone lock this *****?

T.I. should never get his own thread. Maybe you got him confused with someone that has the reverse initials that does?
Bruce
09-11-2008, 09:23 AM
Why the hate? Paper Trail is significantly better than Tha Carter 3.
T.I. > Lil Wayne. My favorite rapper from the south. In reality the Carter 3 didn't deserve its own thread either but I understand your logic behind making this its own thread.

Nope, this CD still isn't good enough to have it's own thread.

Well Jeezy is my favorite rapper currently out right now (if Eminem makes his supposed comeback it'll change though). So maybe I'm biased but I like Jeezy because he's raps about the streets, the struggle, and things like that. I'm tired of hearing the dance ******** they call rap. I want to hear about real issues and Jeezy does do that.
I thought his first two were very good but I like this one the most. Raps a lot about politics (especially Obama), talks about the economy, and things like that.
The songs I recommend off the album are;
Put On (I'm sure most of you have heard it by now)
My President (best song of the CD, period, epic)
Everything
Taken' It There
Crazy World
Get Allot
By the Way
Vacation
Amazin'
Welcome Back
Not saying that the other ones aren't good but I like those. My 5 favorites are Put On, My President, Everything, Amazin, and By the Way.

Also, Plies is a up and coming rapper. Yeah he gets too much on the sex talk, but he talks about the streets a lot. Putting out 3 albums in almost 18 months is a nice acomplishment.

I saw him two weeks ago at IU, and he gave us a sample song it was sick. However when he talked about being done after LupEND, I believed him.
He is doing a collab project with Kanye and Pharrell called Child Rebel Soldier. Get a taste of them on the Everyone Nose remix. It is pretty good, I like Kanye's and Pharrell's the best.
He is too damn good to walk away this early in my opinion. I don't think any other hip hop artists runs around as much as he does. He doesn't just strut like most "OG rappers". While I listen to some of their music, I wouldn't pay to see them.

My thoughts on Southern rap being from Houston, and living very close to ATL it is practically all everyone plays.
Paper Trail is gonna be a very good album, I haven't heard the entire cd yet, but I have heard many of the tracks on there. T.I. vs. T.I.P. was a very good album, and I expect Paper Trail to be good, but to contain more of a mainstream quality.
Tha Carter 3 was a terrible album. The only good song on it was Let the Beat Build and that's mainly just because of the beat. Honestly he can put together a funny verse and is decently witty, but most of the time his rhymes DON'T rhyme. If you want to listen to rap that is full of one liners and is witty check out Binary Star because they actually put together verses that rhyme. His style is unique though and that is what gets him so much attention.
The Recession is alright. The production for the songs is very similar and it is hard to listen to the album all the way through because of it. While he does rap about current events which I like his wordplay isn't that great, and certainly is not better than T.I.

No doubt. I love Dre but there is something to say for guys like Weezy and Pac who can finish a full album in a week. You can only listen to 2001 so many times before you get sick of it so it's nice to have a bigger body of work.

I really didn't like The Carter 3, at all. Some songs were good but the rest of it was garbage.
Listened to LAX and I've gotta say The Game is still very underrated. Doesn't get a lot of pub because he's not very mainstream but I like his wordplay.
My favorite Jeezy album is still The Inspiration. I'm probably in the minority as a lot of people like his original one, and this one has been getting a lot of press but I really like his 2nd one. Jeezy is a mainstream rapper but as far as those guys go he's my favorite. Just personal a personal preference.

Paper Trail was too much hater talk for me. Wordplays weren't anything special for me Carter 3 tore this cd apart. Half of the songs on this cd are about how people should hate on...blah blah blah....I need more out of the lyrics to really enjoy it...on a side note I can't wait till silk scarfs are popular if that happens.
