View Full Version : Players you'd want in your "fox hole"?

Who are the players you'd want in your "fox hole" for key plays, situations, and games? This doesn't necessarily mean they are the best players in the league, but they possess a combination of work ethic, leadership, toughness, clutch play, and overall just exemplify what a football player should be. Don't include players who are or were on your favorite team(s), just players who are not affiliated. Also, for positions with multiple players, such as WR1, 2, 3, make sure the player you are choosing is at that position on the depth chart. For example, WR3 shouldn't be Terrell Owens, as he's his team's number one receiver. With that said, here's the template:

QB -
RB1 -
RB2 -
FB -
WR1 -
WR2 -
WR3 -
TE -
LT -
LG -
C -
RG -
RT -

LE -
DT -
NT -
RE -

MLB -
ROLB -

DT - John Henderson... wait. No. He'd take up too much room.

Ike Hilliard.

Adam Vinaterie. He was just to clutch to pass on him in a tight situation.

Even though I have a dislike for some of the players (Porter and Merriman) on this team, this is who I think I'd want on my side in a key moment:

QB - Jake Delhomme, Panthers
RB1 - Marion Barber III, Cowboys
RB2 - Chester Taylor, Vikings
FB - Lorenzo Neal, Ravens
WR1 - Terrell Owens, Cowboys
WR2 - Marvin Harrison, Colts
WR3 - Mike Furrey, Lions
TE - Jason Witten, Cowboys
LT - Walter Jones, Seahawks
LG - Brian Waters, Chiefs
C - Jeff Saturday, Colts
RG - Shawn Andrews, Eagles
RT - John Runyan, Eagles

LE - Aaron Kampman, Packers
DT - Pat Williams, Vikings
NT - Jamal Williams, Chargers
RE - Justin Tuck, Giants
LOLB - Joey Porter, Dolphins
MLB - Ray Lewis, Ravens
MLB - Zach Thomas, Cowboys
ROLB - Shawne Merriman, Chargers
CB - Al Harris, Packers
CB - Antonio Cromartie, Chargers
CB - Aqib Talib, Buccaneers
FS - Brian Dawkins, Eagles
SS - Troy Polamalu, Steelers

K - Ryan Longwell, Vikings
P - Brian Moorman, Bills

You would want Marvin Harrison when it matters?? That does not make any sense to me, he always chokes in the playoffs.

No, he is just a scheme-able receiver. Teams with good enough defenses are able to take him out.

I don't consider him a choking because to me choking would imply that he was thrown to very often or that he dropped big passes.

Kellen Winslow at tight end, and its one of the reasons hes my favorite player.

The guy is clutch (See West Virginia 4th down) and has some of the best for a player I've seen...

Also wouldn't mind Gonzalez in a key situation.

EDIT: Oh yeah and I want David Tyree and Eli Manning.

Master of Clutch = Brady

I hate him like nothing else, but he just is the master of it

He's an excellent quarterback. He also had a pretty excellent game in the Super Bowl. He's gotta be one of the most underrated, toughest guys in the league at QB.

Super Bowl: 323 yards, 3 TDs

I didn't include any Patriots or ex-Patriots, except Vinatieri, who I'm going to remove now that I noticed that. I would have included Brady and probably Welker (WR3), Vrabel for current players.

I don't know if I could handle an NFL player in my fox hole, they'd probably be a little too big for me. I might have room for Paris Hilton though.

Yeah hard not to want Brady after what he has done. Tank Johnson would be my pick. Anything goes wrong he can just hose em down.

Or is it because he's "a ******* soldier?"

i don't know how you don't include vrabel. the dude is apparently invisible on offense. it amazes me everytime he's sent in on the goalline that defensive coordinators/players are too ******* stupid to remember to cover him. i've never seen him anything less than absolutely wide open.

True. I didn't include Vrabel because he's a Patriot, but I would otherwise.

Give me Kevin Faulk all day...I trust him in the clutch, he will make the catch and know what to do to get the 1st down, even being so small he protects the QB like one of the best in the game, if there is a 2 minute offense and we need to score I want him on the field...I have been calling Marion Barber our Kevin Faulk for some time because he just does all those little things that go un noticed some what but are so important.

You know if Kevin Faulk had been in the game, Brady would still be playing...
