I love Bell, watched the first season of VM religiously, but her character really hasn't been been very impressive in season 2. Love to see her on screen, but that character is just lacking, outside of her "games" with peter while he was locked up. I've liked this show but I hope in the next season they show how ordinary people re-act to having gods around them, that's what i've felt has been really lacking from hollywoods superhero obsession.

umm i think there will be more villains this season. just looking at the Theme "Villains" and the trailers it could be good vs bad this time for real and not only sylar. And i somehow have the feeling that sylar wont be all that bad

I can't wait for Heroes to start again. It's easily my favourite show - a villain thats worse than Sylar would be badass.

To you guys who wanted a run down, I dont know if its spoiler or not, but incase someone is going to watch season 2.
Peter stopped the virus from spreading
Hiro put Adam in a coffin
Claire'n family is reunited (i think)
Claires dad has to work for the company again
Nathan Petrelli gets shot while trying to go public w/ his powers
Nikki runs into fire...looks like explosion
Maya gets back to life after being shot by sylar
Sylar is back.
I think that runs most things down.

My opinion
I really don't think Tracy and Nikki are the same person. Seriously, she was in New Orleans doing her thing last season and now all of a sudden she's in New York doing the whole political advisor thing. You can tell based on the dialogue that she's been around that Governor for awhile and the events of season 3 are supposed to be immediately after season 2. The timing is off for Nikki and Tracy to be the same person. With that said I'm interested to find out more about Tracy
giantsfan
09-24-2008, 01:34 AM
Nikki, tracy and all those other personalities are just the result of her split personality disorder, however unlike as what was surmised in earlier episodes this isn't as simply as human to nikki. I think that through this season Nikki's various personalities will make appearances, each having a unique power so that she has to finally get a true handle on her powers.
Now Nikki very well could have slept her way into the governors office fairly quickly although i'm going to propose a crazy explanation, her abilities are so power that some of the split personalities escaped her body and so they are familiar with her memories, which is why Tracy seemed to recognize and trust Nathan, but are split of individuals.
My thoughts on the Premier:
The first episode was a slow and dragged at points, granted they had to get the audience back into Heroes mentality, but still the second half was significantly more impressive and I liked where they seemed to be going with the characters, eliminating the childish good versus evil of the first season and replacing it with a more harsh and realistic representation where the great strife drives friends apart, makes good people do bad things and sometimes forces people to turn to a bad guy to capture a greater evil.

That personality wasn't named Tracy.
According to wikipedia
It is revealed in "Four Months Ago..." that Jessica is not Niki's only personality. A third personality emerges: Gina, a pseudonym Niki assumed when she ran away to L.A. when she was younger.

Peter and Sylar are twins. Both have the ability to take powers from others, in their own prospective ways. Kind of works its way into the evil brother vs good brother.

well next week is a future episode, and I don't particularly like future episodes except Claire looks especially hot and it proves that Suresh turns into a giant bag of douche with the formula to give anyone powers
and does this mean Matt can see the future now or is it just because of what he was eating?
But Sylar dicking around while being "the good guy" is absolutely hilarious and I can't wait to see what happens to him in the future.

It may be just what he was eating, but that would be to goofy. The whole 2nd season was about evolution, and how the powers can advance (aka Matt getting more powerful). I would think that plays into it, maybe the food was a facilitator.
And suresh, I like him now because he manned up and took Maya to the house.
I was so FREAKING mad at Micah being in the episode. I hate him so much. "You're not my mom". what a little b itch. I was getting all happy that Tracy would "accidentially" freeze him.
On that note, Tracy was created? Thats a twist. I have no theories about that. Anyone?

I think that there was some kind of single prototype that all of the current Nikki/Tracy/identities were spanned from so that there's some type of greater connection between them.

really? I usually hate the future episodes, but this was by far the best out of all of them and was a good all around episode imo
we find out that there are split sides in the future fighting eachother, you see how everyone has kinda intertwined, you see that Peter is going to have to battle the 'hunger' for the rest of the season, they leave you with Hiro bringing back Adam and the cliffhanger is who this mysterious other party with the formula is, Nathan ***** Tracy...I think this episode was definitely better than last week.

What I really wonder at this point is how does Adam factor into their plans with the formula?

i guess he somehow knows how the formula works or kinda has knowledge about the others.
Season 2 was kinda nice, getting to know to the company more, the Writers Strike just really crippled it.

I thought the episode was ******* tremendous. The season really seems like it will end up being great. I thought the end with Adam coming back was awesome. I think his character was misused in season 2 and as the original Hero I am interested to see what they do with him. I find it funny how it is always Peter who is screwing up and causing the downfall of everything. He is the most powerful man in the world so I think they use him perfectly. Sylar as always was brilliant. I am excited to see more of Marlo from The Wire as his character is great. I most of all enjoy how this season is proving what I have always know, Elle is a far greater character than Claire.

that would certainly make sense with the development of Sylar as a brother, Mrs. P heading the company, and the fact that it is someone all the older people seem to know because he is the key to understanding the formula

I honestly don't think his powers are anything like the Parkman's. That'd be too many people with similar powers in the same group. I think they go for some variety and give him a power we aren't used to seeing.

I love the show but I don't want it turning into the standard mainstream good guys always make it, bad guys always stopped. I want good guys dying and being replaced by new characters or the story focusing on some of the villains, I just think that'd really help them establish a dynasty caliber show and keep it from stagnating, it's how the wire has stayed gripping and fresh. And how the Wildcards have been able to take this same general idea and keep it flowing for 20 some volumes.

I meant more central characters getting killed off, just so the show doesn't focus in on Claire, Hiro and the Petrellis in a world where the next stage in evolution is happening but rather on the world as a whole, I guess I'm just hoping the formula gets out and the writers aren't as limited in their choices for protaganists because this show has a lot the can do with it and I'd hate to see them get stale and start treading down the same old pattern of confused first few episodes, the major villain appears around 4 episodes in and from there someone saves the world.

I would like to see other plotlines as well, but look at what happened when they focused on Mya's story or Peter's when he was in Ireland. While the latter involved a main character, when the show went off on tangents that didn't involve the central plot it got really old really quickly. So, if they can find a way to expand without doing that, I'd be all for it.

I think what you're missing is that along with the wire they blur the lines of who or what is good and bad. There are bad cops and good bad guys almost. I think as long as you keep that dichotomy within many characters and avoid the all evil or all good which i believe they have done now with Peter, Sylar, and even showing bubbles as a bad guy who made a mistake shows that all sides make mistakes and problems.

Well they are gradually bringing in more and more characters that are doing different things on the show. I'm having a mental block right now, so you will have to bare with me. Samurai guy who Hiro put in coffin was introduced last season, as was Maya, and "Speedster" Not to mention, Nikki is dead and her ohter sister (name) is a part of the storyline now. I like that they're showing both the good and evil, to simplify things, sides to many of the characters. But what makes the wire so real is that people die and die for good so you're more involved with the characters because you truly believe that a given character could be gone for good.
I like where they're going I just wish they had done this last season so this season they could expand past their original focus of characters. Can anyone explain to me why Citizen Kane is considered like the second greatest movie of all time? the fact that everyone thought that only Nathan could see Linderman by some act of god, then Speedster could see him, then you find out Mr. P was using Mr. Parkman to do so was a very intense plot line...Mohinder sucks, but him turning into a villain is interesting...and obviously you missed the future predicted by Mrs. P and that Mr. P is going to become "alive" again and start the coalition of "bad guys" and turn the formula public, which Peter is going to have to stop

I finally got a chance to catch up on this week's episode last night. I thought Mohinder was more of a spider than a fly. I thought it was more of a silk thread than fly vomit. Flies vomit on their food to dissolve it, while spiders make them go to "sleep" and wrap them in silk to save them until they feed.
I actually called the emergence of Mr. Petrelli into the picture. It was an obvious plot twist because he was one of the only people in that picture of the Company that wasn't explored before (off the top of my head). His back-story is something I'm interested in for sure. Why is Parkman's dad so reverential to this guy? He must be really powerful. I know he's in a coma, but Parkman can read his mind, so he doesn't have that power. He can just still think/communicate in his medical state.

I'm sure he's powerful. I mean his kids are Peter and Sylar.

I was thinking about that also. If you remember at the beginniing of season 2 as Hiro goes back to fuedal Japan, the flag that had the single helix on it. It was a subtle but important clue/link.

If this is in fact panning out to be a "war" like event with one set of "heroes" (or mutants) against another side of "heroes" (or mutants), does that make Papa P like Professor X (disability link) and if so, does that mean he is actually good?

My bet is he never committed suicide, that was just Mrs. Petrelli's explanation to the boys, the company probably tried to take him out to stop him from releasing the formula and had thought they'd succeeded and so came up with the suicide story.
Unless they start showing more heroes, this war seems to be incredibly one sided
We all know that Peter and Sylar are the two most powerful heroes and if they're on different sides, whichever of the two can kill the other will be able to lead his side to victory. Hell both are walking nukes.
I think the show is very good overall, but it's really not that deep. It is entertainment, not really social commentary. Don't read too much into it.
Definately not deep at all, there just taking an old sci-fi idea and making an entertaining show, not a thought provoking show.

I'm not saying that it is [by itself] thought provoking or meant to be taken as social commentary, but many of the ideas they are borrowing came from those works that were. So, laying there dead and undeveloped those concepts do exist.
The fact that Chandra Suresh, Mohinder's father was looking for the cure in the brain (logic) and the son has found it in the adrenal glands (emotion) is one of many undeveloped themes (logic vs. emotion).
Now remember , I'm not saying they need to develope them in order to make me happy or make the show any better. I'm just pointing out that they are there.

I hate the introduction of new characters just for the sake of killing them off. For one thing, their death is hollow since most people have no vested interest in them. Will anyone actually care if Maya dies, for example?

Sure this is a theme that they sort of show on the surface but they don't delve into it or at least haven't yet, sufficiently for it to be considered thought provoking. Sure it's alluding to something which could be thought provoking but they're not actually saying anything about it that is thought provoking.

I like them introducing new characters because it gives them the option of killing of an older character, one people will be more connected to which is why I'm hoping for some major deaths this season.

I think they're going to keep developing the story here with the rift. They always straddled the good/evil line with the companies, but now it's become more clear. There will be a battle between the companies. Looks like Papa P is a villain, but was he always evil like that? How was Linderman able to control him? What happened with his suicide? I see this as an ongoing battle all season. In the end, it will be Peter and Sylar fighting against Papa P. Big time showdown. Weird though b/c they're all immortal (at least when Peter is powered up)...

If he wanted Peter dead, he would have killed him already. Obviously, he has a bigger purpose for him. My sense is that he has the technology to give Peter his powers back (the formula), then he can take all of his other powers by being near his father. It is possible in the end that Peter can take his father's powers and kill him using his own powers against him. Once he has his powers back, he can touch his father and take it from him.

I also believe that Sylar was sent out for adoption partially to keep him away from Mr. Petrelli. Whether it's to keep him more innocent (didn't work) or to keep Mr. Petrelli from getting "the hunger", all of it was staged out.
