The tournament down in Arizona (Used to be the Pheonix Open I believe, don't know what its called anymore) gets pretty rowdy as well. That Par 3 at the end (17th?) in which grand stands surround the entire hole has been described as a big frat party. But I agree, watching this weekend is pretty unbelievable, just wish Tiger was playing. It also seems as if the star power of golfers has dropped drastically over the years, especially on the American side with players like Kim.

Wow big 3 putt by the Euros on 18. Americans up 2.5 to .5. Afternoon pairings will be huge.

I like how you put NASCAR ahead of the NFL....

*laughs*

Anyways, pretty nice morning for the USA. I can't believe Kim didn't get out of the bunker on 18. Terrible shot. That Harrington miss was HUGE. 1/2 pt salvage wasn't too bad.

I love the 4 ball format in the afternoon pairings. Could make or break the US's chances.

Not the best shot by Furyk there

Garcia is sooo nasty in this event. 13-2-1 or something?

I thought it was sawgrass that had the 17th Island hole. I am most likely wrong. oh then i realized Sawgrass is in FLA. lol

Perry/Furyk v. Westwood/Garcia was an amazing match. Ended up halved

Yep, its at Scottsdale. Sawgrass 17th, while fun to watch, isn't really that great of a hole, and the course in general is sort of putt-puttish in that its got a lot of gimmicks.

I'm scared to death because I'm playing in a charity event with three partners from my firm on Monday at a course called Aronimink Golf Club outside of Philly. Haven't played enough golf this year and this course is rated #83 in the country and has hosted a PGA Championship and a Senior PGA Championship. Should be interesting/ugly.

that 17th hole is gimmicky, yet provides entertainment.

that is awesome, I haven't played at many places. when i was younger i played all over Massachusetts. Once I get my life settled into a decent career I will be golfing alot more often.

Anyone else think that Phil needs to play with a player with a lower profile like Kim more often? I feel as though, because he's a bit of a headcase, someone he feels he doesn't have to live up to might be a good thing for him. Plus, nevermind what I said about Kim earlier, that little man is solid.

I think he needs the lower profile type like Kim as well. Also, Kim doesn't get rattled, so if Phil did lose his head Kim would be the type to make some key shots.

I am not a fan of Phil in this style of tourny, just too much of a headcase. if he fails first day his weekend is over.

It's just got to eat at Sergio that he can be cool as a cucumber at the Ryder Cup and in team play, but get him on his own and he curls up in the fetal position. Poor little Spaniard.

lol, he is amazing in the Ryder Cup. if he golfed like he does in the RC during regular play(which is vastly different, so the discrepency is understandable) he would be easily the 2nd best golfer in the world.

Even though I've been following golf for pretty much most of my life I've never gotten into the Ryder Cup. However, I never have really watched it, maybe I will this year.

Aside from the 4 majors and the Accenture Match Play this is the most enjoyable weekend in golf for me. Its a very interesting dynamic to see players that play in individual games come together and help each other out, read each others putts, high-five and everything. Plus with the influx of some younger guys on the team like Holmes, Weekley, and yes now I'm even a Kim fan, its a refreshing energy they bring to it. You can also drastically see the contrast between the Euros and Americans. The Europeans seem very stoich and not flashy, while you have young guys on the US that are pumping up the crowd and smiling.

PS: Boo has had a fat chaw in the ENTIRE round. He's like a frat guy out on the course.

The Euros have been a let down on the whole, am glad Poulter is playing well though after all the stick he has got in the press here in England.

Stricker's putt to get a half a point salvaged some momentum for the US.I thought Mahan was gonna make that eagle
