I am alittle late with this, but I held it on purpose to post it during the bye week. I may do the Bengals game this week if I can get time to see how many times they actually blitzed us. Their game plan reminded me of the Vikings last year.

I eliminated the Blitz, Coverage, and front composite this year, because quite frankly it's a pain in the ass to do. This breakdown went faster, or it seemed because I didn't have to do those composites, so I kind of like it that way. So here is the basic breakdown play by play, and the passing and running game diagrams.

we love pulling those Guards. Especially Seuburt it seems.

And whenever you draw it out, it always seems like our playbook is more vertical than I thought it was.

We don't throw lateral, we run side to side. I wish we ran more bubble screen, WR screen, and regular screen. I think it would keep defenses from blitzing. We did that very well with Smith there. You saw the Bengals do it with Chapman too. Bubble screen is one of my favorite screens. Great, great way to stop an aggressive defense. Pats did it to us in the superbowl too. Their mistake was stopping what was working.

im a huge fan of the screen pass. the Patriots offense is my favorite in the league for that very reason.

But we are terrible at running screens. Everytime i see us try, it looks terrible. We have to be the worst screen pass team in the league.

Yeah we really use it when we have 3rd and a mile. But I want to see us use alot of bubble and WR screens. Use Manningham, Smith, Hixon and Moss in those roles. Change it up during the game so teams can't lock on one guy. That will stop them from blitzing, and allow us to run the ball and pass without them constantly blitzing. And when they do start again, we run various screens and slants to get them off. Gilbride is very vanilla, no trick plays, not that many screens, and just sticks to throwing downfield. I prefer the screens and short game to open up the deep passes.

I wish we had a LT that would let Diehl be that pulling guard for us. He was filthy his last season at guard.

Look forward to the Bengals breakdown if you have the time.

Historically that's not the case. We used to always play down to our opponents level and lose. Under Fassel, we did it time, and time again.

on Sunday Night football, Tiki said if the Rams lose another game, he's going to call Fassell and try to get him the job over there.

lollercaust.

Fassel really left a bad impression. That or he must say the dumbest stuff in his interviews, because he really has been blacklisted by all teams. I hated him as a coach, but I feel bad that he can't get another job anywhere!! Even Stanford chose Harbaugh at the time over him! And now Harbaugh is the Raven's coach! hahaha.

i kind of feel bad for him. even though i wasn't the biggest fan, he'd run our offense a lot better than Gilbride does. can you imagine what Fassell would do with our current weapons and Eli?

think about it, for one year he made Kerry Collins look like Peyton Manning.

He's actually not as bad of a coach as he's made out to be. But i wouldn't want him as a HC. Moreso as a OC.

Yeah but whose system was it? Was it Payton's system, but got his playcalling role stripped? or was it Fasshole's system with Payton calling the plays, which is rare because it's not an ideal coaching job then?

i don't know honestly. i figure the playbook was a Fassell playbook with Payton wrinkles in it.

just like the playbook we run now is a Coughlin playbook with Gilbride wrinkles in it.
