Im trying to make a good draft based off major needs give me some good feedback
1. Lions LB, Rey Maualuga, USCBig, fast linebackers are hard to find. Rey might have been a top ten pick if he would have entered the 2008 NFL Draft. With Millen jobless now this team can finally adds some defense to this dynamite offense.
2. Vikings (trade with Bengals) QB, Mathew Stafford, Georgia (JR) If the strong armed Stafford comes out early he will likely be the first QB taken. Qb is the weak link of this Viking team if he can manage the offense and keeps the defense often by hitting Berrian deep he can be the next Big Ben.
3. Chiefs OT, Andre Smith, Alabama (JR) Smith is huge at 6' 4" 330 pounds, slides his thick legs very well and plays with great balance and power. Might end up at guard. This pick works even if the Chiefs keeps Albert at tackle either way the line improves.
4. Dolphins LB James Laurinaitis, Ohio State Parcells loves to draft linebackers. Laurinaitis won the Butkis Award in 2007 and could have been a top ten pick if he would have entered the 2008 NFL Draft. I truly think he is the best linebacker in this draft simply because he can play all of the linebacker positions.
5. Raiders WR, Michael Crabtree, Texas Tech (Soph) the top receiver in the nation is a draft eligible sophomore. He is even good enough to be the first over all pick. A nice target for QB JaMarcus Russell. I really wanted to go for Michael Oher here but with Al Davis running the show he wants to do one thing throw ball deep Russell has the arm and Crabtree has the Hands.
6. Bengals (trade with Vikings)RB, Knowshon Moreno, Georgia (Soph) Moreno is a draft eligible sophomore and the best running back in the nation, hands down. I see him as a perfect pick for the Bengals he has a little of that Reggie Bush style but I think he can run between the tackles.
7. 49ers OLB Michael Johnson, Georgia Tech Not huge at 6' 6" 255 pounds, but he is very explosive coming off the edge. Almost entered the 2008 NFL Draft where he was graded as a 3rd rounder despite missing most of the season with injuries. I think him and Manny Lawson will be an insane pass rush combo.
8. Texans CB, Malcolm Jenkins, Ohio State I was surprised Jenkins didn't enter the 2008 NFL Draft, where he would have been a top 20 selection. Jenkins is the top rated cornerback entering the 2008 season.
9. RamsOT, Michael Oher, Ole Miss
Oher is very athletic, has nice size (6' 6" 320 lbs) and plays with a chip on his shoulder. Young, talented QB Matt Ryan needs protection. Last year they just missed out on Jake Long last year but Oher is great pick for them. If Alex Barron can’t get it done at left tackle once Pace retires then Oher can take over.
10. Falcons S, Taylor Mays , and USC the falcons have been looking for a real safety for a long time and to me they got Sean Taylor 2.0. I think his physical present will intimidate smaller less physical receiver . Which can limit offenses, I do think he can seem a little bit overreacted but he isn’t the next Darnell Bing.
11. Browns RB, Chris (Beenie) Wells, Ohio State (JR)Wells (6' 1" 225 lbs/ 4.46 speed) has all the talent in the world and will rise up the boards again once he gets healthy. I think the brown will feel the same way the Cavs felt when they got Lebron James. You can tell see rookie of year here. He will be knocked down because of the injury but just like AD shut up all his doubting with his first bruising run.
12. Buccaneers WR, Percy Harvin, Florida (JR) Not huge at 5' 11" 184 pounds, but Harvin is a super talent and put up huge numbers in 2007 where he ran for 764 yards and 6 TDs and also caught 59 passes for 858 yards and 4 TDs. I also think he can be the next Joey Galloway.
13. Ravens WR, Darrius Heyward-Bey Maryland (JR) it was toss between the 2 hometown heroes Vontae Davis and Darrius Heyward-Bey but the Ravens
Doesn’t have a receiver that can draw a double team, enter Heyward-Bey. Big (6' 3" 206), fast (4.34)and great hands. I can See Falcco to Bey all day.
14. Cardinals LB, Brandon Spikes, Florida (JR) Spikes hits like a ton of bricks and has nice size at 6' 3" 240 lbs. He recorded 16 tackles for loss and 7 pass break-ups in 2007. He can be the Willis to this defense he can lead this team in tackles in a year or 2
15. Broncos Tyrone McKenzie ILB South Florida He plays OLB in college can make the switch to inside backer in the pros and DJ Williams can bump back outside to his natural position.
16. Bears MARK SANCHEZ, USC, QB Sanchez, the nation’s top-rated passer as a prep, won’t mind because he came to USC to be in the spotlight. He possesses the arm strength, mobility and natural leadership to carry on USC’s star-studded quarterback tradition. If the bears are picking here that mean Orton played decent not good enough to takes us to the playoffs.
17. Panthers to the Eagles FS, William Moore, Missouri from Panthers: Moore is the epitome of a ball hawk, recording 8 interceptions in 2007 which was tops in the country. He is also a big time hitter with nice size at 6' 1" 215 lbs. . Could the future replacement for Brian Dawkins.
18. Patriots DE George Selvie (South Florida) [Junior Selvie is in the mold of the Cowboys DeMarcus Ware. He is off to a good start in 2008 with 2 sacks and 4 tackle for losses (TFL) after only three games.
19. Jaguars Mryon Rolle S Florida State Think Nelson and Rolle will make a nice tandem for the Jags.
20. Packers CB, Vontae Davis, Illinois (JR) The younger brother of 49er TE Vernon Davis. He (Davis) has as much talent as any DB in the nation, has decent size (5' 11" 188 lbs) and runs a 4.35 forty.
21. Chargers DE/OLB Everett Brown, Florida State (JR) I think with the injury with merrimen they are going to want some depth at that position
22. Eagles TE, Brandon Pettigrew, OK State (JR) 2009 might be considered the year of the tight if a couple talented juniors declare. At 6' 5" 260 pounds Pettigrew is a complete tight end.
23. Jets CB, Alphonso Smith, Wake Forest Nice wing man for reeves
24. Seahawks WR, Brian Robiskie, Ohio StateRobiskie should be one of the top senior receivers available for the 2009 NFL Draft. He is the son of former NFL player and current coach Terry Robiskie and had 55 receptions for 935 yards and 11 TDs in 2007.
25. Colts DT, Peria Jerry, Ole Miss The Colts still need help on defense and Jerry (6' 2" 292 lbs) is a stud. After getting surgery in week one, he only missed one full game and has already recorded 4.5 tackles for loss.
26. Saints LB, Brian Cushing, USC He fought injuries last year, but as a soph recorded 57 tackles and 13.5 tackles for loss. The Saints get a potential pro bowl linebacker with nice size (6' 3" 245 lbs). Also very good in pass coverage.
27. Steelers Herman Johnson
28. Giants OT Jamon Meridith, South CarolinaMeridith (6' 5" 305 lbs) came out of no where to be one of the top offensive lineman entering the 2009 season. He seems to get better each game under Steve Spurriers tutelage.
29. Bills TE Travis Beckum, Wisconsin I wanted to go Corner but I didn’t see one at the end of the first round worth taking. Plus Beckum reminds me of the 49ers Vernon Davis. He is more of a speedy H-back at 6' 4" 235 lbs, but his speed will really stretch the field. Perfect for Trent Edwards
30. Redskins TYSON JACKSON, DE, L.S.U. Jackson isn’t your normal pass rushing end but I think he does have the ability to get presure on the Qb often enough to help a secondary that is playing well
31. Titans JEREMY MACLIN, WR, MISSOURI Every year they don’t help the passing game by getting an elite receiver but finally Vince Young get that receiver he need to take the next step
32. Cowboys Duke Robinson I thinnk he will make a nice addtion to this already insanely large O line.
1. Lions LB, Rey Maualuga, USCBig, fast linebackers are hard to find. Rey might have been a top ten pick if he would have entered the 2008 NFL Draft. With Millen jobless now this team can finally adds some defense to this dynamite offense.
