View Full Version : Pray for my son
SuperKevin

I've been in the hospital since about 2:30 PM Friday afternoon with my 3 month old son and will likely be here for a few more days. He's having surgery tomorrow or monday to correct his pyloric stenosis(the muscle in between his stomach and intestines is too tight, keeping him from fully digesting food). On top of that they have also recently diagnosed him with cranium stenosis(the bones in his skull are fusing together too fast, closing up his soft spot) and he'll need surgery for that later in the week. I'll try to get online here at the hospital every now and then to keep you all updated. Please keep him in your thoughts.

I am too but it never hurts to have people thinking positively. I'm by no means a religious man but I don't think it hurts to ask others to keep him in their thoughts.

Both my kids had the pyloric stenosis surgery. With my oldest he started throwing up his food when he was your sons age. At first we didnt know what was going on and my wife's doctor said it wasnt anything serious. My son got to the point where he wasnt wetting his diapers so we brought him to Childrens hospital in Seattle and they diagnosed it right away. We had no idea what was going on and as first time parents were beside ourselves. As it was reported to me this was a routine surgery and this doctor that did it had done a couple of thousand in his career without a problem.
3 years later along comes my daughter and after a few months same same. This time we caught it early enough that she wasnt dehydrated at all and the whole process went a lot easier. Both are in their early 20s and are as ornery as heck. I'm not going to say dont worry but our prayers are with you and your wife and we'll all hope for the best.

First surgery on his stomach was a success today. He's still not allowed to eat for another 8 more hours and he's getting pain meds every hour but it was a success nonetheless. We'll be at this hospital for 2-3 more days before we get transferred to another hospital for the consultation and second surgery on his skull.

They had my boy on an IV pretty much from the time he got to the hospital.
Sort of a funny story, which wasnt actually funny at the time, when we 1st took him in they had some young intern trying to put the IV into the top of his hand and was struggling to find a vein. Next thing we notice is his hand had blown up the size of a grapefruit. My wife is going absolutely nuts just screaming at anyone within hearing range. They had to bring in someone that actually knew what they were doing and eveything calmed down. I think they were glad when we checked out.

Great news man. Now all you have to do is worry about the kids getting behind the wheel, how you're going to pay for college and if you have a daughter how you're going to come up with several thousands for a wedding. And people wonder how some of us still have any hair.
