Cincinnati guard Trevor Canfield (http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20081015/SPT0101/810150420/1078/COL02) and Cal-Poly receiver Ramses Barden (http://www.sanluisobispo.com/sports/story/493789.html) are, to my knowledge, the first two players to receive invites to the Shrine Game.

Canfield also stated that he spoke to Senior Bowl officials who said that an invite would be mailed to him.

Cullen Harper supposedly received a Senior Bowl invite as well, but there doesn't seem to be much substantial evidence of it. Even so, I wouldn't be surprised if that invite was mysteriously lost in the mail now...

The thing is, who else would you invite? I would not be surprised if Chase Daniel got an invite, but he is probably less draftable than Harper. Painter has played awful. They want big names to promote the Senior Bowl, and none of the QB's are going to bring that except Daniel who is not a real NFL prospect.

I would definitely send an invite to Cullen Harper. Hopefully his shoulder will be feeling better by then, to help him show his wares to the scouts and coaches.

Obviously his senior season has progressed poorly, but thankfully he'll be exposed to better coaching in the pros than he did in college.

Rhett Bomar to the Shrine Game (http://www.itemonline.com/sports/local_story_302003417.html).

Kevin Barnes will miss the Senior Bowl (http://weblogs.baltimoresun.com/sports/college/maryland_terps/blog/2008/10/future_terps_nflers.html) due to injury.

Troy Kropog may get a Senior Bowl (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/football/nfl/10/21/draft.surprises/index.html?eref=si_topstories) invite.

he may not be a perfect QB prospect, but Chase Daniel will most lilely get drafted IMO, probably in the later rounds. He has that leadership and toughness about him that will intrigue coaches enough to risk taking him. Unfortunately for both parties, i think Daniel may not even make it into a roster. I really like Chase Daniel as a player and a college QB, but some team may be looking for a "Drew Brees", even though there is no doubt Drew Brees was a more polished Qb prospect. Daniel is a big enough name IMO that he will get an invite.

Don't be surprised if John Parker Wilson is invited since he's a local kid. Alabama and Auburn players tend to get invites even if they aren't necessarily great prospects.
