"JETS CONSIDERING A TRADE UP?

We're hearing that the New York Jets are considering an effort to trade up from the No. 25 spot in round one to the top of the draft.

The Jets would like to get in position to draft either receiver Calvin Johnson or running back Adrian Peterson.

To ensure that they'll get either guy, the Jets likely would have to land no lower than No. 3."

This is from PFT so it may not be true at all.

they'd have to give up their draft to trade up that far

Thats One Pretty outrageous rumor they would definatly have give up there whole first day and part of next years, and some good players that would be one hell of a trade

Well, supposedly the Jets are considering Vilma, but I doubt we do. If we do, I think that'd be a lot of firepower to move up. They would probably have to add maybe a couple more tiny things.

That would have to be an absolutely ridiculous trade, I'd assume we would have to have given up Vilma to pull that off. Tangini must think we're very close to contending if they want to try to pull the trigger on a deal like that. I don't know how I'd feel about it at this point because we have so many needs, but if that's what they decide to do I guess I'll trust them, they've mostlymade very good decisions thus far.

wow, idk what to say to that, i would love either AP or CJ, but we would have to give up a lot, and that woudl be an understatement, according to the trade value chart to get to pick 5 we would have to give up a 1, both our 2's, and a 3

will not happen unless they trade ur 1st,2nd,3rd,4th and ur MLB ( forgot his name)

I know for a fact that the Browns wont trade that far down. But at the same time I dont think were targeting CJ.

Raiders = Russell
Lions = ???
Browns = Peterson

So I would be you have to get #2 overall or #4.

What teams in the top 10 are heavily, heavily interested in Vilma?

am i the only one that doesnt wanna give up vilma and a high draft pick to get AP? we would probably have to give up vilma and a 1 or 2a, if its a 1 well have to also give up like a 3 or 4, and if a 2a probably a 2b or 3, its too much...i would rather trade up to like 15 or something to get lynch, we could trade our 1 and 2b and it works to go up to 15....i would obvioulsy rather AP but it might be too much to trade up to get him

Jets sign Joey Porter

Jets trade Jonathan Vilma, our 2nd 2nd, and a future 2nd for Clinton Portis and #6.

Draft:

1a. Alan Branch
1b. Patrick Willis
2. Justin Blaylock
3. Aikaka Alma-Francis
5. Steve Smith
6. Leron McLain

Yes everybody, breathe all of that greatness in!

In any case, who would you guys rather have, Peterson or Calvin?

AP, RB is more of a need than WR

Is there a link? This is ridiculous. As much as i would want one of those guys, i wouldn't give up vilma. He is the heart of our team and trading him would be disastrous

Stop with the ******* Vilma trades. They're not trading him. I don't know why in the world you guys want to be trading Vilma.

Alan Branch and Clinton Portis...

Adrian Peterson or Calvin Johnson...

No not a good reason...

1) Alan Branch has a HUGE bust factor he's too heavy to play DE in a 3-4 in the NFL and too tall to be a NT. He's never played in the pros so its a huge risk to trade a guy whos had 100 tackles every season he's been in the NFL.

2)Portis is injury prone and yes he would be better with Leon spelling him, but a pick would be a better trade for Portis rather than a convoluted combo of picks this year next year and players.

3)AP is injury prone too and has never played in the NFL...No guarantees like Branch. I love him but Vilma as of today and the day of the draft gives the Jets more security

4)Calvin Johnson is the closest thing to a sure thing in the Draft since Randy Moss...That said there is NO SUCH THING as a sure thing. Vilma has proven himself and to quote Mangini "We've been together for a year so we know the system and each other better" Vilma had an adustment to the 34 but he's the QB of the defense and Mangini would not trade the guy who calls his plays on a group that has begun to gel.

I would love to trade up for AP or CJ in a Ricky Williams type trade...but they would have to make great FA aquistions.

If we were to trade anybody I think it should be Ellis. The Lions and Browns both have a need at DE (also the Skins and Cards but if we go there we'll def miss AP or CJ) Although his value is not as high as Vilmas, I think Vilmas value to our team as a leader and great player is to high to trade. I do think somekind of trade to the middle of the draft for Lynch who I feel is a clone of Maroney will be great.

Out of Peterson and CJ I'd take CJ because elite WR's are much harder to find than running backs nowadays, plus CJ doesn't have injury issues like Peterson does. I think he's a safer and more logical pick, even if RB is more of a need right now.
