Pretty simple idea, most of us are calling for Stanton to get in and play a little ball, so the question is when, if ever, will Stanton become our starter?

Based on these options, Week 12 I guess.

I think Stanton will see playing time in the second half of games before he gets a start.

Personally, I believe that the Lions will start him week 12 because it'll give him 3 straight home games and 4 of 6 at Ford field. The only weak D we play against the rest of the year is against NO in week 16, so unfortunately he'll have to play against good teams, butthat should give the Lions the best chance of truly seeing what type of player he is.

Yeah, there was an article in the freep about this strategy. Give him a series here and there and gradually build him into the game plan

If Orlovsky is average to below average this week, I'd go into next week planning on using both QB's at some point in the game.

Hell, I wouldn't mind seeing each QB get one full half of the games from here on out. Do it Brady-Henson style circa 1999.

I dont see why Stanton shouldnt be starting today. He's the only one I see who has any potential. has he looked that bad in practice?

Stanton has done much practicing in his career. IR all last year. Injured with no practice until about Week 5 this year . . .

He looked pretty decent in the preseason. And Marinelli is always raving about the way his team practices, so . . . I expect we have a team of All-Pro practitioners. haha

Yeah, he's still unowned in my twelve-team league. Good luck there.

I think the Lions are desperate to sign Culpepper. Probably the only holdup is the lack of cap space. Culpepper will want a lot of money and a 3 year deal even if some of the money is based on performance.
It is my opinion that Stanton will only get a shot if Orlovsky gets hurt and we don't sign Culpepper otherwise he'll remain on the bench till next year or just get cut to help create more cap space.
If we don't sign Culpepper I won't be shocked if Henson gets 1st crack should Orlovsky get hurt. That's how low I rate Stanton's chances.
I could be way off but I ask myself, if Detroit and/or Marinelli have any belief in Stanton's potential, WHY would they be interested in signing Culpepper??? and WHY would they be starting Orlovsky over Stanton and the only answer I can come up with is, they simple have no faith in Stanton's potential.

A little clarification of why Stanton isn't playing:

They just don't want to embarrass him

Thats really not that bad. He put it kind of harsh, but if a guy isnt ready, then he isnt ready, and I think that is what the point of him saying that is.

This new Stanton news is total BS. They ABSOLUTELY need to know what they have before they go into the offseason looking at QB's in the draft. Hell, they ought to know what they have before they even think of signing someone like Culpepper.

Why not just give Stanton ONE series in the second half of this weeks blowout loss to the Bears?
