View Full Version : Another Blackberry question: How do I transfer web files to my phone?

I know some people here work with Blackberries, so I'm just wondering how I can transfer some web files to my phone or maybe even text files to my phone? I want to be able to carry Scott's mock draft on my phone every where I go so that when I'm bored, I can just open it up on my phone and read it. I don't have internet on my phone yet, so... if anyone can help me I'd appreciate it so much, thanks.

If both have it, it is very easy. You can just put your comp on Discoverable, start up bluetooth and just move files right into your phone.

I bought an bluetooth USB adapter at circuit city for like 15 bucks. It's worth it you can transfer anything.

Or you could just get god to spawn you one.

I would think hell and Circuit City share many similar qualities.

You can't even get a blackberry without a data plan....so the whole internet thing doesn't make any sense....or are you just that hood rich...that you have the 300 dollar phone but can't afford to get a cell phone plan?

Unless you just jacked this blackberry up off the street....when you purchase a blackberry it comes with a usb cable. Install the software that came with it and you can bring over w/e you want...although I'm pretty sure there are no txt reading software on the phone....which means you should probably just put your blackberry to use. Whats the point of having one if you don't use internet/email.

Actually, you can get a BlackBerry without the data plan. I know a few people that don't have data plans with theirs. The phone is kind of worthless without one, but still.

Well they got lucky when they signed up and talked to a stupid rep...because you're not suppose to be able to do that.

That's like buying a really nice HDTV...but not having the money to get the HD service...so you just watch ****** quality TV all day...on your huge tv.

I bought the Blackberry without the plan, I asked many 'reps' about it already, and they said I could. And the Blackberry is a very reliable phone that I use and it's very good with texting. I didn't get the internet plan because I was going to ask for it in Christmas (it's kinda expensive).

I got the phone for $100, not $300.

You are so full of ****. You bought a blackberry for 100 dollars without a plan. NO. Secondly unless the rep had no training and was just thrown to the wolves he would surely have told you....you must have a data plan to have a blackberry. Internet plan is expensive? Who is your provider...because verizon has unlimited for 29.99 a month...sprint includes it with their everything plan...hell sero has unlimited everything outside of minutes and it's 30 dollars a month. Thirdly you are going to get a data plan for christmas....thats like asking for a calling card. Your story makes 0 sense.,...neg rep

Wow, what are you bitching and whining about? Do you want me to show you the receipt? "Secondly", why are you getting so mad? Even if we were wasting our money, it'd be our money being wasted, not yours. There's no reason to say anyone is full of ****. Third of all, go to the AT&T store and talk to the "rep" yourself, I just went to a different AT&T store than the one I usually go to, and they even said you don't need a data plan because I'm already part of a Family Talk Plan. You can find a rep online even.

And now I'm looking for a data plan online. And I have a question to those who have it for AT&T:
-When I purchase the plan, will it be active as soon as I purchase it or will I have to wait until the next month to start going online?
-What are the differences between plans? Because all of them have something about 'unlimited' data, so I have no clue which to get and what the differences are. I want to get the $30/month plan, does that mean I can browse the internet as much as I want per month? Someone please explain that one to me.
-I can go on my email with that plan right?

Thanks.

1) plan = that day.
2) if you get tons of e-mail. unlimited is pretty much the way to go.
3) email is the key to all blackberry.

As for number two:
Can I go to as many websites as I want with the $30/month plan? I'm more interested in the internet browsing than anything else.

I believe the deal was you can buy the phone for it's regular price (around 300 or whatever) but if you get the data plan or unlimited text it comes with the rebate to make it 100 bucks in the end.

The deal is they will take $100 off of the retail price if you renew your contract with them. That would then make you eligible to upgrade your phone.

You were either eligible for an upgrade or you signed up for a new plan. No way can you get a blackberry for less than 200 dollars without renewing or signing up for a new plan.

Yes yes show me the receipt....I'd love to have my/your ego boosted on a forum.

Am I mad?...or calling you ignorant?

If a person is full of it I'm gonna call them on it...plain and simple

You might have me on AT&T...as I'm not as familiar with them as I am Sprint/Verizon....so maybe I am in fact wrong about the data plan...but if thats the case it's AT&T's fault for dropping the ball.

-When I purchase the plan, will it be active as soon as I purchase it or will I have to wait until the next month to start going online?
It will be backdated and incrementally billed for the time you had it that month...then fully billed every month after that.

-What are the differences between plans? Because all of them have something about 'unlimited' data, so I have no clue which to get and what the differences are. I want to get the $30/month plan, does that mean I can browse the internet as much as I want per month? Someone please explain that one to me.
If it says unlimited data it is unlimited. Usually they have a mb/gb limit with cheaper plans...then two unlimited plans. As the higher plan deals with tethering(using your phone as a modem). So you get the cheapest unlimited data plan and you can go online as much as you want.

-I can go on my email with that plan right?
Email uses data...so yes you can set up your email to send it to your phone...and as long as you don't go over your data total for that month you sound be fine....which is why unlimited with a blackberry is worth.

It was a new plan. I bought it because my boss told me but I didnt really need email so I didnt get the data plan.

call 1-800-801-1101

it's ATT warranty.

Just get it replaced.

-or-

if it's within 30 days of purchase, take it to an ATT store and they'll swap it out.

easy as pie.

I didn't buy the warranty on it, and I bought it almost a month and three days ago. Do you really think it's broken though?

j05son

You get two things with your phone.

A 30 day buyers remorse period. If it's been within 30 days for any phone and dislike it, you can return, exchange, etc.

After your 30 day Buyers Remorse period is up, you have a manufacturer's warranty.

If your phone was refurbished, you will have a 90 day warranty, if it wasn't refurbished you'll have a full year.

This is ATT policy, in which I use to work for. I believe though you have ATT.

I use to take tech calls where something didn't work. There's nothing you can do to to test a camera over the phone, no setting that can be checked, etc. What I would do if you called and I had this is get your IMEI [enter *#06# onto your phone] and write down that 15 digit number [sometimes displays at 17 digits but the last 2 aren't needed]. Remove the back of the phone and the battery and there's some small indicators that check for water damage. They will be circular or square, real small, smaller than a dime. If it's white it means no water damage. Red/Pink means you have water damage.

If I had this as a call, I'd check those 2 things, check your warranty date and transfer you to warranty.

Just call warranty form a different phone and your all set.

Does the camera not work completely?

Or is it just the zoom? I've had problems with the zoom before.
