Is Disney using Sex to Sell?

I am a person that enjoys a lot of forward thinking, looking down the line into the future and watch stars develop. Just ask anyone on the NFL draft forum and my constant conversation about freshman and sophomore prospects.

Nonetheless, I have always had this feeling and idea that the Disney Company is much more than is seems. One assumes it is just a place for imagination, story telling and good wholesome child entertainment.

Sure at times, they have had main characters in cartoons be these absolutely gorgeous characters by cartoon standards. Even at times they either dressed pretty skimpy or their waste was about as small as you could get. That is not a big deal though, it is not like Disney is trying to use sex to sell right.

Not officially a Disney channel show and Warner Brothers produced the show I believe. Nonetheless, it is still showed on Disney affiliated stations. On top of that ABC is one of the main promoters of Disney World, and I think they have a part of that company. Also on the show Full House the characters went to Disney World a few different times I believe.



There is an obvious decline in classic cartoon movies, there are no Little Mermaids or Aladdin now. They have kind of turned slightly to Computer animated movies and totally cornered the market of the teenage stars in high school based sitcoms.

The only girl I could find on that channel that did not fit the same mold was Raven Symone, however one could argue it is clearly about demographics and Raven captures a certain demographic, and is there just so people do not call Disney racists in their hiring practices.



So does Disney actually live by the code Sex Sells? Just look at the stars that they have. I will not even talk about the boys on the network, Jonas Brothers, Zack and Cody or Zac Efron.


Where are the good old days of cartoons about talking Bears that fly airplanes or Ducks that are greedy and have treasure locked up in a big warehouse? I miss those days because now it is all about the absolute production and creation of teen stars that will make millions of dollars. Disney sure knows what they are doing, is it right? Who knows, but they sure know how to sell and how to pick em.

Wish they went back to making sweet cartoons, but that is not going to happen, not enough money in that.

That is bull, it literally goes up in the movie when he says 'dearly beloved', and sure they can say it was his knee but that is just a fail safe if anyone notices. I think I know a thing of two about drawing and animation, I am an artist, and one does not draw something that so clearly resembles something else unless they want it to be there.

I think this thread has some merit, but it's not completely true...

Looking at any of the women in the animated films, it's obvious they're going for sex appeal. Just take one look at Jessica Rabbit (I think that's her name), her tits are bigger than her head. The Sex part in TLK is kind of a stretch, you have to be told what you're looking for before you can really see it. I've heard other rumors such as the cover of Aladdin has boobs on it...but that's just what a regular dome looks like, look at the Capitol Building. As for that website that someone linked that said there was no other character in the scene where Aladdin supposedly says "take off your clothes," that's not true. Genie is behind the curtain as a bee mumbling things in Aladdin's ear. For the most part I agree that it's just a bunch of bored animators/FX guys trying to see how much they can squeeze through the editing process, not some huge corporate conspiracy to turn our kids into sex loving machines.

This goes even past Disney, as almost any company trying to sell an image does so in presenting attractive young people to society, making them see that as a norm they must represent in every day life. So its no surprise Disney does the same thing, funnier now however is when i look back at all the old Nickelodian cartoons, how many characters had really inappropriate names.
