college hofer
i think so
sad thing is, our AD is so messed up; we have a total of 2 numbers retired (bball + fball; jerry west, sam huff)
no major harris, don nehlen, "hot rod" hundley
have to be:
1. college hof
2. pro hof
3. wvu grad
so, chances are pat wont have his number retired, even though many fans think he should
should be what you did at college level, not pro

I think it should be college. We do it for Heisman winners and added one with Bill Willis, our first African American player at OSU.

High Standards. I think that's good. The only football player at Oregon State to have his number retired is Terry Baker, arguably the greatest athlete to play quarterback in NCAA history.

too high in fans opinion
i mean, if not retire the numbers, at least recognize them some how
all huff and west have is their name above their number; painted in blue on gray cement; pathetic
i mean, you have to have major harris (led wvu to only NC berth), don nehlen (coach that put wvu on the map; way down after bowden left), hostetler (number shouldnt be retired, but starting qb for giants when they won a super bowl) and now pat white
nothing to recognize them anywhere
imo, if theyare in college hof, they should have their number retired; only have 4, plus major and pat will get in some day
pathetic

#1 ahead of the likes of Antwaan Randle El, Josh Cribbs, and Brad Smith, just thought that was ironic all those guys ended up WR/Return men at the next level, which is more then likely White's ideal scenario.

took til 2005 for his number to be retired, and 2007 to get a statue

Tommie Frazier > Banks AND Smith :)
But just to clear up the OP -- White is the leading rusher in NCAA History for QBs. His rushing total is 4,292 and his passing total is somewhere over 5k.

Eric Crouch?

Eric Crouch?
Eric Crouch was a one man team. He was somehow able to take a craptacular squad to the championship game against Miami, even though they got squashed. That squad was horrible, but Crouch somehow carried that squad.
But Frazier was the ultimate winner. Two time national champion. Three time MVP of a national championship game. Honestly, probably the best big game player in college history.
Plus Crouch went to a NKOTB and actually looked like he was dancing. I think I may like the Cocaine Cowboy (aka Sam Keller) more than him now. :)
Too bad it doesn't look like he will have a chance to go for an unprecedented 3 BCS Bowl game wins.
But he actually can go for 4 New Year's Bowl wins which would also be a record.
