If Childress is fired, do we hire McDaniels to become head coach and sign Cassel?

Thoughts?

Bigger question is would McDaniels leave the safety of New England for Minnesota?

I'd imagine creating his own spotlight with an immensely talented roster would be appealing to him. Not to mention he would have playcalling duties.

The Wilfs will either go with Cowher, McDaniels, or Spagnuolo, IMO. The team cannot afford to misfire on their next head coach with the potential of the team leaving Minnesota on the horizon. They need all the fan support they can get because the stadium bill is leaving town along with the team with each passing year that the bill is not passed.

McDaniels has had opportunities to leave the last few years and keeps choosing to stay in New England. I think he's looking for a dream job or a team that's a little more stable than Minnesota

Interesting Tidbit

McDaniels played WR at John Carroll University where his QB was current Patrots WR coach Nick Caserio.

Weird how the WR became the QB coach and the QB became the WR coach

Sorry to keep posting in here but I would expect him leave New England if he's offered the Cleveland head coaching job. He's an Ohio native.

You really think the Browns are going to hire another Patriots assistant after how tremendously horrible Romeo Crennel has been? I sure don't.

I think we will be the most attractive job on the market if it becomes available.

and I expect that it will be open if we don't make the playoffs. Childress has had his chance. It's time to move on if he can't get it done this year with all the money the team has spent on free agents.

On another note, I would expect Jim Caldwell to be on the short list of candidates as well.

He's an offensive guy which is something they'll probably look for considering all the young pieces they have on offense

Wasn't Caldwell named the successor to Tony Dungy?

I never though of Spagnuolo but I would really want him over McDaniels. More Experience and I know Zygi growing up a fan of the Giants, I think he would like to take from them. The only thing is that he didnt leave for the redskins why would he leave for us...Im afraid that Childress wont be fired for a .500 record.

i really dont think matt cassel would be an answer to the vikings quarterback problems. all he needs to do is toss it up to randy moss and the amazing moss catches almost anything.

matt cassel isnt that good...

I dont know...I mean He doesnt go to Moss all the time...He does go to Welker and Jabar Gaffney a lot too. I think he will be an Average QB with out Moss but Id take an Average QB over what we have.

Would I be upset we signed Cassel...No but if its for like 6 year 50 year million i will be haha. But if it is like a 3 year 20 million i would be fine with it i guess.

i hope the vikings sign matt cassell, i would love to gb secondary vs matt cassell every game of the weekzzz but Minn. would be a good spot for cassell with a great rb, adequate wrs(with rice due to break out next year) add a good defense and he would not have a lot of pressure on him early in his career as a starter. Still cassell is not that good.

agreed. he is a lot better than what we have. The vikings would sign him to a big contract. unless its not brad childress. then it might be a different story.
