Whos been better in their prime? Ray Lewis..or Brian Uralacher(now)

i know Urlacher is still in his prime i believe and hes playing great but my vote goes to Ray Lewis being better. He made a huge impact and was very vocal which grabbed attention. Stats are somewhat similar..Ray has played 4 more seasons than Brian and has about 500 more tackles, less sacks but more INTs.

i think Lewis had the biggest impact of any player on any team imo

Different players in different schemes, but I think Lewis has had the bigger impact so far during his career.

I'd say Urlacher. He is a very good player who is a great tackler and he is even better in coverage. It takes a special player to play MLB in a Tampa 2 and Urlacher fits the role perfectly.

Ray Lewis by a mile. Its not even close to me. Ray Lewis is much smarter, more instinctual, a better leader, a bigger playmaker, more clutch, and better against the run and pass. He was simply better in every way.

The problem I have with Urlacher is Ive seen him get owned every now and then against linemen and bigger RBs. Ray Lewis rarely got owned, he was much tougher against the run. He was also a better playmaker, he made plays when you needed them the most. He's more versatile, having won DPOY in both the 4-3 and 3-4, and he's a much better leader of men.

Urlacher also takes bad angles and isn't exactly the most cerebral MIKE in the league. When he gets older and his athleticism fades, he's gonna fall off hard. He's a poorman's Ray Lewis in his prime. But he's no Ray Lewis.

But Mike Singletary was better than both of them. They all play similar styles, Id say Singletary is the best of the 3, closely followed by Ray, with Urlacher at a distant 3rd. I think Urlacher is overrated as a whole.

Ray Lewis has got the ring, Urlacher didn't do sh*t in the playoffs as the bears got run over in the Superbowl and Seahawks games

This is not even all that close. Ray Lewis in his prime was way better than Urlacher is now.

Lewis in his prime is no question. Right now I'd rank Urlacker higher than Lewis, but mr. Steriods is the best.

While I think its Ray, you guys might forget that in his prime, he had two 330+ Dt's to occupy blockers, so i think most MLB's would excel with that talent.

Tony Siragussa looks like he has lost some weight; he is probably around 320 now :D

well Urlacher has a pro bowler in front of him in Harris whos 300 but they are based on speed..so i doubt you have a 330 lineman in front of u

whos to say Urlacher would succeed so well with two 330+ DTs in front of him in a different scheme or that Ray probably cant do it like Urlacher is in a Tampa 2

Both are fast/athletic LBs

Ray Lewis in his prime is an even better Tampa 2 ILB than Urlacher. Without quesiton.

Urlacher would struggle mightily in the 3-4. I know Ray had some issues, but from seeing how badly Urlacher performs when linemen get their hands on him, I think he would fair far worse than Lewis did.

Urlacher simply isn't that great at stopping the run. He can go sideways and chase skatbacks, sure, but put a thumper head on with him, and he loses that battle more often than he wins it. I don't think he should even get the courtesy right now of being compared to Lewis. He just got owned badly by Jeff Saturday in the SB in his prime.

I'm with BBD on this. Urlacher is an amazing athlete but the mental part of the game isn't anywhere near elite. Ray Lewis had everything you look for. I really can't add to anything BBD said.

Ray Lewis. But despite the Bears having a good D, Lewis supporting cast was top 5 ever IMO.

So did Urlacher; Keith Traylor and Ted Washington.

Ray Lewis in his prime was unstoppable. THE best defensive player in the past 15 years. In his prime.

Lewis has a ring, Urlacher does not....thats the deciding factor in my mi...both teams had horrible offenses especially the passing game grbac/dilfer vs. grossman

Ray Lewis no question. The man is a freak on the field and makes everybody around him better. He's big, and has above average speed. Too bad he's getting old now though.

Ray Ray for sure. In his prime he was one of the greats defenders to ever step on the field. Urlacher is bigger, faster, and better in coverage, but Ray Lewis had the intensity that may never be matched by another player.
