Big game for Pittsburgh this week. Must win for Dallas IMO. I think we shut them down and take TO and co. out of their games.
Should be a good one.
Another good game looks to be Baltimore and Washington.

So excited for Bucs Panthers. I think Bucs have the better defense, they just need the o-line and running game to show up like last time. Also some better play calling from Gruden would be nice, last week he had way too many shotgun formations on 2nd and 6 and 3rd and 2. Run the ball!
Cowboys Steelers is a great matchup but I think DAL is going to have way more urgency in this one. PIT just needs to beat BAL once more to win the division (though that is going to be a lot harder this time around), but DAL is fighting for their playoff lives so they have way more on the line.
Eagles Giants could be good but I dont buy into McNabb's great game from last week. ARI defense isnt very good. Giants handled them at philly and should do the same again.
Ravens Redskins does not look very good now that WAS is in a free fall. They desperately need this game, but remember what happened to WAS when they played the Steelers? I think we might see that again.

If the Falcons beat the Saints we are almost guarenteed 10 wins with a game against the Rams in week 17, the 16th and final game of the season.
That should go a long way towards guarenteeing a playoff spot.
We also play the Vikings in like week 16, game 15, and they should be without Kevin Williams and Pat Williams (no relation).
The Buccaneers next week I believe.
We, the Falcons, have an excellent shot at the playoffs if we win tomarrow.

It's possible that Whitner and Schobel play this week. Would be something. Definitely expect Whitner.
But it's also possible that JP Losman does, as well. Sorry, Canada.
NFC South games this week should be fantastic, I hope I get to see the Saints-Falcons game. The rare 4 o'clock Bills game means I won't be seeing Dallas-Pittsburgh, unfortunately. Ah well. Back to the winning ways, regardless of foreign countries and JP's take on the neckbeard.

Weather forecasts for the Cowboys vs. Steelers game in Pittsburgh this Sunday call for a high of 31 degrees with snow and wind.
The Cowboys' aerial attack could be slowed but Marion Barber might deserve an upgrade. The Heinz Field playing surface is going to be even rougher than usual.

With weather like that I'm really liking the steelers. That defense was able to slow our running game, poor marion barber isn't going to see anything except for white and steelers flying out of the whiteness to hit him the 8 times a game Garrett decides to run the ball.

I don't think the weather is gonna affect us as much as you all are making it out to be. Yeah, it'll be tougher to throw the ball, but i think that's where our humongous offensive line can go to work. I don't expect any 50 yard bombs, but i would not be surprised with 24 points going up on the board in favor of Dallas. It's gonna be a great game, we're playing well right now and so are the Steelers. No better way to judge how your team is doing than against top notch competition.

I think the Steelers vs. Cowboys game will bo one of the greatest games of the season, aside from the Beltway Battle: Baltimore Ravens vs. Washington Redskins. I think this is the match I'm most looking forward to. A very dangerous offense with 2 pro bowl WR's, a Pro Bowl QB, and a Pro Bowl RB who need to lead there team to the playoffs against the number 1 defense in the league. Should be a GREAT game. Thanks for noticing. I agree with you 100%. If we can get a good LT and a decent WR, I think Miller will have a pro bowl season possibly next year. Im pretty sure Russell throw to Miller 50% of the times he passes. Miller doesnt have the elite speed for a TE, but he can block, run routes and has good hands. He reminds me of Todd Heap and Heath Miller.

i guess since i havent been on the board for a while, i dont know wat the consensus is about the play of darren mcfadden, but i have been very disapointed... even in his good games...
he goes down after the initial hit... i swear i was watching a highlight from one of his big games against KC and he did not break a single tackle... and he got caught from behind by bernard pollard.... honestly, i feel like he is a better athlete than he is a football player...
hey who knows, he could come and prove me wrong the rest of his career, but i havent seen anything to praise about mcfadden

It looks like he needs to gain a good 10-20 pounds and is not very good at shaking a defender one on one in the open field. I doubt he would have gotten caught by Pollard if he hadn't injured his toe (turf toe) on a previous play.

For sure. Russell's pocket presence is abysmal and it doesnt help that their line is terrible as well.
Oh btw. Jacob Hester is a TERRIBLE FB. Maybe hes still learning the position, but he is really bad right now. Thats a huge huge reason for LT's lack of success.
LDT with 7 rushes so far. Way to prove a point when the team is already 4-8, Norv.
Btw, I noticed today (per Rotoworld) that Tomlinson has two crazy base salaries in his last two years of his current deal.
'09- 6.75M
'10- 8M
'11- 9.25M
I now buy the whispers that the Chargers could think of trading him, maybe moreso next offseason, even though LDT is a Hall of Famer.

Jets DE Shaun Ellis was arrested for marijuana possession just minutes from the team's practice facility last week after a traffic stop.
Ellis was also cited for driving without insurance and speeding. The Jets' defensive co-captain was allegedly "uncooperative" with police before being taken into custody. He could avoid a 2008 suspension because it's so late in the season, but the NFL is certain to look into the matter. Ellis has 6.5 sacks, 34 tackles (23 solo), and a forced fumble through 12 games.

Pretty bush by NFLN to get Marty Schottenheimer on a phone interview but only ring him up to talk about him getting fired by the Chargers. But at least talk with the guy on other things. Ask him about LDT or Merriman or the Raiders or other teams in the league. Come on, not to mention this all happened a year-and-a-half ago. Stupid move by NFLN imo.
The only relevant thing of interest in the whole thing was Marty saying he's not really looking to get back into coaching (at this time).

Oh ****. My bad. I am usually good about these things :(
He was very unimpressive against the Falcons. I know its one game, but eh. His pocket presence is not outstanding (might be barely average) and he seems to hold onto the ball for a tiny bit longer then he should (in my opinion).

He didn't play well against the Falcons, or a few teams really in this past stretch. But overall he's done a great job slinging it this season.
Whenever he has time he can get in the zone. Our line has been collapsing like crazy this season though. His release is actually pretty darn quick, but he's not getting a lot of time in the pocket.
Rivers has really only had two poor games this season, week 4 @ OAK and more recently week 11 @ PIT.

That's because he's not playing injured this year. You break his legs, and he'll be great again.
All morbid kidding aside, it seems that way because he's not as clutch as he was in previous years. I miss his fourth quarter comebacks. He was amazing in 2006 and at the end of the stretch in 2007.

Okay. I change my statement from him being average to him being good, not great, as his 102 QB rating might suggest. If I see a 102 QB rating, I am expecting the QBs to making pin point passes, overcoming other difficulties to make plays. I think Rivers benefits a lot from athletic play by his WRs and TEs.
Maybe I am just putting too much into the Atlanta game. I expected him to do well, but his pocket presence and accuracy were very sub par. I had thought of him as an MVP candidate early in the season (if the Chargers picked it up) and I guess I was left disappointed.

Remember he's doing this without a true #1 target at WR. Essentially Chris Chambers, Vincent Jackson, Malcolm Floyd, and Buster Davis are all #2 WRs at best. That's why I think the Chargers should make a run at trading for Chad Ocho Cinco. That offense is a blue collar lunch pail offense and adding a colorful productive #1 threat like Ocho Cinco would do wonders for the fan base. Guys like Tomlinson would be able to keep him under control in the locker room as well.

What can I say except that it sucks when you don't have a running game. The oline hasn't been great since 2006. Even last year was disappointing. The pass protection in that game was also suspect especially seeing some of LT's failed efforts to chip a guy on some key passing plays.
Even without a running game, Rivers had been keeping us in a lot of the games this year. Heck, we would have won more games if it wasn't for the defense ie. Carolina and Denver.
Edit: I would also like to add that the biggest knock that I have against Rivers is that he can't throw an out with any real velocity at all. Hopefully, he can improve on this aspect like he did with his pocket presence.

If we're getting a Bengal, it would probably be TJ.

The Chargers went very vanilla on offense in the second half to avoid injuries to their star players. They didn't bring in the subs because the starters need the confidence boost and momentum going into next week but they weren't going to put them in harms way

I think Ocho Cinco would do wonders for the fickle fan base that has trouble truly rallying behind their players. Ocho Cinco is at the very worst entertaining and will keep the team in conversation. You don't know how angry it makes me to live in San Diego and listen to these fans call into local radio shows blasting LT for being "old" because he's not running for 1500 yards and 25 TDs

Rivers has days where he is ridiculously on the money; he is not the most consistent QB but usually plays very sharp.
Ocho Cinco? Lawlz. With Floyd and Jackson both showing they can be big time, and Chambers, Gates and LT (and Sproles. Hester looks nice too. don't forget Naanee...) all deserving of their touches as well, we don't need more offensive skill position players. They do need a serious boost on the O-line, there is defensive penetration all over the place.

You think we can be productive with no real #1 target at WR? We need that wr that defenses plan their game around to keep under control. With Chambers as our #1 we have mediocre starters. I have to agree with SK because Ive been looking into that Ocho Cinco to the chargers ever since i heard he wanted to be traded, we have too many leaders on our team to let a guy like 85 get out of line.

Vincent Jackson's too inconsistent to ever really be a #1. He disappears for stretches at a time. He's a real good #2 though. Like I said before the Chargers WR corps is filled with #2 WRs with Chambers and Jackson being top tier #2s and Floys and Davis having potential to be good #2s. They really need that one guy who commands a double team on every possession.

Hester has barely seen the field this year. His only real play time has come last night and the week before, and he showed he can contribute.
Considering how awful we've been on third down, I can see a receiving fullback coming in handy.
I don't really agree with the notion that we have a bunch of number 2 guys--I think when this offense is running like it's supposed to, the number 1 is Gates, the other guys are legit downfield threats, and the main engine is unleashing LT. That's not how we've looked this year for the most part, but we've got the personnel at the skill positions.
I'd much rather spend money on fixing our D and O-line than bringing in a joker like Chad Johnson.

I agree with this now that I think about it. We need two dlineman (one to replace Igor) and another to eventually replace Jamal, and at least another olineman to replace Goff. We need a running game to take the pressure off of Rivers. In other words, we need some beef on the lines.
Additionally, it's hard to make the type of deep throws that Norv wants when the line can't hold up during 5 or 7 step drops.

They can make great acrobatic catches, but they can't consistently get separation. The downside of having the height advantage over corners. VJ and Floyd are improving though, and I don't think we need a number 1 necessarily to do well. It all comes down to the beef up front. The NYG have shown how invaluable that is.

I think Floyd finally (FINALLY) developing will be enough of an added ooomph at WR for us; I'm high on Legedu Naanee as well and don't think the coaching staff will give up on Buster Davis quiiiiite yet.
Although I'd like to see a Buster Davis for Michael Bush swap, I think that'd fill a hole for both squads, as much as dealing with the Raiders bothers me.
I know I'm harping on this, but Rivers is just not getting enough time to go through his reads; when he does get time he performs off the charts. O-line>WR this offseason by far.
Jackson, as much as I hate to say it, is STILL developing. He's finally started using his arms this year and lord knows he's big and fast enough to be a number 1. btw, when did his numbers get so good? 44 receptions for 851 yards and 6 tds, with 19.3 per catch.
Pretty nice for a guy who's dropped in and out of the offense quite a bit. He'll be our first 1,000 yard receiver since...since...Tony Martin? If that's right, we suck. It may go back even further, I know Boston didn't do it. Gates did as a TE I guess.

Well he made at least one key block last night, on the goal line, which means he's up on Mike Tolbert by an infinite margin. And he's got some soft hands.
But yah I'm not a huge fan of the pick, essentially we gave up a 2nd for him. So if he be a tricky, forgotten option on third downs, I'll take it for now.

Chambers got injured in the Dolphins game, and Malcolm Floyd actually took over his spot while he recovered. He's suppose to be completely healed but he has disappeared. I suspect the biggest reason for his disappearance is that the running game has been nonexistent and that a lot of time is devoted to coverage. We're too one dimensional this year.

We've been rotating receivers a lot and Chambers hasn't gotten many looks. I suspect his ankle is still bothering him quite a bit, he was running like the wind early in the season, no problems getting behind a defense, and now he's invisible.

Of course a Childress coached team is going to have a let down against the worst team in history. Of course.

Rule of life: If the Eagles fail to gain at least three yards on a first down run, they will never run on second down.

The Vikings are a good team, the coaching is just horrendous. I dont get to see them play all that often, but i watched the Tampa Bay game and i couldnt believe how many chances god gave them to win, and Brad childress just decided he didnt want to take them.
