I love the Losman pickup. He's exactly the type of guy I would want to have behind Thigpen going into next season.

I love the Orakpo and Ellerbe picks. I'm just okay with the Loadholt pick, but I guess it wouldn't be too bad for a RT. I'd really like to see McIntosh gone and I wouldn't hate to see Herb Taylor get a shot out there at RT, but I can't complain about this mock at all.
From what I remember hearing though, Andrews wants to play in Philadelphia with his brother.

Not sure about Andrews, but I don't think Herb can be counted on to start. I've counted 3 times in the last month that a penalty has been called on him, and that's in limited action.
I chose Loadholt because I think we need a monster on that side who will blow people up to help the run. At 6'8" 330, he is a bigger than any OT we have. I too questioned him last season, but he was wise and stayed at school to learn how to use his feet better. Big game Bob tought him well

I think Thigpen has played well enough that the Chiefs don't HAVE to draft a QB unless they feel the one available is the best player available.

My thought too. I think if Bradford is there when we pick we would take him, but given how young Bradford is it probably wouldn't hurt to have Thigpen run the show while Bradford develops.

If Stafford is there I can see us taking him, even though I don't want to, but I SINCERELY hope we do not draft Bradford.

What's this I hear about Derrick Johnson moving to Mike? I don't get it, he's tailor made to be a Weakside Backer in the 4-3 and already started showing flashes of his potential...I know it's probably more of less of an "experiment" so to speak but don't be surprised if his play drops.
I have always been a huge DJ fan, all the tools you look for, but he needs to work in space and use his speed, he's not a thumper, so I'd venture to say the run support would take a drop...That's just my assumption, I guess I understand putting your best player in the middle, but I don't see this having a very happy ending, and if I had to guess I'd say he isn't too happy about this.

We have had so many LB's get hurt this year we have ran out of options I also feel he is at his best on the weak side I believe the coaching staff feels the same way but at this point what can you do?

He's right. We basically wanted our three best LBs on the field. They had Boiman and Williams playing outside and moved DJ in for now. It's just injuries and our lack of a real #1 MLB. If we draft one I'm sure you'll see DJ back where he belongs. :)

Apparently with Albert Haynesworth going to the Pro Bowl, that allows him to become a free agent this year. And since he was previously tagged, I don't think he can be franchised again (guessing on my part, don't quote me). If this is the case, he should be priority numero uno for the new GM. Haynesworth and Dorsey in the middle for the next 5 years? I'm game.

It's been rumored that Denver has him as thier number 1 priority this offseason. I really don't see him wanting to come here given where we are. We also would have a ton of money tied up in the position with Dorsey's contract already there. I would love to have his talent, but right now I don't think he makes sense for what we are doing and the other holes we need to fill.

If we somehow got Haynesworth here in KC and also drafted an impact DE in the draft.. our defense could become pretty damn good quick.
That being said, there is no way the Titans let Haynesworth out of Tennessee. No shot. He's arguably the best at his position and he plays for a team that prides themselves on their ability to stop the run.

He is arguably the best D player in the NFL I don't know if another player on that side of the ball has made as much of an impact he makes everyone around him better.
You pretty much have to double team him every snap which frees up the DE's which helps out the CB's and safteys to do their job dude is just a beast.

If it came down between Peppers and Haynesworth...who would we rather take? I know there is about a .0003 percent chance of this happening, but hypothetically speaking.
Haynesworth probably wouldn't command as much dollar as Peppers would, although I think Peppers would be more worth the money. Again, I know this won't happen, just playing the imagination game, you dig?

If it's between the two, I'd rather have Peppers I think. Tank Tyler has been getting better and so has Dorsey. In this case it'd be replacing a solid and improving play in Tank with Haynesworth over replacing NO ONE on the outside with Peppers. The bigger upgrade here, in my opinion, is Peppers.
But, Haynesworth is sick too. You really can't go wrong in either scenario.

I'm leaning towards Haynesworth but two things scare me about going after him one he has only played a full season once his rookie year and two he has had his best two years on contract years.

I think Julius Peppers should be our man had that situation come up. I like Haynesworth but Splat has a good point, he seems like a huge paycheck player to me. Julius Peppers would definately put an end to our pass rush issues, and it would definately add that leadership and intensity we'd need to make our defense an upper echelon D. I think we'd also need to find an MLB like Vilma or Bart Scott.
The big question is, will Peppers be available? Didn't they draft a RT and the Gross guy seems like "more" expendable. I'd still like to have him to seal up our booked tackles. We got a lot of money to play with and with a new GM coming in, he'll want a big free agent signing to start his reign off with a bang.

I disagree. I don't think one or two big free agent signings is going to get us to the super bowl and free agency is the place to get yourself into trouble. The idea is to draft young guys and develop and keep them. I imagine we will stick with the current plan of signing younger guys who are cheap and have upside. I see us making an improvment next year, but not yet to the playoff level. I belive the year after if we only have one or two pieces to fill we will dive in at that point. I guess it's all dependent though on who the next GM is. I'm anxious to see how that transpires.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all about drafting young players, developing them and turning them loose so we can hold that Lombardi trophy. I think you do need to dabble in free agency a little bit. For KC especially since we are in a position, at number three, where our biggest need won't be worthy of that third pick(Right Tackle, MLB or Defensive End). We also need a "good" free agent. Because your right, KC has been burned real bad by free agency. Julius peppers fits a "good" free agency pick up. He's young, he's been productive and he can still develop into a really, really good player, you can say the same thing about Gross.

Your points are vaild, but if you are Peppers or Gross I don't see any reason you would come to Kansas City right now unless they offered you so much money (hence we overpay) that you can't say no.That said my previous remark was with the idea that Peterson would be making the free agent decisions. If Piloi is on board I trust his judgment much more if he is making decisions on who to bring in.

I could see Peppers coming to KC before Gross. This is just guess work on my part, as I have no actual idea, but it seems like Gross is finally getting to play left tackle in Carolina, and he might prefer that spot, and if he came to Kansas City I could see him being moved back to the right. Whereas I don't think it matters what side of the line Peppers is whooping up on the QB from.
I don't think we should go overboard with free agency, but if we did have to spend big money on one guy that guy should be a pass rusher like a Julius Peppers.
It's a good point regarding contract years and Haynesworth. If we could somehow incentive-ize his contract, that may well hold the fire to his feet.

I really hope we can get Pioli here, but right now it's not looking good. I would be happy with DeCosta especially with Kokinis rumored to be heading to Cleveland. I wonder how Ozzie would feel to see two of his top scouting/player personnel leave town. Another interesting candidate is Jimmy Raye from the Chargers. I honestly don't care if the GM we hire retains Herm or not. I don't think Herm's a bad coach, but I'd welcome change. It's obvious we need a new D-Coordinator; Gun just can't cut it.
Chiefs UFA
Adrian Jones- I wouldn't mind re-signing Jones. It would make it so the chiefs don't absolutely need to go interior o-line early in the draft.
Jason Babin- Babin was our best DE at the end of the year, but I think we address this in the draft. With Turk, Johnston, and Boone that gives us a little depth.
Rocky Boiman- Gone
Jon McGraw- He played pretty well, especially on special teams but I don't see him getting re-signed.
Pat Thomas- Gone
Free Agency-
O-line- I would LOVE to sign Gross, but he's gonna cost alot. He's going to be sought after by alot of teams, and I don't see him ending up in KC. Vernon Carey is probably a guy that we could get for cheaper who can play on both sides.
WR- The guy I really want this offseason is Antonio Bryant. Thiggy needs another impact WR, and I think the Bryant would be great in our system.
LB- The three names that really stand out are Crowder, Vilma, and Scott. I'm not sure if any of the 3 are actually gonna hit the market, but it's interesting to think about. I don't really see it happening, but I would welcome it.
So overall trying to be realistic I'd like to sign Carey and Bryant first and foremost. I would love to see Vilma in KC if we can afford it, but I don't think it'll happen.
Ideal Draft-
1. Brian Orakpo DE Texas
2. Brandon Spikes LB Florida
3. Adam Levitre OG Oregon State
4. Rhett Bomar QB Sam Houston State

I LOVE that. It seems pretty realistic too. I'm tend to be an unrealistic cat when I say "Get Peppers, Scott, and Gross" We got money to blow, but no one has that much cash. Carey is a great Right Tackle, and I think Barry Richardson can man the RG position, or can be continued to be groomed, apparently he's pretty raw. Throw in some competition with Levitre and Jones and we'd be building a pretty solid offensive line(Alex Mack wouldn't be bad either, although I'd prefer Spikes).Antonio Bryant would be another great pickup, but I've been throughly impressed with Mark Bradley.
I'd also argue that Orakpo isn't worth the third overall pick. He's a physical specimen and has the "workout warrior" title and he's got the production, but I'd think the top three spots are looked at by guys' like Mario Williams, Julius peppers, and I don't think Orakpo is in that class yet. It's a long way to go though. I'd like to trade down, but that doesn't ever happen.
My only gaffe with your offseason plan is releasing Rocky Boiman. Didn't the guy lead the team in tackles in the last like five games? He's not starter quality, but quality depth and excellant special teams play he does bring to the table, alot like Babin does.

Yea, I was being kind of hopeful with the Spikes pick, but if he's not there I'd want Duke or Mack without a doubt. I've been impressed with Bradley too, but we run alot of 3 WR sets. I think Bradley is a good #2, but he's had injury issues and I think he could be a great #3. I really just want to surround Thigpen with alot of talent to help him progress. I'm a bit of a homer about Orakpo, but I love everything he brings to the table. High motor, good character, strong, good against the run, and ready to come in and make an impact right away. He might not have the highest ceiling like Mario and Peppers, but I really believe he is going to a consistent 10+ sack guy. You might be right about Boiman, but more often then not guys like him aren't resigned. Same goes for Babin.
