JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA (TICKER) —With one game remaining in their disappointing season, the Jacksonville Jaguars (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/teams/jac/;_ylt=AoaNrFf39fPH4k8eB28Jqa4LubYF) on Tuesday shook up their front office.

James Harris resigned as the team’s vice president of player personnel, a position he held since 2003.

The move is effective at the conclusion of the season. Harris, one of the first black quarterbacks to be drafted into the NFL, will be replaced by Gene Smith.

The thing is: how do we know that his new replacement in Gene Smith wasn't instrumental in negotiation for Jerry Porter?

I'm not a big fan of the immediate promotion.

We don't. And I'm not a big fan of the immediate promotion either. I wanted us to go for a GM from outside the organization.
