Yes, that Wes Welker. Fined for the snow angel celebration. Cost him 10k. Ridiculous if you ask me.
$10,000 to make a snow angel after a touchdown.. or $10,000 to throw a big ass thing of snow at a loser fan..
I think Shaun Ellis got the better deal.

Anyone know when Goodell's power trip is gonna end? I think he's fined more players/coaches so far than Paul did in his entire career.

Good question. Wouldn't it be hilarious if we found out it went directly to Goodell's pocket? Or atleast some of it...

Well, at least it appears that he is consistent with his fines for celebrations. Like it or not, Welker broke a rule and he got fined, like most of the other cases. Sure, I don't think such a celebration should be a fineable offense but at least he's not playing favorites (it seems).

How are either of them fines? People like to play with snow, it's fun!

He's consistent but I don't think there should be a rule against such a celebration. This was in good fun. He wasn't mocking the opposing team, making obscene gestures, or doing anything disrespectful. I feel like if you're fined for making a snow angel, someone should be fined for spiking the ball. It's such a harmless foul.

exactly if you get fined for making a snow angel you should be fined for spiking, dancing, jumping in the crowd(even if its just one guy), etc.

Then it should be taken up in the offseason. And honestly, the rule that banned players from going to the ground and doing celebrations like snow angels was put into place before Goodell ever was the commissioner. In fact, take it up with the team owners, they are the ones who put it into place.

Your rational logic has no place on these boards sir.
Flame on boys! Down with his head! I hate the NFL so much I'm going to talk about it everyday, watch every week, and probably buy merchandise and or tickets. But other than that, I am DONE!

I wish all of the current Lions celebrated like Barry Sanders. At least that would mean they made it to the endzone.

but this is crazy... that was probably one of the best celebrations ive seen in a while and it was in good spirits... nothing bad or anything...
i mean i respect goodell trying to make the nfl into a more clean and professional league but times change and you got to have room for some modern fun...

There's a difference between an entertaining celebration and an obnoxious/attention-seeking celebration. The commish needs to be able to draw that distinction. Making a snow angel is fun, not outlandish.

i would complain if hitler came back from the dead and did the celebration and got a fine because its not like he disrespected any team fans or the NFL so screw them if its a rule then its a rule but they should just take the penalty and leave it at that. wes welkers kids are at home scared to make snow angels because they dont want to cost there dad 10grand lol

As if they weren't before but the NFL is getting ridiculous with the fines their handing out. Personally, I like touchdown celebrations. There entertaining and fun to watch. However, if you get the entire offense together on the field and grab the refs and start River Dancing then it's a bit much.

Dirty/Late hit fines.... reasonable. But if fines for celebrations? Some of you are saying its a rule and a penalty. Then shouldnt we fine players who commit all other penalties?

I wish the NFL would fine Gosder Cherilus every time he negates a Calvin Johnson TD by getting called for illegal formation.

I thought it was a horrible ******* penalty at the time but worthy of a fine? Really? I don't care if it was Pac Man Jones doing the snow angel I would still be complaining about the fine.
I am wondering, were the fines handed out for stomping on the terrible towel because that was infinitely worse than the snow angel and I don't even think that should have warrented a fine.

Wow Ive just become aware of this and just wow. Have any other players who got penalized for celebrations received fines? If so i havent heard about it. Sammy Morris got a penalty for celebrating and I never heard of any fines going to him. hail comrade Goodell for taking the sport of football away from its fans and players.
