Anyone wanna share their thoughts on him? Where would he project in the draft?

Can he project to Free Safety?

I'm on his bandwagon, especially after the Sugar Bowl.

I think he could play either way. I think he'll have better results then an Antrel Rolle at Corner, but he could still make it as a Safety as well.

Personally I think he'll be of better use as a safety in the NFL. He's got great size for a DB and solid but not spectacular speed.

how physical is he in supporting the run? or is he more of a centerfielder type

I don't think he breaks on the ball fast enough. Good athlete, but not good enough for corner.

Hes not as physical as a safety obviously should be. I know he was playing corner but its a mentality. So more of a centerfielder type.

I thought hed be rail thin like tall corners usually are but hes built real well. I think he could really flourish in a cover2. I hope he moves to safety.

Id think mid 2nd to mid 3rd.

I still think Smith has a great shot at the first round. He'll have to time well enough to convince people he can play corner, but the corner situation after Jenkins is pretty fluid, and it wouldn't shock me to see him sit at the #2 spot on some team's boards.

From what I've seen of him he looks like a safety to me.

Probably a Day One if he comes out, worst-case early Day Two.

I like him, I think that he'd be a good cover 2 corner, but he could also be a real good safety. I'd love to see the Vikings draft him.

Scott, have you heard anything, one way or the other, about what his status is? Is he leaning towards declaring or going back to school?

I see him as a lockdown corner in the league. I would rank him right behind Vontae and easily the number 3 corner available if he declares. Would not mind one bit if the Phins took him in the first!

I've liked this guy for months now. A matter of fact I started a thread about him back in November. Kind of reminds me of Antrell Rolle in the fact that he'll likely get a shot to play CB early in his career but could end up moving to safety. I don't think he's as athletic as Rolle but he does have much better hips and instincts though.

If he declares I think he's a fringe first rounder. Here would be my CB rankings

1. Malcolm Jenkins
2. Alphonso Smith
3. DJ Moore
4. Sean Smith
5. Mike Mickens
6. Darius Butler
7. Vontae Davis
8. Macho Harris
9. Captain Munnerlyn
10. Kevin Barnes

he is listed at around 6-3, 214 and reportedly runs around a 4.55 40

I think he would struggle as a CB prospect, but as a FS prospect he could certainly be right up there in the 2nd tier

I like him as a S, to the Broncos in round 2 or later.

where would smith rank among the safeties?

where would smith rank among the safeties?

Given the disgustingly weak nature of the class I'd say right behind Taylor Mays. He'd be a true centerfielder safety like Ed Reed.

I still like William Moore enough to rank him after him. I would go Mays, Moore, and then Smith sneaking in ahead of Rashad Johnson in my rankings.
