Someone stole all of my garbage/recycle/yardwaste bins. We have the 3 we use and then a bunch of extras around the side of my house, like 10 total and they are all gone except for the garbage which was in the street blown over because of the wind storm.. Why the hell would anyone steal a bunch of empty garbage bins and a kinda full yardwaste one? im baffled.

probably college students......if my parents had not bought the garbage cans we use at my apt. I wouldnt have wanted to blow money on new ones

Lol I dont sell drugs and I live in a culdasack(Sp?) with a bunch of old people i dont think there is anyone of collage age here. Maybe they go on raids on random streets

Are the bins plastic? If they're metal, I could see why someone would steal them.. Sell them to the scrap yard for a little bit of money. People do that all the time around here.

The wind couldnt get them, they are tucked away on the side of the house and on the other side is a fence and in front is a big bush. And the one bin that was on the sidewalk didnt go very far. They are all plastic.

Haha.. I don't know the prices.. but I've heard of people stealing sewer caps. People break in to abandoned houses and steal the copper pipes for scrap. They did that to my neighbors house, and the whole front yard pretty much wound up getting flooded with water. Supposedly catalytic converters from a car can get a lot of money because there's some platinum in it.. there's also platinum in Air Conditioners which causes them to get stolen too.

either way, that's surprising. i thought there wasn't anyone left in flint (heard from a coworker who was just there).

It's shrinking. They're planning to close a lot of schools down this year.. We have a bunch of one-way streets downtown which are getting changed to regular streets because it isn't as busy as it used to be.. and they're supposed to be changing some 4 lane roads down to 3 lanes. They're currently knocking down the Delphi plant that's by my house.. The GM stuff is screwing people over here pretty bad.

We took a couple recycle bins for our house for 2 reasons

1) More storage for empty's
2) Hockey goals

so, do you mean YOUR trash cans were stolen, or do you mean your parents' trash cans were stolen?

this makes a difference.

if it was your parents' trash cans just say, "mooooooooooooooommmmm, we need new trash cans.

if they were, in fact, yours, then steal somebody elses. pay it forward works that way too.

No. A lot of suburbs build like that. Land costs are too high to have large yards. It's like that in a lot of place in Maryland and Virginia.
