It seems to me that we've lacked a dangerous return man for some time now. Allison is afraid on contact and Hicks just isn't fast enough to take it the distance. I'd love to see us go after Brandon Tate of UNC in the middle rounds.....anyone else out there we could think about??

in reference to topic title

short answer, no they dont know how

long answer, god i hope so. i never wanted hicks to sign with the vikes, even though they were touting him as a special teams boost(yeah right).

Can they bring David Palmer out of retirement? That'd be awesome. Otherwise, yes, Tate would be a good pick IMO.

Still to this day I don't understand when AD isn't handling both return duties...I understand the injury concerns....but when you have a chance to get a dynamic playmaker in space you do it. Especially when nothing back there would be close to him. If your worried about getting him injured on returning kicks...whats the difference between handing him the ball...I've never understood that.

Far too much risk for him to handle return duties. Teams just don't throw the franchise back there on returns. It isn't smart in the long haul.

I just don't get that logic. I understand that is the mindset behind why they do it...but if you have a dynamic playmaker and an ability to get them in space....touches are touches....give him 5 less carries and give him 5 opportunities to return the ball.

you guys could go after percy harvin, he would be another great offensive gamebreaker, great receiver and a great return man

I would love Harvin but there are two problems with him coming to Minnesota. Chilly won't go WR in Rd. 1 and we have other areas we must fill before addressing the WR position. I'm thinking more of a middle round return specialist. Harvin is too much of a blue chipper for us. But I can pray!

The logic is you can't just give him five less carries. He gets carries based on need and the offensive situation. He had 360+ carries this season. Lets say he also had 5 returns each game thats another 80 touches. 440+ is far too much one guy to handle. Especially when there are guys out there who can return kicks and puts just as well as Peterson. We can draft a return specialist in the mid rounds and be set.

I hope Maclin slips to 22.

I don't see that happening and I don't see us taking him if it does. Maybe, but Chilly doesn't like spending high picks on WR's. He's made that known.

Sammie Stroughter in the middle rounds...

I really like that kid but I've only seen him play a few times. How is he in comparison to Brandon Tate?

Interesting. I didn't get that vibe when I saw him play. Maybe I'll take a peak at him....I still love Tate from UNC.

Maybe Devin Moore, RB, Wyoming?

How do you get that comparison? I haven't seen a lot of him, but I wouldn't say he's like Nelson. For starters he is 6' 185, Jordy is 6'3" 217. Nelson is more of a true possesion receiver while Stroughter doesn't really fit that or the speedster lable. I don't have another player to compare him too right now, but Jordy Nelson isn't a good one.
