Aaron Kampman

Hey Chiefs amigos,

Many of my Packer brothers think of Kampman like a God. You guys played against him in 2007 so you know who he is. He was Jared Allen minus the DUI's.

Would you trade your 2nd round pick for Kampman?
Would you trade your 3rd this year and 2nd next year for Kampman?

Many of our guys think Kampman should command a 1st rounder.... maybe, but I suspect a high 2nd is his value. Maybe late 1st. You guys got a lot for Allen though because the Vikings were desperate, and I think Jared is younger.

I would take AK for a second in a heart beat that being said I would not give our first.

I would trade draft spots with you in the first for him. Though Ted Thompson wouldn't go for it in a million years.

Just to clarify things the reason he's asking is because he's in love with the idea of switching to a 3-4. It's not something that isn't for sure going to happen and in my opinion it's very unlikely to happen. Kampman would be wasted in a 3-4 which is a big reason why the switch would be a bad move, but if we did switch it'd be better to get picks for him than waste him in the wrong system.

If we do switch to a 3-4 and trade him there's no way we'd be getting fair value fo him. Very rarely are teams willing to give up what it takes to get a great DE. The Chiefs timing of when they wanted to trade Jared Allen was perfect because the Vikings were looking to get a big time DE at the same time. Aaron Kampman and Jared Allen are in the same level at the top of the DE rankings, but as you said Kampman is older. When you figure out the value of the picks the Vikings gave up Jared Allen was worth the 11th pick. I think Aaron Kampman would be worth around 15-18. There's basically no chance that we find a team willing to part with that much for a DE this season though. We'd be ripped off and would lose our best defensive player. Not a good idea.

yeah, lets trade our 2nd best defender to switch to a different scheme. A scheme that does not fit our players but lets just do it because it will "help"
