Wii is outselling Xbox360 at incredible rates. I don't see how that would have happened.

wii sports comes with every Wii sold. Of course it's going to gain popularity all over, it will by default because every wii owner has it. Super mario bros put nintendo on the map and made nintendo what it is now. Not many games have the replay value of the original mario's, and there's SOOOO many of them too. (mario kart, party, etc etc).

I actually play it every time I go to my wife's friend's house. Granted it's the only game they have.

It's much more for people who dont like regular video games.

Honestly, that's why it's so popular. There are more non-gamers out there than there are gamers. Gamers absolutely loved the Xbox 360 because it has great games. Non-gamers love the Wii because it has fun games that are easy to play. That and the lower price tag is why the Wii is doing so much better than any other console.

Those PS3 numbers are shocking, I think you accidentally put the M there. It's a known fact that only 7.51 people in the US have a PS3.
