Do you believe in the Madden Curse? There is decent supporting evidence from each version. Favre & the Jets choke to miss out on the playoffs, Mangini gets fired, he leads the league in interceptions.

Does it exist? If your favorite team's star player was going to be on the cover, would you care about it at all? Or is it just a silly notion. I wouldn't want Hester on the cover, I know that lol

Brady has turned down offers numerous time to be on it. It's fun and all, and I pimp it out, no doubt, but some are stretches. Ray Lewis? Eddie George?

Eddie isnt a huge stretch, ray is because he still had a good year(albeit it was a down year for him)

Didn't he also get a pretty serious arm injury that year too? (ray ray)

Eddie George was pretty bad his year. Had something like 3.6 YPC or something, but then again, most of his career was full of 3.6 YPC.

Lol people construe the Madden Curse to be involved every year...First it was injuries, now that Brett played all 16 games people tweak it and say "well the coach got fired and he led the league in INT's" lol, it's funny to me at this point.

Can you guys imagine had LT finally done the cover or Brady how people would be going crazy over the Madden Curse then lol, stuff just happens, and players get hurt or have bad seasons, it's just always easy for people to point back to the Madden Curse even if it doesn't make much sense.

The Madden Curse got confused that year when TO did the Ray Lewis dance.. gave him a broken leg.

George always averaged that, he was fine, just a bit worse. But honestly, Favre blowing it is legit IMO.

I'm not sure I can agree. It's always been considered to cause injury and removal from at least one game. Vince Young got it close by missing only one game I think and Favre finally got rid of the injury bug.

Even though he brought on a whole new set of circumstances including playing for a different team than the one he represents on the cover (Packers) and then choking at the end of the season with the Jets.

Well, now that I think about it, that could be worse. Still, he got rid of the injury bug by playing every game at least!

If you are going to try to apply it to Favre you should use the whole offseason crap and the fact that he's on the cover as a Packer when he wasn't a Packer at any point during the season.

But how great would it have been if Brady was on the cover of 2009. Good luck getting anyone to be on it after that.

It hasn't been an injury thing since Ray Ray, seriously, it's just been declined player either due to injury or just plain sucking.

Exactly, GB12. The fact that Brett dons a Packer uni on the cover and a Jets one now says something.

Michael Turner?
Adrian Peterson?
Philip Rivers?

I sure as hell don't want DeAngelo Williams on there.

JBond has been pissing me off lately.. can we start a petition to get him on the cover of Madden 2010? Maybe he'll get in a freak spacebar accident and break his right index finger.

Brady already had the superbowl loser curse. being on the madden cover might have killed Brady

Ray Lewis might tell him not too.

I could see Matt Ryan, Chris Johnson or DeAngelo Williams, maybe even Peterson, but i think AD already declined an offer?

And hope no Colts player is ever on the cover. Heck, not even on the commercials. I want to avoid that bad magumbo entirely.

I'd just stick Matt Millen on the cover. He's a curse, a plague, and an epidemic all rolled into one. But hey, he's got a friendly face!

CashmoneyDrew
01-08-2009, 01:54 PM
Peyton Manning needs to be on this. That will be the ultimate test of the curse. He's never hurt and hasn't ever really had a disappointing season unless you count his rookie season and those INT's.

Actually, considering Head Lights' performance in the '07 playoffs, I think 07 is the correct year (if we're talking about a curse).

And I think that Favre kept the Madden curse alive, considering he played relatively poorly, pissed off many of his loyal Packer fans, and a few other things.

I think they go hard after Adrian Peterson this coming Madden year. He makes the most sense, or i could see Matt Ryan as well.

Wasn't Ryan just on the cover of NCAA Football? I don't think EA would do that so soon.

Um, McNabb anyone? He was injured in ******* Week 1, played through it till the Cowboys game and didn't finish the year.

And they had like 4 athletes on NCAA 09 this year, DeSean Jackson is on mine.

Actually, Donovan McNabb got hurt the year after Ray Ray and Shaun Alexander missed games with an injury. The article says Vince Young got injured and missed the playoffs.

You don't understand. I'm saying. George and Lewis didn't get hurt. That means it isn't "about injury" it's either playing poorly or getting injured.

Why? His impact as a returner this year was nothing. His impact as a receiver was very little. The Bears took an exceptional returner and made him an average at best WR. He might as well have been on the cover.
