There are a number of things that I really like about him, but where is his true value lie.

Do you think that he can play DT in the 3-4?

yeah, there is no way he can play the nose in the 3-4. he is prolly the best fit for the 3-4 DE.

He is probably going to be a five-technique in a 3-4.

However, it's not out of the realm of possibility for a 4-3 team to take him and then just kick him inside to defensive tackle on passing downs.

I think he is definitely a Top 20-25 guy and I wouldn't be shocked if he went in the Top 15.

Obviously as a Steeler fan I'm hoping for a Full Day 1 commitment to O-line, but I wouldn't be disappointed if Tyson somehow fell and we took him.

Teams that run a 34 will value him pretty high as a 5-tech player. Top 25 player on my board...very safe, know what you are getting from him...It is tough determining where he falls though considering 34 teams will value him high while 43 teams a little less so. Might be the "BAP" on the board during the second half of the first round for a while before the right team scoops him up. Merling was a highly rated guy but fell down the list a bit because only certain teams rated him very highly (also, the injury issue at the time...).

Little less value with the 43, although, if you love the big stout end in the 43 over the ROT/TE, he might provide some value. Maybe kick him inside on passing downs...but considering the NFL's placement on pass rush from the outside, especially in the 43, I don't know if I see a 43 team go for him.

How well does he compare to DT Jason Jones, the Titans second round pick, out of Eastern Michigan last year?

I guess for the 4-3 DE question it will really depend on his true size at the combine. I think if he is 6'5" 290-300lbs. and can hit 30 on the bench then he looks like a more explosive Adam Carriker, who has had some success at DT in the 4-3.

I think he goes earlier then may expect because he seems to be on of those truly hard nosed football players that people crave.
