IDK, its always a mystery cause I mean the year before last, Joba was the heir apparent to Mo. Now its Hughes. They both have that mindset to do it, but they also both have the ability to be quality starting pitchers. I mean Joba definitely has had much more inconsistency this season, but I'm not one of those believers that think "hey 1 season reflects an entire career". I hope he goes into the offseason and thinks of ways to better himself, maybe more a more consistent health and training regimen. Find ways to keep the arm fresh over a season. Stuff like that. But back to the statement of the heir to Mo. Nobody can fill his shoes, but I would love for Hughes to try to step into them. Nasty heater, a great cutter he can locate and when he needs to, an absolutely filthy curveball.

I'll take my chances versus Blackburn and the Twins on Friday. A much more fair fight considering the lack of rest and prep these Twins have had. It always seems like its 50-50 when Burnett takes the mound, but Girardi is going to try to get those odds in his favor considering he is having Molina catch him (who is awful hitting wise). I think we should see the good Burnett, who has momentum behind him, but asking more then 6 of him is pushing it.

BTW, what the hell happened to Liriano? That elbow injury completely wrecked his career.

GF1080 you are correct, Belliard has been more consistent at the plate in September than O-Dog, even though he was an all-star Torre is going with the hotter hitter, can't blame him.

The Dodgers bullpen has been beasting it. Torre has always been great with handling a pitching staff. They could use a long start from Kershaw though.

That's what is worrying me tomorrow, we needed Wolf to at least 6 and he didn't do that but our bullpen who have usually been beastly in the later innings with a lead, it really makes for a boring game (not in my eyes though I love it) Kershaw has been good but he does not go deep into games, usually he'll go in between 4-6 innings on a good night, he needs to step up and not get a lot of runners on base but as I've seen St. Louis or us for that matter can't really come up with it's w/ RISP.

another good thing none of you Cardinals fan took my bet, I can't say I blame you

1 inning left but with a 3 run lead I trust the Big Right hander from Georgia to close it out

yodapoop
10-08-2009, 08:32 AM
We deserved to lose that game. 14 left on base is ******* pathetic, and yes I know the Dodgers left 16, but they won the game. When u load the bases with no one out in the first inning, u have to score more than one run. But of course Holliday struck out, which he has a tendancy to do a little too much IMO, and Molina a ground into double play specialist cuz he is so ******* slow grounds into a double play. Carp pitched like crap, but his standards are so high. That was an alright start for a lot of people, but for Carp, it was crap. But hey, Carpenter, Holliday, and Molina are three big reasons for us being here. The series is not over til the home team loses a game. Also, we made their bullpen pitch 5 2/3, so that maybe troublesome for the Dodgers tonight.

His 4.82 FIP would disagree with you. He's more like an average to below average starter right now who's begun to lose his stuff because the Yankees are messing around with him to much. He's more than dominant in the bullpen, not so much in the rotation.

Or if the Dodgers wanna play more, just at the beginning of an inning that Pujols isn't batting put a dude on base somehow cuz we can't get a ******* hit with a guy on base, and if we do we **** it up like Rasmus did. I hate that the Yankees moved him from starter to reliever then back to starter now reliever and he's going to be a starter again next season. Make up your damn mind. Decide where he is going to help you the most and keep him there.

The reason it happened was that management wanted to preserve his arm, make sure he didn't go too far once he reached the innings limit. They did it like that because they felt hey it might be better to have spot short starts then have a steady stream of starts until the end of august and then shut it down before having to restart up again in the playoffs. Once the next series starts up though, you will probably see him back in the starting role (and I think that is no matter how he does as a reliever). I really expect (maybe the better word is hope) that he has a bounce back season next year, cause he showed the ability last season to be an above average starter last season before regressing this season.

Also, in regards to the dodgers versus cardinals, if someone wereto tell me that the Dodgers would win the first two games that Carpenter and Wainwright pitched, I would be like GTFO you Dodger fanboy. I must say I am supremely impressed with what they did, they beat Carpenter, they stayed in the game versus Wainwright and won it in the end, and they have what many consider the best team in the NL on the brink already. I think it goes 5 though still, with an anything can happen situation.

Also, why does the media make such a big damn fuss about the Burnett and Molina situation. I truly dislike the NY media at times for blowing **** out of proportion. Burnett didn't say give me Molina and not Posada, Girardi did. Posada is upset, and so is the media cause he is such an amable person. IMO, I would take the more comfortable pitcher who can give you 6 strong with a below average batter, then a possible 6 innings and a better bat.

And damn, Lackey did the damn thing. This is the ultimate I don't care game, I hope both teams beat the **** out of each other and the Yanks can take care of whoever they have to face.

Great game, but a lot of horrible mistakes by the umps, Yankees and Twins. Everybody knows the foul ball was BS. The Yankees allowed way too many 2-out rallies and Brett Gardner with terrible baserunning. Twins, you don't win when you leave 17 men on base.

What about me? I think I am a pretty knowledgeable Yankees fan, and I only rub that stuff in other people's noses when obnoxious Mets and Sawx fans start talking a lot of trash to me directly.

In regards to tonight, that was your chance Twins fans. This was the game you had to and should have won, and the Yankees just find a way to win it seems. And then when it appears we are on the brink of losing, we find a way to get out of it. Now, Tex's HR shouldn't have won it, cause I agree with you that call was horrendous, and cost you possibly the game. BUt you had earlier opportunities to tack on runs, and if your All Star closer saved the game, we would never have reached this predicament. Now, I will be absolutely furious if we lose to Carl ****** Pavano (worse signing in the history of baseball), we are going to put a stake into the heart of the Metrodome and complete the sweep that everyone thought was going to happen (my opinion that I hope comes true). The entire Yankee roster is just running in peak form right now, the hitters are hitting when they need to, the bullpen is rock solid and our starters so far have given us quality starts both times.

My one fear is that the Angels look really really good. So far versus the Sawx, they have easily handled them. Lackey looks great, Weaver looks great, the offense can hit with RISP whom they get into position by stealing tons of bases. This is the last team I would want to face right now.

Maybe people just don't wanna see it, clearly TBS doesn't cuz Chip Caray prolly gets pleased more watching the Yankees than he has ever pleased his wife. Have no idea why he gets to be an announcer. His wikipedia page says he loves the Yankees. I don't know if it is still on there or if someone actually has written proof that its true, but its pathetic. Harris hits a triple, and he announces like he is upset. A-Rod ties the game with a single and its like they almost won the game. He has actually been outstanding against the couple times the Yankees have faced the Twins. However, against the rest of the teams, he has not preformed. He hits like .444 against the Twins and under .200 against the others.

Why is Punto batting here? Someone on the bench has to be better.

Alexi Casilla? Is that what you want?

Edit- I have always loved you Nick Punto, you may now disregard all of my death threats against you.

Pretty smart play by Jeter. Suck it Punto. Do your thing Rivera, and get these next three outs quietly.

How does it take any smarts to throw it when Punto is running home?

How does it take any smarts to throw it when Punto is running home?Good point. The third base coach has to know that the ball never cleared the infield and say so.

In all honesty, when the Yankees play someone who isn't going to epically choke when given a lead, like the Angels, they could be in some trouble. This has been a very competitive series and we aren't really a very good team.
I don't think that they're a lock to win the World Series like some people.

That should be a great series. The Halos are on a mission this year. I think they got Nick Adenhart on the front of their minds and have the heart and skill to win this thing.

I really hope so, I've always kinda liked the Angels and I know a few Yankees fans who are a little....annoyingly confident.

I kinda stopped following the Angels towards the very end of the season but if I recall correctly we had a winning record vs the Yankees and we always play them tough

Cuddyer's a pretty crappy fielder too. As is Delmon Young. Crappy fielding all around.

Cuddyer isn't as bad as this year's UZR makes him look, but yeah Delmon Young is pathetic. I want to see Gomez get more time in center and Span in left.

Span is a very good player. He can play center field full time. Gomez can't hit anything, unless it's thrown by Mark Buehrle.

Span is a stud, but his defense is 100x better in a corner OF spot than CF, and Gomez is a great defender in CF.

Ideally though, we just need another outfielder.

You guys definely did, considering the Tigers led for the mJoriy of the season before you guys overtook it with a blisterng finish. But this series went just as expected, like what was supposed to happen when David met Goloath. But I must say that I am dishearterned to read you write that the Twins choked this series away. If anything it just displayed how one sided this series was going in and displayed the talent both pitching and hitting wise for the Yanks. Now I'm not saying it's a lock that we win the championship, because the Amgels are as complete a team as there is in baseball and it's definitely going to be a good series. But don't disregard this series as just the Twins choking. The Yanks took this series displaying starting pitching they haven't had in previous postseason and the ability to come from behind which they have had all season. Can't say don't add in a call or two, but even the Angels got those same breaks verus the Sawx

once again my bad if any spellin errors. Tough posting on a phone

I never said you weren't the better team...but when you score first in all 3 games and lose all three that's choking. If we didn't choke there would be a game 4 tomorrow. I'm not sure how you can say this was a one sided series either, other than the first game the games were pretty damn competitive.
