Makes me wonder if the Brewers would of accepted Felix Pie for JJ Hardy....eh we are probably better off with our logjam of OF's + Izzy at SS anyway.

Wow. I can't believe the Brewers did that. Both are great defenders but Hardy has at least shown something at the plate in the past, Gomez will probably never be a league average hitter. I love it.

Damn. I wanted Hardy on the Red Sox.

Jermaine Dye was bought out of his contract.

Great defender, 1 year removed from a 24 HR, .821 OPS season for a guy who's been one of the worst hitters in baseball the last few years? I'll take it.

I would argue great defender. I would say above average. Let me put it this way, I think he and Theriot are about equals. This means they are not good.

6th best in the league last year among SS in UZR, 5th in 2008, and 4th in 2007.

And again, we're talking about Carlos Gomez. I love him and all, but he sucks.

I don't think it is a bad trade. However, JJ Hardy moving to the AL doesn't exactly scream comeback season for hitting.

Halladay acquired by Phillies in a 3 team trade with the Blue Jays and Mariners. Seattle is supposed to get Cliff Lee. I see that more as a lateral move for the Phillies in swapping Lee for Halladay.

Pretty much, which why despite all the Mets fans freaking out (on NY sports radio) I don't view it has a huge move. Halladay is more consistent but Lee was absolutely tremendous for the Phillies last year. Plus I'm assuming they must've have given up some good prospects to the Blue Jays and will have to spend a ton of money on an aging pitcher to get Halladay signed.

Lee wasn't going to resign though... and Halladay wants an extension. By giving up Lee, they have gotten Halladay(long term) for the prospects they gave to Cleveland. Could be a good deal.
