Trade with Seattle for Matt Hasselbeck, 33, who probably would be available for a second-round draft pick. The Seahawks, 4-12 this season, need to rebuild.

Just looking around and found this, would you be happy to give up a 2nd for him?
IMO, his health would need to be looked into, but if he's fit, I'd do it.

I would not give up a 2nd for him. I would consider giving up a 3rd for him though. He would be a great fit for our offence.

Probably no more than a third. That trade would make sense for Gruden.

If we have to keep Gruden, and we can't attain a franchise QB (kind of comes with the first part), why not?

Exactly. Hasselbeck would be solid in our offense, but another quick veteran fix doesn't really raise the hairs on the back of my neck and make my eyebrows rise. No more uncertainty pl0x.

If all else fails and we miss out on anyone we are targeting in FA or the 1st round of the draft, I say sure why not. But I'd rather see how things pan out first before we pull the trigger on something like this.

I wouldn't necessarily want him over Garcia, but I'd be down with bringing him in for competition if no better options present themselves.
Personally, I hope NE doesn't tag or sign Matt Cassel. I think he would be our best FA option at QB. I'm usually not sold on one season wonders, but he seems like a good fit schematically, he's young, and we wouldn't have to spend draft picks on a position that may not start right away.
Cassel would be a good fit, but he's definitely a product of the system. He wouldn't be nearly as good in our **** offense.
