Anyone ever try it? After mixing a couple bowls myself this past break I sat there and thought if anyone on DC has ever tried this bitter sweet drink we people of the South Pacific have grown to love.

Its a root found in the south pacific when crushed up and strained into water creates a juice that alters the state of mind. Not really a drunk buzz but more of a relaxant. It isn't detected by any alcohol detectors.

If you are trying to quit drinking alcohol, I suggest this to hold you over

I drink it fairly often before I go to bed. Mellows me out slightly, I guess it's comparable to drinking 1 beer.

The Kava is pretty light in it, but still definitely has a calming effect and the taste is outstanding. Their is ginger in it too which helps if your stomach ever gets upset (great the next morning after a long night drinking).

I'm drinking some right now, love it. You get a ton of it too, I bought it about 2 months ago and still have plenty left.

But anyways, in referance to the Amazon thing, I'd only by the powder and that's from Taveuni, known around Fiji to have some of the strongest kava.. so you're getting your moneys worth. I have the luxury of living near someone who sells.

It taste like dirt but the feeling is worth it. I just finished a session with my brothers. It'll make you wanna sing too. lol

Half a pound would probably 3 or 4 bowls. How many Cups would depend on how many people you're mixing with.

Kava is interesting, to be sure. It's relatively harmless and can be calming. Certainly, I find there are more effective things out there, but it's a pleasant experience.

I'm in the same boat as you here JBond. Is this suppose to be used like a recreational drug or a soothing drink?

Tried it a few times, but i think the stuff i've had has been pretty weak. The fact that it tastes like muddy water is kinda off-putting and i feel there are other things that have similar effects which are better. Still definately something that people need to try.

It may be something that you dabble with here in there, something you may never try again, or something that can completely change your life lol.. either way you should try it.
