View Full Version : Season In Review

Halfway through the season I had pretty much lost all hope for our Bolts. Then something happened and they kept winning ending up in the playoffs with their 3rd straight divisional title. They did not make the superbowl, and I did exspect more from them this year but I am not that dissapointed with the outcome of their season from what they overcame.

This was definitely not a disappointing season based upon how terrible it could have turned out imo. I would define a disappointing season as 05' and a disappointing outcome as 06'. The team had to overcome injuries to its defensive star (who was obviously more important to the team's success than many originally thought) and then an injury to its offensive workhorse right before the playoffs (who was just beginning to look like his previous self again). It also had to deal with heart breaking last second defeats and officiating that literally cost the team a game. In the face of far more adversity than anybody could have predicted they did not crumble like was expected of them but persevered and even took down what was labeled the hottest team entering the playoffs. I think all of the team's problems can be fixed. Merriman's presence will revive the pass rush, and help up the middle of the defense as well as a good right tackle can be had through the draft.

I had literally put all my Charger stuff away after the Atlanta game...then what a 6 weeks!!! Trash the Raiders, miracle in KC.....excellent games in Tampa and the immensely satisfying thrashing of the Donkee's (we got two key executives fired during the run in Shanahan and King Carl in KC). Then Sproles' coming out party against the Colts.
If we can stay healthy we should get another shot at the Tournament in 2009, especially with our division being pretty weak. Hopefully we can find out if a healthy LT and Merriman can get us over the hump in big games.
I am also excited to have the #16 pick, we oughta be able to get a lineman that will help us.

When your number's up, that's it.
Absolutely everything that could have gone wrong went wrong in 2008 but somehow a team that I had always thought was immature managed not to splinter and guided a rickety carriage into the playoffs where we once again knocked off the Colts.
Next year with Merriman, LT and Gates hopefully at full strength, we will be a much stronger team. I look forward to seeing how AJ boosts the O-line, D-line, and safety spots. Most importantly, I look forward to
