1. Detroit - Matt Stafford, QB Georgia
-"It's probably time to find a replacement for Bobby Layne."
2. St. Louis - Andre Smith, OT Alabama
-Orlando Pace was one of the best tackles in NFL history. The Rams hope Andre Smith is Orlando Pace redux
3. Kansas City - Aaron Curry, LB Wake Forest
-He fits any scheme and is the most NFL ready defensive player in the draft.
4. Seattle - Michael Crabtree, WR Texas Tech
-Crabtree is a big play receiver for Hassleback and will help their next QB to be
5. Cleveland - Everette Brown, DE/OLB Florida State
-The Browns' most consistent pass rusher this season was their Nose Tackle. Everette Brown should fit like a glove in Rob Ryan's defense
6. Cincinnati - Eugene Monroe, OT Virginia
-Carson Palmer is the franchise and one of the best QBs in football. Keep him upright
7. Oakland - Jason Smith, OT Baylor
-If Al Davis wants JaMarcus Russell to succeed (assuming it's not too late), help keep him upright and open holes for Darren McFadden and Justin Fargas
8. Jacksonville - Michael Oher, OT Ole Miss
-Some may feel he's a reach, but not only does Jacksonville need OLine help, Oher might be the best fit for what Jacksonville's offense wants to do.
9. Green Bay - Brian Orakpo, DE Texas
-They miss out on the top tackles... Orakpo is really the only thing that makes sense here.
10. San Francisco - BJ Raji, DT Boston College
-'Too Early' does not enter the vocabulary when it comes to getting a franchise nose tackle for the 3-4 and he is their best option with Oher gone.
11. Buffalo - Aaron Maybin, DE/OLB Penn State
-It would not surprise me in the least for Maybin to slide, but Buffalo is desperate to put pressure on opposing QBs. Maybin may need time to develop, but so do the Bills as a whole.
12. Denver - Rey Maualuga, ILB USC
-Unfortunately they miss out on Raji, but Maualuga is a perfect fit for Nolan's defense.
13. Washington - Malcolm Jenkins, CB Ohio State
-If they deal Rogers, Jenkins can play corner. If they keep Rogers, Jenkins can play corner or safety
14. New Orleans - Vontae Davis, CB Illinois
-They need defensive help. Plus, Davis should be able to use all of his unique physical gifts in the Super Dome. If not Davis, then what?
15. Houston - Knowshon Moreno, RB Georgia
-I understand the Texans have Steve Slaton, but I do not know what else they would take here and Moreno is a better fit for the ZBS than Wells. Plus, it gives Schaub a great receiver out of the backfield.
16. San Diego - Chris Wells, RB Ohio State
-Maualuga is off the board. If LT is done, Chris Wells can pound defenses and let Darren Sproles can gash them
17. New York Jets - DJ Moore, CB Vanderbilt
-Corner seems like the best value here unless they want to take Tyson Jackson here.
18. Chicago - Mark Sanchez, QB USC
-I imagine most Bears fans will hate this, but... he's not Maclin
19. Tampa Bay - Jeremy Maclin, WR Missouri
-He just seems like the type of player the Bucs take
20. Detroit (from Dal) - Duke Robinson, OG Oklahoma
-Backus has a large cap number and it might be too early on Britton and the Lions guard play is atrocious. Sliding Duke Robinson in between Raiola and Cherilus bolsters the run game and hopefully keeps Stafford alive... plus Raji is gone and Hardy stayed at Ole Miss
21. Arizona - LeSean McCoy, RB Pittsburgh
-Edgerrin James is done in Zona. McCoy is a home run threat to pair with Hightower
22. Minnesota - Max Unger, OC Oregon
-Versatility to play anywhere on the line. He can play right tackle or guard until Birk retires
23. New England - Clint Sintim, OLB Virginia
-The Patriots luck out and get an Al Groh coached 3-4 LB. He may end up DROY
24. Atlanta - Peria Jerry, DT Ole Miss
-If the Falcons take Jerry and Anderson becomes something, the Atlanta could have a scary defensive line.
25. Miami - Brian Cushing, OLB USC
-Seems like a Parcells type player
26. Baltimore - Alphonso Smith, CB Wake Forest
-Sintim and Cushing are off the board. Corner makes sense
27. Indianapolis - Darrius Heyward-Bey, Maryland
-When the Colts do not need a WR, they take a WR.
28. Philadelphia (from Car) - Eben Britton, OT Arizona
-Philly was not happy with a WR and a running back, so here's a tackle instead.
29. New York Giants - Kenny Britt, WR Rutgers
-He's a big, physical WR from the area and a prima donna reportedly... perfect match
30. Tennessee - Percy Harvin, WR Florida
- This pick is probably dead wrong because even when the Titans need a WR, they avoid it like grim death. Still, Harvin seems like a Jeff Fischer type player because of his versatility
31. Philadelphia - Brandon Pettigrew, TE Oklahoma State
-Pettigrew is a great blocker who can contribute in the passing game. Any team would love to have this kid. McNabb loves throwing to the TE anyway
32. Pittsburgh - Tyson Jackson, DE LSU
-The Steelers need help in the trenches on both sides of the ball and Duke Robinson is off the board. I definitely could see them taking Alex Mack here though... he just seems to have Steeler written all over him
33. Detroit - James Laurinaitis, LB Ohio State
-Like many Senior Big Ten Middle Linebackers, Laurinaitis falls and the Lions capitalize.
34. Kansas City - Paul Kruger, DE Utah
-I'm not sure if Chiefs fans will be happy with this, but they need help along the DLine and Kruger fits the bill
35. St. Louis - Darius Butler, CB Connecticutt
-They need more production from their corners
36. Cleveland - Alex Mack, OC California
-As a Browns fan, I'm tired of watching Hank Fraley get man handled by AFC North Nose Tackles. They need someone who can anchor against them and lead the OLine for the next decade.
37. Seattle - Josh Freeman, QB Kansas State
-They still have Hassleback for the moment... they need a QB to develop and just drafted him a great WR. Between Crabtree and Carlson, he should do alright
38. Cincinnati - Jonathan Luigs, OC Arkansas
-Keep Palmer upright and open some running lanes
39. Jacksonville - Macho Harris, CB Virginia Tech
-Seems like a Jack Del Rio type corner.
40. Oakland - Brandon LaFell, WR LSU
-Give Russell another target to throw to... he gets a Left Tackle and a Wide Receiver in this draft. Hopefully he's not a lost cause for their sake.
41. Green Bay - Tony Kropog, OT Tulane
-They need to develop OLine for the future and Kropogg is a good value here.
42. Buffalo - Jared Cook, TE South Carolina
-Trent Edwards could use some more options
43. San Francisco - William Moore, S Missouri
-Mike Singletary should be happy... gets Raji and Moore
44. Miami (f/Was) - Sean Smith, DB Utah
-Seems like all the Miami fans want him. Who am I to argue?
45. N.Y. Giants (f/NO)- Marcus Freeman, OLB Ohio State
-They are really hurting at LB.
46. Houston - Michael Johnson, DE Georgia Tech
-Mario Williams is getting pressure on the QB, but no one else does. If they hit with Johnson, they will have a devastating pass rush.
47. New England (f/SD) - Mike Mickens, CB Cincinnati
-They need corner help and they lucked out on Sintim in round 1.
48. Denver - Ron Brace, DT Boston College
-This is probably a reach but if the Broncos do switch to the 3-4, they NEED a nose tackle and they missed out on Raji in round 1. Still, Maualuga and Brace is not a bad haul
49. Chicago - Herman Johnson, OG LSU
-I imagine Matt Forte would not mind running behind Herman Johnson
50. Tampa Bay - Sen'Darrick Marks, DT Auburn
-They need an UT, but took Maclin in round 1. Marks falls right to them.
51. Dallas - Rashad Johnson, S Alabama
-Maybe it's time Dallas had a legitimate center fielder at safety
52. Arizona - Larry English, DE/OLB Northern Illinois
-Can't argue with more pass rush. Plus, Larry English is similar to Pittsburgh style rush LBs and Ken Whisenhunt knows all about that
53. N.Y. Jets - Evander Hood, DT Missouri
-Could be a real nice 3-4 End
54. Philadelphia - Louis Delmas, S Western Michigan
-To me, he seems the most like Brian Dawkins out of the safeties in this draft
55. Minnesota - Rhett Bomar, QB Sam Houston St
-If you can't get Cassell, it's this or Derek Anderson. You decide. (Please choose Derek Anderson.)
56. Atlanta - Chase Coffman, TE Missouri
-Give Ryan more help and a TE is a QB's best friend
57. Miami - Louis Murphy, WR Florida
-Murphy has the size Ginn doesn't
58. Baltimore - Hakeem Nicks, WR North Carolina
-Derrick Mason will not play forever
59. New England - William Beatty, OT Connecticutt
-I doubt the Patriots need OLine help, but they are always smart about getting themselves great depth that can develop into a starters
60. Carolina - Nate Davis, QB Ball State
-Jake Delhomme is getting up there and Carolina has a real nice offense for a young QB to step into
61. N.Y. Giants - Darry Beckwith, ILB LSU
-The Giants need LB help
62. Indianapolis - Fili Moala, DT USC
-Moala is a real nice UT for the Colts style of defense
63. Tennessee - Connor Barwin, DE Cincinnati
-They dominate the run... they could use more help pressuring the pass
64. Pittsburgh - Andy Levitre, OG Oregon State
-The Steelers should dedicate this draft to the trenches.
