View Full Version : Jostens ring making company...

Has anyone had any troubles with this class ring-making company other than me?
The receipt on my order obviously said to have 'LIBID' on one of the ring sides, and when I first got it, it said 'CRUSADERS' instead of 'LIBID'. WTF?
So when the representative went to my school, I showed him the receipt, which confirmed the mistake of their company by not putting my last name on one of the sides. Also, I wanted my full name engraved inside the ring...because it clearly said this on my receipt, I asked them to make it right when I sent it back also. And finally, the ring was far too big so I asked them to change it to about 1 size smaller than what I had originally ordered.
So after a couple months... I got my ring back again today, and the only thing they changed was one of the sides and they replaced the word 'CRUSADERS' with 'LIBID'. However, the quality of their replacement was bad. There's black marks around the 'LIBID' and the ring looks kind of tarnished on that side if you look closely because of this. I also noticed that they didn't change one thing on the inside engraving like I had asked them to for the second time. Wow. And the ring size is still way too big, and I am positive that they didn't even bother to change the ring size.
So yeah... had to randomly rant somewhere.

School rings are a waste of money, I optioned to take the money I would of spent on a ring and spent it on whatever I wanted. One of the best decisions I made in high school, either that or deciding to skip Sr prom to go see Jay Z, Cypress Hill, the Offspring, Modest Mouse and The Cure.

I skipped a senior ring and proms and I haven't looked back since. I was never big on wasting money on sentimental high school crap. Out of my four years there I also only bought one year book and I actually got that half price because I was pretty good friends with the teacher who made and distributed our yearbooks.

What is " Lbid"?
Its Libid, and if you read the post you would know that it is his last name.

So his headstone literally reads "Libid"? Dank.

Good god I cannot stand when people use dank as an adjective relating to something other than weed

I only ever got one because my parents were willing to pay for it. I think it sits on my desk at my parents house still....

We had Jostens and I was never really that impressed by the rings. But then again, they are class rings, which are kind of useless in general...

If we are talking about college rings, that's something to be proud of but if he's talking about HS ones, that's just worthless.

My finger is reserved for my World Series ring. Otherwise rings are stupid

That's what i was thinking. Doesn't it just fall to the floor if you try putting it on? Wait, can you even pick it up?!

I agree. Well partly, i mean to each his own, i'm not gonna call the guy's ring worthless, it obviously has SOME meaning to him, but personally i wouldn't waste that much jack on a HS ring. High School is really overrated and overvalued. I can't wait to get my graduation ring from school. It's gonna be FTW.
Also, Brent, have you planned your silly little ring ceremony? :D teehee jk jk

Chugging a pitcher of beer doesn't require me getting a ring.
In all seriousness, I got my ring a while back and I didn't do anything. In fact, I have only worn it once.

I am what they call a "2 Percenter" because I have no problem in leaving a football game early if we are up by a lot or down by a lot. Actually, looking at this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Traditions_of_Texas_A%26M_University the only ones that I follow are getting my Aggie ring, doing the yells at games and Maroon Out. I have had a couple classes with Reveille and I hate that stupid dog. If A&M really wanted to make a cool statement they would use a dog from the local animal shelter instead of shelling out a bunch of money on a dog as lame as the American collie.

Lol no, this is different.
Traditionally, students wear their rings with the class year facing them to signify the fact that their time at A&M is not yet complete. At the annual Ring Dance, or at the end of the student's collegiate career, the student turns his ring around so that the class year faces away, symbolizing readiness to "face the world."[16]
Many students camp outside the Association of Former Students building the night before Ring Day to ensure they will receive their ring early.[3] For decades, though unsanctioned and often discouraged by the University, it has been an unofficial tradition among willing students to "dunk" their newly-acquired Aggie Rings. The ring is dropped in a pitcher of beer and the student chugs the entire pitcher in a "Class Set" (for example, the Fighting Texas Aggie Class of 2011 will have 111 seconds to "dunk" their ring) and catches the ring in his/her teeth.

Lol here's another cool one.
Texas A&M's official mascot is Reveille, now a purebred American collie. The first Reveille, a mixed breed dog, was adopted by students in 1931 after they found her on the side of the road. As of 2008, the current mascot is Reveille VIII. She is considered a Cadet General, the highest ranking member in the Corps of Cadets, and must be addressed by cadets as "Miss Reveille, ma'am."[46] So as not to inconvenience her, if Reveille decides to sleep on a cadet's bed, that cadet is required to sleep on the floor.[46] She accompanies her handlers, members of the E-2 unit of the Corps of Cadets, everywhere, including classes.[47] If she chooses to bark in class, that session is cancelled.[48] Upon the death of a current or former mascot, a full military funeral is held at Kyle Field, which usually attracts several thousand mourners.[48]

Lol here's another cool one.
Since the cadets have to have their bed made a certain way each morning, most of them sleep on the floor. They'll get creative and put like 2 inches of padding under a rug and use that as a bed with a sleeping bag. Regardless, being in the corps is pretty goddamn lame. And no one follows the seconds to chug said pitcher thing. It's just a matter of how fast you can chug said pitcher.

Blah high school rings...so pointless. There is this really nerdy 40-somethings guy at my work who still wears his every day to work. Ha.

I went to my formal (prom) and got a class ring and I am happy I spent money on both.
I don't wear it any more though.

Nothing wrong w/ prom but, really the ring is just a waste of money. It's just going to collect dust in most cases.
High School really is such a short period of your life and honestly not a big deal at all looking back at it. I dont need some massive expensive ring to remind me of those days. ha.

I manage to find a picture of Libid posting on his computer! Looks a little young for a kid who died in high school though.
