The guys that impressed me in the game where
OT Michael Oher, was very solid and physical.
DT Fili Moala, he has great size and burst.
RB Kory Sheets, he looks like a nice 3rd down and kick return option.
WR Brian Robiske, he runs some beautiful routes and could be a great #2.

I thought Green the OG from Auburn who battled Raji to a standoff, was quite impressive. All the OC's were also quite impressive.

Macho Harris was good. Only one pass completed against him, showed swagger, and returned a punt, fair caught another.
And he started, which is good.

He was solid in pass pro and handled the double move well and I like how he stuck to his and rode him by the plays where his man went outside. I would have like to have seen him keep his head out of a few blocks but it didn't hurt him.
In the run game he was dominant when the run plays went his way he buried Larry English, the best DE in the game, and he buried Evander Hood 5 yards down field. When the play went away from him he had nice cut off blocks.
I don't know what your complaint with Oher was in that game or were you expecting that elusive perfect game.
I doubt Monroe or Jason Smith would have done any better, but we will never know.

White made some good throws and decisions...I just like his attitude.
Jeremiah Johnson looked like he could fill in the type of steve slaton role. A guy teams peg as simply a 3rd down or change of pace type back, who can step in with that team and really surprise them with what he could do with 12-15 touches a game.
Ron Brace - held his ground quite well all night long. But the thing that I cannot get over is how he ran down RB?? 30 yards downfield. I was just flat out stunned by that.

I thought John Parker Wilson did a nice job actually. Also, Robiskie, Patrick Turner, and Fili Moala were really impressive. Chung had a nice hit early on. White and Brown like everyone else said.
I expected Peria Jerry to do well in the practices and drills, given his potency as a pass rusher, but wanted to see how well he would do in game action just as a little extra confirmation.
And I thought he did rather well, as a disruptive force all night, which is a great cap off to his Senior Bowl week.

Pat White showed he belongs at QB. If it weren't for 2 drops, he would have had 100 yards on 6-9 passing. Looked like he was set on showing scouts he can throw. I like the kid.

He fumbled, but ran very hard.

Thats Peerman's niche. Hard runner. I don't care what his timed speed is, I'd take him on the 2nd day he could be my spell back any day of the week.
SeanTaylorRIP
01-25-2009, 08:42 AM
Yeah I have always pushed for Peerman he just runs hard and is no joke. I also still feel that Andre Brown is a top 5 back in this class and I won't go to say he'll have a Brandon Jacobs type impact in the league but he certainly has potential. Everyone's always been on Rashad's juice, but I have always been on Brown's train. Injuries are certainly a worry as they derailed his career, but IMO you will be getting first round talent in the 3rd-5th round.

No doubt Alphonso Smith is my favorite corner in the draft. Maybe he lacks the physical tools of Malcolm Jenkins but as an ACC fan Smith is an absolute terror. A pure coverage corner who is a blanket on receivers. A guy who impressed me is FB Quinn Johnson from LSU. The dude is a beast. I think he has Mike Sellers potential. Monster blocker and while he's raw as a receiver and runner yesterday we certainly saw the potential.

Aside from Pat White, one guy who really surprised me was Nathan Brown. I might venture to say he was the 2nd best QB out there. I'm not sure if that means anything with this crop of QBs and the "career backup" label could still apply, but I think his performance merits another look.

Cedric Peerman reminds me of Mewelde Moore.
Williams had the same day as a receiver as Ramses Barden did, 2 catches for 19/20 yards, hard to lambaste these guys imo when the North quarterbacks sucked. If the best you have to work with is Rhett Bomar, come on.
Williams did some good things as a return man, which he really needed that after struggling during the week fielding kickoffs and punts.

This is pure crap. LB's are severely limited by the rules used in the Senior Bowl where they aren't allowed to blitz or line up in anything but a simple 4-3. Maualuga still forced a fumble but generally LB's don't look good in the Senior Bowl game and because of the rules, a lot of scouts and GM's head home before the game and rely mostly on the practices to determine who has pro talent.

I thought Quinn Johnson made a lot of money Senior Bowl weak. He's a sure round 3 maybe even round 2 guy now. He is a terrific blocker, showed good hands coming out of the backfield and showed he can maybe be effective in a short yardage situation.
I also thought Pettigrew dominated as a blocker. It is like having another OT out there. He did very well chipping the DE's to slow down the pass rush and he made it rather easy on the RB's by dominating the DE's on running plays.
These guys showed that what they showed in practice will translate well to the game.

A good FB prospect for sure, but if LeRon McLain and Owen Schmitt couldn't crack the first four rounds I highly doubt Johnson will.
It takes a rare FB to crack the first three rounds and the ones that do usually have a very impressive college resume and can be utilized more effectively than Johnson in a variety of different ways or have the ability to play tailback at the next level.

Quinn Johnson's my favorite fullback prospect, but he's no round two guy. Won't even have a shot at being drafted until round four, likely five.
He was rated as the 2nd best FB prior to the Senior Bowl week. He is now clearly #1 after a dominating performance in the practices. He has the potential to be a terrific blocker for a lot of pro schemes and he showed decent hands in the practices and an ability to be an effective short yardage runner as well.
FB may not be a glamour position in the NFL but a good one goes a long way in making your running game effective and even your passing attack can be improved if you have a back who can pass block.
FB's don't go round 1 but many have been 2nd rounders and even more have been 3rd rounders. Johnson can be a blocking force in most offenses although he doesn't suit all offenses. That will drive him up the draft boards and when he showed decent hands for catching the ball and an ability to be a short yardage runner, I think his draft stock took a huge jump, so I for one, won't be shocked to see him in round 2 or 3 with round 3 his likely destination.

John Parker Wilson did what he needed to do to improve his chances of getting drafted late. He has a ways to go, though.
The entire South offensive line was impressive. Antoine Caldwell did what I expected of him, and he looks to be a 2nd-3rd round value.
