With National Signing Day coming up on the 4th I decided to look back at the Rivals Top 100 lists from 2002-2005 to see some of the names of the guys who never really made an impact.

Luthur still has a chance to prove himself, but he's never had a chance due to injuries.

Oh Demetris Summers...how you disappointed me.
Kregg Lumpkin is another back who didnt amount to much...despite being ranked right there w/ Reggie Bush as well.

Ryan Perriloux, Toney Baker(Still has a year though), Willie Williams, Brandon Miller, Xavier Carter( We know why though), Wesley Jefferson to an extent,
Jeff Schweiger is now a draft prospect from SJSU I believe.
Bobby Washington and Charlie Jones both sucked.

Whitney Lewis, the prize pickup of USC that year. Their consolation was also getting Reggie Bush and the rest of that sick class

Xavier Lee... Probably the biggest QB bust of all time.

Doering has started in the past and played very well. He's just been injured most of his career, mainly with broken bones. But he will prolly start in 2009 so hopefully he will pick up where he left.

gwaltney was actually ahead of slaton on the depth chart, and probably would hav started the next game
but, he got hurt (sprainded knee); decided not to miss rehab and skip class; became ineligable; was given 2 other chances to come back on the team
was pretty good in the little time he played
Xavier Lee... Probably the biggest QB bust of all time.
Savior actually looked decent at times for FSU....Kyle Wright was never above terrible.

Joe Cohen... listed as a 242 lb. defensive end with 4.48 speed and given a 5* rank, he now plays defensive tackle in the NFL and is listed at 315 after being picked in the 4th round.
What the hell?

It was injuries to blame for Colvin's rough career as well. He began the '07 Pac-10 season with 15 catches for 210 yards and 2 TD's in 2 games against the bay schools and then broke his ankle early in the next game against WSU, ending his season. He was primed for a huge season and had finally established himself as the clear #1 receiving option in our offense.
The previous year, he played through a hamstring injury for the majority of the season which rendered him mostly ineffective, often unable to finish games.
He was a bust when you look at the numbers alone, but people need to know his story before they pass judgment. (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/draft08/columns/story?columnist=chadiha_jeffri&id=3354379)

Think Allen Bailey. Cohen was a beast and he was signed as a RB, also. One of those things though like Bailey who was signed as a LB ...everyone knew they would wind up on the line.

The two single greatest film I have seen on a recruit, one for offense one for defense, both turned out to be busts:
Offense - WR from FSU Chris Davis who I guess was actually pretty decent and not a bust, but still...he looked like a better version of Peter Warrick and his film was unbelievable.
Defense - Ugh...Willie Williams. What a freakin' beast he was at Carol City. If you could create the perfect HS linebacker it would be Willie Williams.

Lumpkin has been hit hard by injuries. He played quite well as a freshman, then he missed all of the next year and took a medical redshirt. He lead Georgia in rushing his junior year and was on the Doak Walker list as a senior, but he blew out his knee. He actually made the Packers roster this year, but injured his hamstring and was put on IR after just a couple weeks.

I know all about him...but, the fact remains that he didnt pan out like everyone thought he would.

Jorrie was kicked off the team for marijuana-related arrests. Colvin was on the Niners' practice squad but I have no idea if he still is.

Cohen was looking fine as a back up at 3-4 OLB for the Niners but they cut him because he couldn't stay healthy.

Are you trying to say Joe Cohen was a bust? Because he was far from it.

does rhett bromar qualify?
and it sucked seeing xavier lee bust. went to hs with him. it's funny how rivals had him at a 4.5 forty, four years ago. then he runs almost a 4.8 for the nfl scouts.

Rivals has a whole list of players from 05 who busted terribly. How about Ike Whitaker, Josh Portis, Kyle Reed, Luthur Brown, Henry Melton, and Patrick Turner (for being the number 2 recruit in the country never lived up to the hype)
