Canes never had a chance. When they just quit talking to chandler all of a sudden, it kinda killed them with the Miami Northwestern guys. It looks like the Louisville class is going to fall apart. I am bummed right now, i really just want to start drinking.

Canes didn't want either of them. Harris would probably be here if he had the grades (and if we wanted Wilson) no matter what happened with Chandler.

Was just talking in general with McCartney/Ego/Shirley/etc.

I'm really hoping Matt James signs with Ohio State now, b/c it is looking like a lock that Seantrel is a Trojan and Morgan Moses just inked with Virginia.

James has already sent his LOI in...

To Notre Dame. Good times.

Hey I just set up a IRC room for NSD. Not sure if there is any interest but I figured it was worth a shot.

Follow those instructions but join #SWDCrecruiting instead of #ForumMock. #nfldraftcountdown is the main IRC room for the board in case you wanted to join that too.

join join join! Even I'm in there to get my recruiting knowledge up to just add more homerism to my rutgers knowledge!

Mike Farrell said this morning that LaTwan would visit USC maybe next week. Bill Greene is at Glenville this morning and said LaTwan was having a long talk with Ginn Sr. Christian Bryant said he expects LaTwan to sign with OSU, maybe tomorrow. Even with all those guys that still only puts us like 3 deep on the outside. The slot is overloaded though IMO.

While I to think the slot is overloaded but I think it could be useful for a couple reasons.

1. Don't have to go oh #@%! when one of the starting slots is injured and say we have no depth.

2. Gives us some guys for KR duties...Remember how bad that has been since Breaston graduated.

3. Possibly some of them may be used at RB in some packages...Gotta love trying to get the lil speedy guys in space.

4. Some may have a postion switch like CB or something IMO.

Last but not least I'm getting good thoughts/feelings on Doresy heading to Michigan. That would be great and make losing out on Parker much less painful.

Now that I think of it..Losing out on Parker isn't that big of a hit since we have Marvin Robinson set to play FS (SS in most defenses) and Calvin Johson to so our depth there isn't totally terrible...But getting Dorsey would be great...would be an excellent deep safety for us and probly the best safety duo since 1997...Thats if they pan out well...Thinking postive!! lol

From what I had read, James was big on the coaching staff at Cincinnati, but lukewarm on the school and it's facilities. It was just the opposite for his feelings for ND. When the UC staff wound up at ND, it was a perfect fit for him. Getting Luke Massa was just icing on the cake apparently.

At least. I was laughing over the way SEC fans have been following signing day all day with a friend who likes ND. With a Tennessee fan it's "OMG we just got _______!" and "O Christ USC just stole ____________". With OSU and ND it's get to work at 8, turn on the PC and see that everybody expected has already sent in their LOIs. Day over.

That sucks. Going back to the Rust Belt for a job has got to be tough. Good luck in trying to find a long term job!

Back to recruiting. The biggest disappointment that I have with Tressel is the lack of Plan B options. He even said after the Rose that his focus now was on closing on some OL for the team. OSU got one OL this year (albeit a very good one).

I like the method for the most part. Get kids to commit early to a top 5 school. But when you are depending on super studs that play the hat game and the last minute game, JT is going to lose out.

My point is, those kids should be nice surprises, not key building blocks.

Hopefully OSU pulls in some great OL next year in what should be a top 5 class (Ohio is loaded next year).

Ohio is packed in 2011.......however not much so on the OLine. The two best - center Michael Bennett and guard Donavon Clark - might be defensive tackles in college. Bennett says OSU is recruiting him as a DT with the potential to play center. We'll have to go out of state in 2011 for good OL. Ohio was loaded at OLine in 2010 and we only got 1 (albeit the best one). Donnal and Schofner were OSU caliber and we didn't offer them : (

Don't you know that NCAA Football only consists of Texas, Notre Dame, Florida, Alabama, and USC?

They don't like the idea of the Big10 Network. So even though they have a fat contract with the Big10, they will disparage the hell out of it or neglect it due to them being worried that their empire doesn't own every damn sports niche.

It's a disappointing class, but there's some kids to really be excited about. Storm Johnson, Brandon Linder, Glenn, Kevin Nelson, Payne, Perry, Rodgers are all solid kids.

It was a class that was needed with the depth up front, but you're right, it was a pretty crummy day.

Henderson was really classy about the pick for those who didn't see it, lined up all 6 jerseys and said something about each school. No drama, just picked the jersey and that was it.

It's certainly worse than being 2nd or the school Seantrel's heart really wants to go to if not for his dad, both of which were apparently Minnesota. My English must be getting worse, since Minnesota is apparently spelled 'OSU'.

Second, congrats on bringing Iowa into a discussion that has nothing to do with them. Iowa fans outside of told weren't under the impression that we were in serious consideration, unlike Minnesota fans. Seriously, great deflecting argument. What does Iowa have to do with Seantrel not picking Minnesota?

Third, there was a whole thread of many pages on Gopherhole talking about how Louis is coming to Minnesota. Then there was another one today talking about how Louis lied to Minnesota and committed to OSU, in which they say he punched Minnesota in the stomach.

I know that there are many more fans to fan bases that what is represented online, but the majority of the fans who openly communicate believed that Louis actually switched, despite him never, ever saying he did. "I wanna head to" and "I'm going to" are completely different. It's not my fault I find it entertaining that Minnesota fans can't tell the difference.

Hooray for UF getting their 6th 5* DT in 5 years.

And I can't even name one of them, besides Shariff Floyd and Dorsey. Looks like they are all working out super well.

Edit: Just looked them up. Gary Brown, Omar Hunter and Torrey Davis? Lol. Are any of these guys even on the Two-Deep?

********. There were not only a lot of fans that seriously thought Seantrel would go to Iowa, there were a lot of fans that seriously thought that Iowa DIDN'T WANT HIM when they didn't do the in-home. If there is a bigger sense of self-delusion I'd like to know what it is. You honestly have a lot of nerve talking about any fanbase being an Iowa fan. They are notorious for being completely out-of-touch. That's why it's relevant.

I would add, however, that I hate the majority of people that post on Gopherhole. There's something in the water over there.

The only thing Louis did was post something to mess with people on his facebook. People who use facebook as a serious recruiting source get what they deserve. He never strung Minnesota's coaches along or anything. Our staff said today that they were a little worried about Louis b/c it seemed every week a different school was coming at him hard trying to get him to switch. He only ever filled out one college application and that was to Ohio State.

Out of all of the new recruits today, did Kiffin and staff even play an integral role in bringing anyone to SC besides Ambles?

Dominique Easley
Sharrif Floyd
Gary Brown
Omar Hunter
Torrey Davis

Brown was a RS Fresh, Hunter has been injury plagued, but you'll see him make an impact next year. Our fans are already excited about the "Omar Sharrif" nickname (before my time), and Davis got kicked off.

In a chat, Penn State's insider said that Marcus Lattimore was infact a silent commitment to Penn State, but he couldn't leave his family and friends. Even Bob L from Scout said that if he wasn't three hours away, he'd be Penn State.

Dammit.

Well I doubt JoePa can do the cha-cha with momma as well as Spurrier either.

BTW anyone read the NYTime article about Henderson to USC? Doesn't his dad come off as a total creep in that? Between the Seantrel Henderson and Sharrif Floyd recruitment, there have been some really bizarre articles, things to come out about their recruitments. I guess that's what you get when you're talking about Urban Meyer and Lane Kiffin as recruiters.

Sean thought Tressel was "too boring, and to the point". Sean and Kirk wouldn't have got along, no chance, no way. Kirk saw it before trying to put the full-cour press down. BearsFan knows this. What Sean should have said is, Tressel was too "conservative" for my liking. We all know that's what he meant.

yeah, they're having a picnic with that article on the o-zone and some other boards too probably. It was all about glitter and glam for Sean H. "Exposure." After that article came out where Seantrel's dad talked about how the USC coaching stability and the possible NCAA penalties weren't that big a deal to him, it became very apparent that he was all about USC regardless of the coach just b/c it was in a big market in LA. No market in Columbus for 37 year old rappers I guess.

I'd say just one other, Nickell Robey, who decommited from Georgia to come here. He was said to be interested in your Vols before Kiffin left, which tells you something. It was very quick work with him because he made his official visit as recent as this past weekend.

Smith will stay on the right side. Kalil is talented enough to start and play at a high level on either side, but he will without question have to take a backseat here. Guys upfront like Seantrel are few and far between, even for a program of USC's standards, and really as good as it gets. You do whatever to accommodate players of his stature.

I wouldnt mind getting Seantrel in at tackle this season and moving Kalil to guard. I think he would be a good guard in my opinion.

I'm still stoked about the Vols class. Losing brain cells over on Volnation with guys nitpicking a Top 10 class (according to Rivals, which I tend to predominantly go by). We got the #8 OT and the #7 OG, and added the #49 OT to develop, yet they think we didn't address the OL... We probably just drafted the future right side of our OL...dumbasses. I hate Vols fan.

Except for the Vols fans here. We're awesome. The rest I wanna e-choke a *****.

EDIT: Hah! I forgot we also got the #14 OG. So that makes the #7 OG, #8 OT, #14 OG, and #49 OT. What would addressing the OL look like if that didn't cut it? The only remote gripe I have is not getting a top notch Center with Florida getting Floyd and a beast DL class, but other than that, that's a great haul...correct me if I'm wrong?

I would love to have that amount of quality depth coming in. After the super elites, it's almost impossible to rank and rate the good football players across the country. The #49 OT may end up being a super stud. You can't tell.

I think Dooley is going to do just fine for you guys. He certainly is a hell of a lot classier.

Yeah it is USC. Of course they have a chance. Guess that UF class isn't as beastly as everyone says if USC could pass them.

Yeah, I liked the class a lot. My only disappointments would be losing JC Copeland and Chaz Green.

http://thequad.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/02/03/top-usc-recruit-is-not-signed-yet/

Seantrel Henderson, the highly recruited offensive lineman who announced Wednesday that he was going to Southern California, has not signed a letter of intent to play for the Trojans.

According to Hendersonís father, Sean, he will wait until U.S.C. appears before an N.C.A.A. infractions committee from Feb. 19-21 to hear about possible sanctions for the program before deciding whether to sign the letter. Though the Trojans are not likely to hear about any possible sanctions at that time, Sean Henderson said the hearing would give the family a sense of where the process was headed.
