Here's the list according to Forbe's. The #1 choice is quite interesting.

The number 3 is hilarious Billy King of the Philadelphia 76ers........... HAHA and this is including all the sports. That list is insane. Someone was drunk making that list. The first baseball GM is number 26. Crazy list

It is a terrible list. Glen Sather at #12? He is getting too much credit for events that happened 20 years ago.

I also don't understand how Bryan Conlangelo (Ex-Suns/Current Raptors GM) can be so low. He built the monster that is the Pheonix Suns and turned around the Raptors in one year.

Just an FYI: Bryan Coangelo wasn't the GM for the Suns. His father, Jerry Coangelo, was. I made the same mistake a while back.

Bryan spent 11 years as the Suns GM and 7 years as the Suns president.

I stand corrected.
The fact that hes rated below Isiah Thomas and Danny Ainge is an absolute joke. Colangelo is argubly the best GM in basketball.

Hmm ok, #18 Dave Taylor was fired last year.

The rankings are purely based on certain metrics. They evaluate the amount of relative money spent per win and playoff win, the GM's experience, and the amount of wins per dollar he has generated compared to his predecessor.
This skews things against the NFL, which allows its teams to spend more and more each year, and baseball, which has no cap. NHL is all messed up because they just put in a salary cap.
All in all, it is hard to quantify data to compare across sports. The NBA and NHL are easy to compare (same number of games and playoff structure, both under the cap). This does not compare favorably to the NFL and MLB. All in all, this was a waste of time.

Terrible List . . . And how is Matt Millen not last?

The format that they used for it is just ridiculous. Kevin McHale is the worst GM in basketball and overall one of the worst in sports, no way he should be numero uno (Billy King is also pretty damn awful).

Billy Beane is number 1. Read his book, moneyball. And he improved his ball club with having very little amounts of money.
Wow this list is awful. The fact that they have Bryan Colangelo at #94, which is only 4 spots from last is insane. The person who made this needs to be shot.
What a joke, Colangelo should be #1, not 94

The guy who couldn't give KG a supporting cast is on top...Pax has been legit so I'm glad he's up there high. I think Tannenbaum will be a good GM down the road for the Jets or some other team if he doesn't stick as well.

As everyone stated this list is pure garbage. There is no way to quantify all the GM's in the 4 major sports. Also, they put way too much emphasis on how well a GM did compared to his predecessor.

Any list with Ozzie as low as 89 is forever known as null and void, therefore end of discussion!

Billy Beane dserves to be #1 in a sport where money is not a factor for some people and he manages to keep the payroll low while still putting a competitive team on the field year in and year out

It's a loss-loss situation between McHale and Thomas. McHale may have made the playoffs and improved the T-Wolves, but that is much more on KG then on McHale. Same with King and Iverson. McHale and King failed miserably to add the much needed talent around Iverson and Garnett. The same thing seems to happening with Danny Ferry and the Cavaliers. Thomas just mindlessly adds big name talent with actually looking at how these players would play together. If anyone thought Marbury, Francis, Crawford and Robinson were going to work in the same backcourt together, you're just crazy.

Isiah's made some very dumb moves, but never did he lose four consecutive first round picks for tampering, nor did he ruin the playing career of one of the best players in the NBA. Isiah is also a far far superior drafter to McHale.

The Steve Francis trade was one of the worst i've ever seen. He hasn't done anything at all and is not near the player he once was. Yet, we are stuck with his humongous contract.

Sorry, my sarcasm reader is off today.
And now the more I think about it, the more it seems like Forbes probably just did this to sell issues. People are talking about this, not in a good way but no publicity is bad publicity in the end.

Forbes didn't compile a list of who they thought were the best gms... you guys seem to not understand this... It's not an opinion piece...
The true best gm in all of sports is Terry Ryan...
