what are your thoughts on him? where does he go if he can show that he is healed at unc's pro day? i think before the injury he could have given maclin a run to be the #2 wr off the board. he was clearly better than nicks, who has now jumped into the 1st round (i do like nicks a lot though) and in the heisman race at the beginning of the season.

is mid 2nd round too early if he runs well at the pro day? i wouldn't mind the dolphins taking him if they miss out on nicks or take an olb/cb in round 1.

To even think that tate was a better WR or even football player compared to nicks is laughable. He has a better 40 time and that is it. Nicks outperformed him and Brooks Foster year after year after year and to say otherwise is to ignore the production. If your team spends a mid 2nd rounder on him, you'll regret it 3 or 4 years from now I assure you.

If teams can overlook the injury, they could find a gem. Kid is money. He's the perfect #2 WR. He can stretch the field with the best of them. Hicks is the athletic possession guy who will make tough catches. Tate is the Game breaker. I'd love to have him over TO. LOL.

Neither can compare to ncst8fan83's avatar though.

Tate isn't even a one year wonder - he's a half year wonder. Kid was a KR most of his career at UNC until he had big games against McNeese freaking State and a Rutgers team that any WR with a pulse can go for 100 on. If his ACL didn't pop he would've gotten exposed later in the year and struggled to crack 1k receiving yards. 5th rounder imo. Nicks is the prize on that team

I like Tate a lot, and while I don't think he could have challenged Maclin, I think he could have very well of been picked around the late-2nd/mid-3rd Round. His KR abilities alone make him enticing, and I believe he's ACC record holder in a few of those categories. Nicks is obviously the better of the two when it comes to receiving, but Tate's all-purpose ability helps close the gap.

I'd take the gamble on Tate over many of the other senior WR's in this class.

Sounds like he could be a good late round fit for the Lions...

- Can stretch the field vertically, taking some heat off of Calvin.
- Fills a big need at KR
- Seems like a good kid and a team player. I also really like his passion for the game.

Tate sure didn't look like a one hit wonder against Va Tech!!

UNC had one heck of WR corps last season!! Who knew?

If he's healthy at his pro day, he should be drafted. I think the guy could really develop and become a starter in the pros.

Basically, this is spot on in my opinion. Fourth/fifth round pick.
