Everyone can post and discuss free agency in this thread.

Jeff Saturday wants to play for the Steelers and willing to play guard. I would love that.

I just hope we can get a long term deal done with starks with less money. That way we can get Saturday at like 2 million a year for 2 years.

I dont agree with that, but I don't think Taylor has gotten in trouble with the law. Lynch needs to surround himself with better friends and people, but I think the Bills will be really, really dumb to trade Beast Mode.

On the Marshawn Lynch situation, I imagine that the Bills will want to give him at least one more chance. He's too good of a player to let go without giving him the chance to make up for it, but if something of this caliber happens again, then I'm all for the trading or releasing of him.

Also, Adam Schefter is reporting that there is no agreement whatsoever between Albert Haynesworth and the Washington Redskins. I don't see it happening anyways, the Redskins are already in the hole with a lot of players as it is and I don't think they can make that big of a commitment to a player who might not even be worth it once he inks his name on the contract.

Also, I think Ray Lewis ends up in Dallas at 12:01 AM on Friday morning...

Browns interested in Derrick Ward.

Bills and Patriots interested in Fred Taylor.

49ers won't bring back DeShaun Foster

Eagles are clear front-runners for Marvin Harrison.

Broncos won't bring back Darrell Jackson.

Buccaneers are far apart with Michael Clayton.

49ers won't bring back Bryant Johnson.

Giants and Amani Toomer aren't on good terms, unlikely he returns.

Ravens are close to a deal with Bart Scott.

Buccaneers are far apart with Jermaine Phillips.

Ravens probably won't bring back Jim Leonhard. Jets are expected to be interested.

I'd say no way Toomer gets re-signed. There was an article saying how the last couple years Toomer has been more vocal and the franchise has been increasing annoyed with him. His comments during superbowl week was pretty much the final nail in his coffin. By saying that he pretty much asked us to not re-sign him.

So basically the original cast is all gone.. Carrie Collins, Ike Hillard, Strahan, Tiki and now Toomer... All gone!

Well how high is the Buffalo front office on Fred Jackson? Im not saying that I would deal Lynch, but if they have confidence that Fred Jackson can be just as effective as Marshawn Lynch, then they could always see what type of offers they can get for Lynch.

Lynch is a great player, hopefully he doesn't have anymore run ins with the police.

How would Buffalo fans feel about a Fred Jackson/Fred Taylor backfield?

Rams BETTER SIGN BARTELL SOON!! :(

Bartell’s situation, on the other hand, is a bit more complicated. Bartell doesn’t have the three years of production put forth by Atogwe and only really came into his own as a starter in 2008.

There’s no arguing, though, that Bartell had a breakout season last year. Bartell’s opponent passer rating on balls thrown to the receiver he was covering was just 60.2 in 2008. The next closest among corners in the NFC West Division was San Francisco’s Walt Harris at 79.8.

Bartell also allowed just 1.5 touchdowns last season and finished with three interceptions, a sack, two forced fumbles and 20 passes defended.

Along the way, he proved to be one of the few corners with the size and athletic ability to match up with Arizona’s Larry Fitzgerald. The Cardinals threw five fade routes to Fitzgerald and completed none because of Bartell’s ability to go up in the air with Fitzgerald.

When healthy Sean Jones is one of the best safeties in the league. I think the Browns did the right thing by not franchising him which would've cost them over $6M annually. But anywhere from$3-4M, I think is a good signing.

You just sound like any ole sour puss fan that lost a player. Had he been signed I guarantee you'd be talking about how happy you were. Everytime I tried to trade for Sean Jones in forum mocks, the guy was untouchable.

That says it all how bad it is. The stigma of 0-16. We would have paid the 5 million salary easily for a 30 year old corner but Lucas wants not part of Detroit. Just thank goodness we have some extra draft picks. It's going to be a long process.

Yeah who knows what Detroit was planning on giving up. Still it says a lot when a player turns down money like that.

What do you say to entice people to come to Detroit? Little national exposure, climate not that great especially for Southern players, facilities good but so are a lot of teams, Schwarz is from a winner but not proven, Linehan and Cunningham come from losing teams, Mayhew unproven. This is going to be a long process. This draft is so important its not even funny.

Wilson? Good young safety who can make plays for you guys. Can sometimes free lance and do his own thing, but still makes plays. He won't give up alot of plays and is in good position to make things happen. He also can blitz too, which is something we used him for.

Locking up Vernon Carey, Channing Crowder, and Yeremiah Bell while bringing in Gibril Wilson was huge for them. They should continue their success into next season. I was really hoping the Saints were going to go after Wilson but as usual we are sitting on our thumbs staring blankly into space.

I doubt it. IIRC they only beat 2 teams with winning records last year. And if Tom Brady is healthy I don't see them winning the division again.

Patriots looking at Hall?
DeAngelo Hall | Redskins | Interested: Patriots?
The Boston Globe reports that the New England Patriots may be looking to add cornerback DeAngelo Hall to their roster if the Washington Redskins are unable to secure him before the free agency period begins tomorrow.
The Patriots' ususally stout defense had issues last season, and according to the Globe, the team ranked 26th out of 32 teams in third down conversion percentage against, and 31st in red zone defense. In addition, the Patriots did express interest in Hall when he was released mid-season by the Oakland Raiders in 2008.

A true "shutdown corner", the flashy Hall would take over as the team's No. 1 cornerback on the depth chart. Although the Patriots' AFC East rivals do not have the electrifying wide receiver options that would necessitate spending a wheelbarrow full of cash on one of the league's elite cornerbacks, Hall would definitely help to contain the likes of Santonio Holmes and Reggie Wayne during an extended playoff run.

I wonder how realistic this is. Makes sense but not at the price tag that he'll probably want.

WE had a weak schedule but I highly doubt we only beat 2 teams with winning records considering the Jets and Pat had winning records and were in our division.

Dolphins are making solid moves this offseason and will improved but it will not show on the record. Dolphins have the hardest schdule (on paper) heading into next season.

8-8 or 9-7 should be the likel goal considering theres a good chance they will be breaking in Henne at some point this coming season.

They are however, setting up nicely for the long term. Keep the guys they drafted and groom (Carey, Bell, Crowder) is a huge key to success. Moderate signings like Wilson (only 8MM guaranteed) and good drafting (Long, Merling, Langford last year) will get this team turned around really quick.

Good young player. RT, maybe inside. Perfect for your Skins. He's complete, not the lightest on his feet or dominating in-line but he's consistent and can still get better.

He's ready to be a 16-game starter. Schefter now has made him less of a sleeper (annoying as a Seahawks fan).

Fine it was preseason but still Matt Leinart had a 2.8 QB rating... a ******* 2.8 that is failure in that offense for you, I honestly do not even think he is a good fit in that system, Warner's arm is no cannon but it is still a lot better than Leinart's, Breaston and Fitzgerald are deep threats, and Boldin is not a bad deep threat either. I liked Leinart out of USC but I think he is a bust, maybe it is two early but I consider both VY and him busts already.

Meh...Denver has more problems. Canty wants to help a team and get paid but, he ultimately wants to be on a good team and wants to be as successful as he can be. Of the transitioning 3-4 teams, Green Bay looks the most attractive and the money is certainly there. Now, that doesnt mean they want him but, he would be a very solid pick up for them.

Blogs I've been visiting today have said that Scott is the more likely of the two to go to NYJ....if that doesn't happen and he stays in Balt...then it's more likely Ray Ray goes to Dallas imo. Logic behind it was that Scott gives you more age and a bigger window of production...as rex knows his team isn't a legit contender at this point. And if Balt retains Scott the Ray Ray offer won't be as big as it they didn't obviously.

Hate to see a former player go to a team rival. He's been good for us. Not great, but definitely good. He probably would've gotten the contract he wanted from Jerry if he had shown consistent progress, but it seemed like he's been the same player since his rookie year. Always showing flashes, but not ever putting it all together. I'm confident that where ever he goes, he'll make fans happy with a big play here and there.

wait, silly question-

The Skins want Canty as a DE?

Yeah, I said it before...Canty is a good player but, the fact that he is a home town talent (atleast college) seems like the primary driving force. It's pretty strange.

What is Jason Taylor due? I know he said he will be playing for the Skins no matter what, but if they plan to get Fat Al, don't they have to restructure his contract to be sure they are under the cap?

8 mill and no if we want Al we will make the offer

Alright, Im just still hoping Reinfeldt makes that deal that Haynesworth can't resist, but one that doesn't cripple our team either.

By fitting the defense, he means he can't rush the passer off the edge.

Skins have needed that for so long.

haha...I know what they look for but, I mean from a money aspect...there should be a bidding war over him. Good 3-4 ends are hard to come by and there are a lot of new 3-4 teams looking for them.

edit...i understand where he is coming from but, I'd certainly agree that it isnt the best fit.

our DE's play run first and focus on gap control and passing lanes, as long as Blanche runs our D we are not going to get pass rush from our DE postion we havent for years and our defense isnt really the problem

It's one thing to say he fits your defense as a LDE...which means he is a stud against the run and would be fine with a rusher on the opposite side.

But it is a completely opposite thing...when Washington sources say that he will move inside on pass rushing situations. If this is indeed the case I will laugh because he never played a snap in dallas's nickel package which we ran about 50% of the snaps on defense since he's been drafted. Hell he was outplayed by Stephen Bowen and Tank Johnson in the role...and both players weren't scaring opposing offensive lineman.

Ratliff could and has played end but, he is staying at the nose. The Cowboys wont be signing any D-Lineman in FA. Canty's spot will be occupied by former 3rd round draft pick, Jason Hatcher or an underrated end we just tendered named, Stephen Bowen.

The Ravens have reportedly offered free agent Ray Lewis a three-year, $24 million contract with $17 million guaranteed.
It's a plenty fair offer for the 34-year-old, but Lewis still thinks he's worth more. He wants $10 million a year. Meanwhile, Baltimore has reportedly proposed to give Bart Scott $7 million annually. With the free agency period just minutes away, it appears both are poised to enter the market. Feb. 26 - 11:54 pm et

Free agent CB Domonique Foxworth is reportedly on the Ravens' radar.
Signing Foxworth, 26, would likely allow Baltimore to part with aging Samari Rolle. Foxworth could move right into the lineup opposite Fabian Washington.

The Lions are "very interested" in free agent CB Bryant McFadden, according to the National Football Post.
McFadden didn't get much exposure in Pittsburgh, but he is the premier corner on the market. He's almost certainly not going to be a Steeler in 2009.

When he played for us, we never really blitzed him.
(also, He was OK in coverage, and he sometimes bit too hard on the runs.)

That's the problem with our team - our 4-man rush doesn't generate pressure, and we rarely blitz LBs/safeties. That's why our defense gets picked apart.

NFL Network's Adam Schefter said on Total Access that he keeps hearing that the Cowboys, "have been looking at Kyle Boller and like Kyle Boller."
What's not to like? Okay, don't answer that. As long as Boller's shoulder is healthy, though, we do like him a bit better than other first-round busts like Rex Grossman and J.P. Losman.
