After 13 years with the Eagles, safety Brian Dawkins will have a new home.

David White of the San Francisco Chronicle reports that Dawkins has agreed to terms with the Broncos.

Dawkins, 35, had said during the season that he thought he'd work out a deal to end his career in Philly. It could still happen, but only after a stint with the Broncos.

Absolutely speechless.

Good signing, IMO.

Mixed emotions. It'll be really weird seeing Dawkins out of an Eagles uniform. He's been one of my favorite players for years.

And, now we get to face him twice a year. That's just AWESOME. :(

John Lynch went there when he was a couple of years younger than Dawkins and he did pretty well and i think Dawkins will too. They need some more help there on defense in their front 7 so they could be much improved.

It's not official yet, I'm still holding out hope.

So, Nolan screws us over with Mark Roman and then gets Dawkins? What a douche.

Keep telling yourself that. He's a Bronco.

CBS4 in Denver has confirmed this is official.

He's over the hill. He can't cover as well anymore. When I saw the Eagles play this year he was used mostly in the box as a run stuffer.

And if you've seen the Broncos play this year, you'd see why this is a good thing.

Then sign a LB or a better d-lineman to stop the run. A safety that can't cover can hurt you just as much.

I can tell you didn't see enough eagles games, he's still above average in coverage.

I saw a ton of Eagles games. He's no where near above average in coverage. Go back and look at the first Cowboys game when Dawkins was running all over the place.

No matter how well he covers, he's a massive upgrade over what they have.

apparently CBS4 jumped the gun. The actual report is now that Brian Dawkins is on the way to Denver to take a physical, and pending that should be signed.

Vic Lombardi
DENVER (CBS4) ―
CBS4's Vic Lombardi has confirmed All-Pro Safety Brian Dawkins has agreed in principle on a two-year deal with the Denver Broncos.

The NFL veteran has spent his entire 13 year career with the Philadelphia Eagles...until now.

Dawkins arrived in Denver Friday afternoon shortly after 5 o'clock. He told CBS4 sports he has not yet signed the contract, but he is heading to Broncos headquarters and the contract could be signed as soon as tonight. No word yet on how much the contract is worth

QFT.

Not only that, we were brutally lacking in leadership on the defensive side of the ball... which is something Dawkins brings to the table in spades.

Great signing IMO.

After watching Dawk every year since I've become a football fan, I have a hard time believing there's a better leader in the NFL.

He just keeps getting jobs even though he's only been a poor coach.

We can only hope. Oh man, I have this friend who is a Ravens fan, and he's pissed at Bart Scott, he is pissed about Dawkins cuz he likes him and hates Denver cuz I like them. If Ray Lewis were to sign with us... I don't think I'd ever stop dancing in his face.

This is a great signing by the Broncos. It'll give their defense some much needed teeth. The only bad part is we have to play him twice a year now.

Well Dawkins on his worst day was better than all the safties they had last year combined, so great signing.

That's more of an insult to what Denver had at safety, because Dawkins was absolute trash in pass coverage last season.

I just listened to an interview between Brian Dawkins and a local eagles reporter and he was so emotional he had to cut it short, damn this sucks, this hurts more than losing the NFC Championship.

For a tough guy, Dawkins seems to cry a lot. It's going to be a crappy year for my jersey collection. I have four, Dawkins, Peppers and Winslow, at least my beason one is accurate.

True, but he's always been someone to wear his emotions on his sleeve, which is something I love about him.
