1. Detroit Lions - Matthew Stafford QB -
As much as I am against Detriot taking Matt Stafford, in the end, they will most likely opt for the potential franchise signal caller and Stafford is the best availible.
2. St. Louis Rams - Jason Smith OT -
I think the Rams will take Jason Smith over Eugene Monroe because of his upside, or potential. Smith is the best pass blocker in the draft and his run blocking will come over time. Smith, Brown and Barron is a solid young o-line to build around and hopefully for the Rams, rejuvenate there monster running back Steven Jackson.
3. Kansas City Chiefs - Aaron Curry LB -
Aaron Curry is a beast, and everyone knows it. The Cheifs added Vrabel, but the guys is a short-term answer and probably only there for his leadership and expirence. Curry gives them that playmaker they need in that front 7 so desperatly. Hali, Dorsey, Curry, Flowers, Carr, the Cheifs are slowing building one of the better younger defensive units in the game to compliment a solid offense with Cassel, Bowe, Gonzo, Albert, and maybe even L.J.
4. Seattle Seahawks - Michael Crabtree WR -
I gave them Crabtree over Jenkins simply because there won't be a playmaker on offense like Crabs in a while now and Seattle should take him now while hes availible. They have ZERO playmakers on offense and Hasselbeck won't have anyone to throw to as well as a aging o-line protecting him. Crabtree is a go-to-guy he can get the ball to when all else fails.
5. Cleveland Browns - Everette Brown OLB/DE -
I gave the Browns Brown over Orakpo here. Mainly because Brown fits the 3-4 better than Orakpo IMO. But let me tell you Brown fans something, if Michael Crabtree is still on the board, HE WILL BE THE PICK. Remember when the Browns went 10-6? There offense was clicking and in turn took much pressure off the defense. With them trading there best offensive weapon in Winslow, and rumored to be shopping Braylon, there best WR, whos there franchise QB gonna throw to? But for now, they'll settle for Brown, who provides an upgrade over McGinest and a much better pass rush, which should benefit Kamerion Wimbley as well.
6. Cincinnati Bengals - Eugene Monroe OT -
With Crabtree and Curry off the board, as well and Jason Smith, Monroe fills the biggest need and is the safest tackle availible. The Bengals need to start protecting there franchise QB and Monroe is the best player to help them do that.
7. Oakland Raiders - B.J. Raji DT -
With Jeremy Maclin's upseting 40 time, obviously his stock plummets. (40 time is overrated) So Al Davis should then turn his attention to OT, which is 1 of the few needs the Raiders have on offense. Oher might not be worth this high a pick and Andre Smith has way too many question marks. Al Davis should then turn and look at the defensive side and Malcolm Jenkins is probably the best defender availible, forunatly they've got 1 of the best CB corps in the league so thats not a need. When you look at the Raidesr d-line, its pretty decent but Raji takes it to another level. Gerrad Warren is old, Tommy Kelly isn't worth 50 million but he needs someone to compliment him and Raji is the perfect fit, not to mention the BPA that fills the biggest need.
8. Jacksonville Jaguars - Andre Smith OT -
Jacksonvilles reason for such an upsetting season should be on there o-line. Injuries and lack of depth killed them as well and David Garrard. They also need a WR who can catch the football. But I think they roll the dice on Smith because his upside is way to high to pass up. Del Rio should get this fat boy into shape and have him dominating DE's in no time, and if he doesn't pan out at Tackle, they could always move him to Guard, cause they do have needs there as well.
9. Green Bay Packers - Malcolm Jenkins CB -
I'm sure the Packers are real upset with Raji being taken, they really could have used a penterating NT and Raji fit nicely for there 3-4. However, they should be happy Malcolm Jenkins fell this far. I think they take him over Orakpo because of the safety factor. Orakpo reminds alot of people of Gholston from last year and Jenkins is a much safer pick. With Al Harris at 34 and Woodson at 32, they could use the depth and youth.
10. San Francisco 49ers - Michael Oher OT -
Well, Raji, Brown, AND Andre are all gone. That leave them with the choice of Michael Oher or Brian Orakpo. I gave them Oher. Both might have question marks but Oher gives them a potential pro bowl RT if coached up right and him and Staley could give them the best young tackle tandem for years to come.
11. Buffalo Bills - Brian Orakpo DE -
Orakpo would be a nice fit as there DE in the 4-3 and a solid addition to an already talent line. He should tremendously improve there pass rush if he pans out alright.
12. Denver Broncos - Rey Maualuga ILB -
Despite a poor combine showing, the tape on Rey doesn't lie. He is a hard hitting, physical linebacker that fits there 3-4 perfectly.
13. Washington Redskins - Clint Sintim OLB -
Washington finds themselves screw here. With Michael Oher, Andre Smith, Everette Brown AND Brian Orakpo gone who do they pick? I considered Peria Jerry(pair him with Haynes and you get an unstopable force up the middle) Clay Matthews, Brian Cushing and even Vontae Davis, but in the end, I think they will take Sintim here. He's a gerat fit at the SLB and would do a fine job replacing Marcus Washington.
14. New Orleans Saints - Chris Wells RB -
I've said it all year long, back when they went to the NFCCG they had a reliable power run game. A guy would could wear down defenses over time and finish games. With McAlister gone, they no longer have that. Look for them to take Wells, someone who can allow them to establish the run early, let them dominate TOP and open up the play action for Brees. Give that #1 offense the missing piece, and they could very well carry that whole team all the way.
15. Houston Texans - Vontae Davis CB -
I think they will take Davis over Maybin. The Houston Texans are a team that is almost ready to make a run at the Super Bowl. They've got a ready offense, and there defense is LOADED with young talent. Mario Williams, Demeco Ryans, Amobi Okoye, and Dunta Robinson. A few missing pieces are a lockdown corner and a ballhawking safety. Robinson is a solid #1 guy but he could excel as the #2. Davis can compare to Jenkins in many ways and gives Houston a guy who can potential lockdown 1 half of the field and blanket a teams #1 WR. Adding Davis gives Houston one of the better CB duos in the game and really compliments there pass rush nicely.
16. San Diego Chargers - Tyson Jackson DE -
It's obvious Igor is not returning and Jackson is the perfect replacment. Nothing else to explain here.
17. New York Jets - Jeremy Maclin, WR, Missouri
With Rex Ryan letting it be known that the QB for next year is on the roster, the Jets should proceed and get him a guy who can catch consistently, spread the field, and work the curl and slant routes effectivly. Maclin is the perfect guy for the job and is definetly worth this pick.
18. Chicago Bears - Kenny Britt WR -
Honestly. I don't understand why people put Nicks ahead of Britt. Britt has got better speed and height than Hakeem and not to mention more aggresive. Since the Bears are gonig with Orton as the starter for next year, they should give him a tall physical WR who works the middle of the field effectively. Not to mention, he can spread the field despite his frame. He's got good speed and hieght to make him dangerous from anywhere, from deep routes, curls, slants, screens and he's a nasty blocker as well.
19. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Mark Sanchez QB -
With the Bucs adding Kellen Winslow to there offense, it shows that they are adding weapons, but for what reason? Jeff Garcia isn't happy and he's turning 40 years old this year anyways so he's not the longterm solution. McCown, Greiese and Johnson all aren't the type of QB you look for to lead your team to a super bowl. Look for Raheem Morris to get "his guy" to build a team around. Sanchez might need work, but IMO the Bucs are a team thats a work in progress and as they build up and get better, as will Sanchez.
20. Detroit Lions (from Dallas) - Peria Jerry DT -
I'm a huge believer in the saying "the games are won in the trenches" With that being said the Lions should take Jerry in attempt to rebuild that terrible run defense. Well that whole defense. They need to start up front in the trenches and Jerry is a great choice here.
21. Philadelphia Ealges - Knowshon Moreno RB -
With the departure of Corell Buckhalter who is going to take over when Westbrook gets injured? With that being said Moreno is a guy that can give Philly insurance behind Westbrook. Someone who can take 18-20 carries a game and wear down defenses. He's not a power back, but he finishes runs and more of a complete runner than Brian Westbrook.
22. Minnesota Vikings - Alphonso Smith CB -
Alphonso Smith is a playmaker. I don't care what his height is, the kid can paly football. He has great instinics, ball skills, hips, footwork, vertical jump and solid hands. If he grew 2 inches he would arguably be a top 10 pick.
23. New England Patriots - Clay Matthews OLB -
Clay Matthews is a Patriot kind of linebacker. He's smart, terrific special teamer, very versitle, very competitive, and flies to the football. He would do a fine job replacing Mike Vrabel and he's got great upside to be even better. I really wanted to give em Larry English as well, but opted for Matthews because of reasons stated above.
24. Atlanta Falcons - Brian Cushing OLB -
The Atlanta Falcons offense is super bowl caliber, and you can argue that there defense cost them there loss in the playoffs. With that being said, they should add as many young effective plamakers on the defensive side of the ball as they can. Cushing is a great fit at the strongside linebacker and would start from day 1.
25. Miami Dolphins - Larry English DE -
I usually always give the Dolphins Sean Smith here, but after an average combine, I think he will be availible at the Dolphins second rounder. So I am making this pick with the assumption that Sean Smith(who would be a great fit in Miami) will be at there 2nd rounder. Larry English on the other hand, had a great combine and was a very produtive player in college. He could be more effective than Roth and compete with Queintin Moses.
26. Baltimore Ravens - Hakeem Nicks WR -
With the Ravens losing Bart Scott, Jason Brown and potentially even Ray Lewis. Obviously there offense will have to step it up a notch and adding Nicks is the best option here. He gives Flacco a guy who is willing to go over the middle, someone who is great with yards after the catch and a solid catcher as well. They take him over DHB becasue Nicks will likely contribute more from day 1 oppose to Heyward-Bey who is more of a project.
27. Indianapolis Colts - Darrius Heyward-Bey WR -
Dayum. Heyward-Bey is a steal right here. Expect him to be a great WR in Indy playing with guys like Wayne and Gonzo. He could start at #2 since Gonzo is better in the slot and the Colts and Manning have a knack at getting the best out of there WR's and Heyward-Bey should blossom in Indy.
28. Philadelphia Eagles (from Carolina) - Louis Delmas S-
With the Eagles signing Stacy Andrews, I think they can put off tackle until the 2nd round and they could look for a WR, but Britt, Nicks, and Maclin are all gone. Now, I was suprised to see them let go of Brian Dawkins and I'm starting to wonder how there defense is going to be without his leadership and presence. Well, he's gone now and many Philly fans say Mikell will replace him, but that leaves a void at the other safety slot. Delmas is a true team leader and a very hard worker. He hits like a missile and plays the run very well.
29. New York Giants - LeSean McCoy RB -
Usually, I'd give the Giants Sintim here, but with him gone, as well as Heyward-Bey, Kenny Britt and Hakeem Nicks I was lost. I considered a corner like Darius Butler and D.J. Moore, but honestly, I don't have any idea where the Giants would go with this pick. So I gave them LeSean McCoy. With them losing Derrick Ward to FA, adding McCoy means that there run game doesn't miss a beat.
30. Tennessee Titans - Darius Butler CB -
Darius Butler had a terrific combine and I think he secured a late 1st round early second round draft pick. With that being said, Tennessee could really use a playmaker like him. He's got a great vertical leap, fine hands, amazing footwork and just a solid athlete. Him playing alongside Finnegen could give offensive cordinators nightmares.
31. Arizona Cardinals - Donald Brown RB -
Donald Brown is someone who can come and contribute and have an effect like Matt Forte on the Bears. A complete all around back who can catch the ball in open space, and a runner who can take 18-20 carries a game. His stock in on the rise and he could finally give Arizona a run game that they so desperatly need.
32. Pittsburgh Steelers - Eben Britton OT
The Steelers won the super bowl with arguably the worst offensive line in the game. Especially vs. the pass. Big Ben was running for his life trying to make plays, and if he wassn't so good at that, they wouldn't have even made the playoffs. Anyways with that being said, they need to add some youth and talent and Eben Britton is probably the best pass blocker availible and could really give Big Ben an upgrade at Tackle.
+rep to all constructive critisism and any comments are welcome. Thank you for reading my 7th mock draft of the season!
As much as I am against Detriot taking Matt Stafford, in the end, they will most likely opt for the potential franchise signal caller and Stafford is the best availible.
2. St. Louis Rams - Jason Smith OT -
