that is a pretty damn good patriots draft, nice job

Percy Harvin is not a true WR and thats what the Jets need. DHB, Nicks, and Britt are all options at 17. In the 2nd Hood is a nice pick but in the 3rd I would like to get Jennings for when Jones is gone.

First two Bears picks are great.....3rd....not so much. Seems too early for Jennings anymore and we need help at other positions. Someone like Topou who could wind up as our RT would be nice there.

Great Patriots draft. Not a big fan of the Wood pick and the entire Maybin/Matthews thing would be a tossup, but excellent job.

I pretty much HATE that Phins mock.
I LOVE Everette Brown as a prospect, but I wouldn't do that trade. I would be much happier staying at 25 and taking either Rey Maualuga, DHB or Sean Smith. Especially if we can get a guy like Ayers, Barwin or Sintim in the 2nd, who are almost as good as Brown.
And Iglesias, AKA Alligator Arms, sucks!
The only pick I really like here is Brinkley.

nice KC draft

03-06-2009, 08:25 AM
ehh...I don't know how I feel about the trade. Especially cause in round three you have us picking up Fili Moala, who would play the same position as Tyson Jackson. To be fair, I really like the stintim and Butler picks.
Overall, I would not be upset with this draft, and I like seeing some creative thinking out there. Nice Job.
with the trade, the third round pick might be better as Terrence Taylor to play NT.

OK Vikings picks. Unger is ok in the first, but I think he is more of a mid 2nd round value. I'd rather have A. Smith there, in the 2nd, Francies is ok, but I'd go with Meredith or Kropog. In the 3rd, Dillard is alright, but I'd rather take Eric Wood there, who btw is great value in the late 3rd.
You must be a Steerler fan. The Saints would never trade down 18 spots in the first for only a #64 pick! What have you been smoking? Even a second and third would be charity since the picks this year are #64 and #96. Add another 2010 third round pick and then you may have a deal. Know the value before proposing such a trade.
Alright Raider picks. If the value and need wasn't right in the second I could see us possibly pursuing one of Moore, Delmas or Johnson. Not sure we address the receiver position unless it's for Crabtree in the first so we could look elsewhere in round three, probably the interior offensive line, Duke Robinson or maybe Eric Wood.
I like the Broncos trade, though I'd rather have Jarron Gillbert or Terrance Taylor in the third round.

*
-The draft is not about plugging needs- it's about building for the future.
-There's no such thing as BPA. No one knows who each team has rated where and if the "best players" were known prior to the draft there would be no busts or steals.
-There's no such thing as a reach. If you think a player can help your team, taking him higher than his internet ranking is OK.
I just wanted to comment on your three tidbits below the draft. I especially LOVE the third one...I say it all the time...there is no such thing as a reach. I always have to laugh when people freak out for saying a player is going too early, basically because his 'ranking' is lower. That is fantastic and I'm glad to see it here and had to comment.

For the Jets:
Percy is alright, I'd prefer to go in a different direction there with Nicks or DHB. Percy brings a little too much of what we already have with Leon Washington to the table for my taste. Runs it a little, catches it some, not super polished as a wideout...obviously Percy is a receiver version but they bring some similar abilities to the table. We really need a #1 guy and I think Percy is best suited as a big play #2 who you have to get the ball in creative ways at this point. So just because of that I think one of the other receivers would be a better fit there.
The Hood pick is solid. At this point it seems like we're going to try to go DL there, or at the very least that would make sense, and Hood's an interesting guy for our scheme.
The third rounder: supposed to be John Phillips? If so it's a solid pick. Lots of directions you can go there, but Phillips could be a nice compliment to Keller and TE is absolutely a need since Keller's blocking is suspect at this point, just not really an early round need. Round 3 is a nice spot to address it, though.

If you gave the Bears Eric Wood in the 3rd, it would be the closest thing to perfect Ive seen.

Don't you dare start giving us Sanchez...
Check out the "Seattle #4" thread. You can't deny it's a possibility.
This is my dream Bengals Mock...I hope and pray it goes down this way!
I guarantee you it won't then.

with the trade, the third round pick might be better as Terrence Taylor to play NT.
Moala could put on some more weight and grow into a 3-4 NT. Terrance Taylor actually weighs less than Moala (314 to 309 I believe. I was surprised by this too!).
For the Jets:
Percy is alright, I'd prefer to go in a different direction there with Nicks or DHB. Percy brings a little too much of what we already have with Leon Washington to the table for my taste. You do need a blocking TE. Never thought of that. It was Jason Phillips, overlooked ILB from TCU.
For the Pats I hate the Maybin pick, love the Smith pick, love the Delmas pick, hate the Casey pick, and love the Wood pick.
Chris Baker signing (forgot about it at the time the mock was made) makes it less likely they take a TE. You're right.
HORRIBLE Saints draft! HORRIBLE AND CRUEL! McRath in the first? God helps us!
But in the second he's a good pick? McRath is one of the few true beats in this draft. Him getting basically no first round consideration from the media is astonishing to me, especially considering the weak 4-3 OLB class.

03-06-2009, 02:01 PM
If Paul Kruger can play as a 34 OLB in the NFL then I can't have a problem with this Browns mock. Although an 010' selection in the 1st,2nd or 3rd would probably need to be involved.

Well then that Phillips works too. Don't think he'll get much play time barring an injury with Scott and Harris in the middle, but we've got no depth there. Tight end is obviously a bigger need, but could do worse because there's a major lack of depth at the position.

Your draft trade for the Colts does NOT make any sense. They trade down and still only get 1 pick in the first 3 rounds!?!?!? I vote they stay put and take WR Darrius Heyward Bey in the 1st.

Great first round pick for the Raiders, but give us...
Williams Moore in the 2nd
Erik Wood in the 3rd
...and you got yourself one heck of a draft.

Cleveland gives up 940 points [540 for their 2nd and 400 for Tampa's] and gain a pick in the first round valued at 680. They go from 3 picks in the top 2 rounds to having 2. That early second is a VERY VERY good pick as there will be value with out any ludicrous contract. It won't happen.
Future reference:
http://www.draftcountdown.com/features/Value-Chart.php
Late picks like you stated wouldn't come close to the value and future picks are graded lower.

1. Kenneth Britt
good pick, but DHB would be the better pick.
2a. William Beatty
2b. Andre Brown
good pick, but LG is a need so Duke Robinson there is perfect
3. David Bruton
make those two changes and thats an A+ giants draft
