Orlando Pace released by St. Louis Rams
By Bill Coats
St. Louis Post-Dispatch

Orlando Pace has been released by the Rams.

Pace, 33, was taken by the Rams as the No. 1 overall pick in the 1997 draft and has been with the team since then. He was a staple at left tackle, earning seven trips to the Pro Bowl. Pace was hampered by injuries in recent seasons. A knee injury caused him to miss two games and part of a third this past season.

The Rams save $6 million under the salary cap by letting Pace go.

All for now . . . more later today, hopefully

Looks like an OT is looking ever more likely as their first pick... Even more so than before lol.

Yeah I wouldn't mind this at all. I think that doing this would clear us up to draft Crabtree or Maclin (lets hope its Crabtree).

Wonder what type of deal he will get. He has been valuable WHEN HEALTHY. However, he is rarely healthy anymore. I hate seeing him go as he has been such a stud for our team for the past 10 years. Who knows, maybe the Rams could re-sign him on the cheap, but I doubt it. Bengals, Jags, and Eagles are the first three teams to jump out as suitors.

you won't draft Curry or Crabs. Curry has already signed with KC. :D

Curry would be huge to our Defense, he's exactly what we need and players like him don't come through very often.

I'm not saying there going to be bad players, but nonetheless there won't be another Aaron Curry type player for awhile.

While there happens to be good tackles in every draft. We also have a high second pick so one of the tackles could fall.

Fast, athletic, instinctive LBs? There will be plenty of them for many years to come. The best part is- you won't have to be in the top 5 to get them.

As for legit franchise LTs- you need to be in the top five.

The main reason Curry will go so high is the lack of studs at the top.

Take your franchise LT. It's much easier to find an impact 4-3 LB somewhere else than it is finding that blindside protector.

IMO the first three picks are almost locks right now: Staff, J. Smith, Curry.

But you never know...

As for Pace- the Steelers are a VERY interesting option.

He's a good option for anyone without two tackles who would like their QB upright for at least two years.

Yah but you gotta pick someone at #2 and a (potentially) franchise LT is just so much more valuable than a (potentially) complete linebacker that it's a no-brainer. But that's just my opinion. With Spags in his first go round as head coach, no one can really say where his priorities are going to be at.

Obviously i am aware of that....and based on the title, i would hope so. That is why i said 'change'...and that was under the assumption that the creator is able to change the title. It wasn't a shot at you, i was just throwing that out there as a general comment.
