after getting curry in the first round the chiefs look to shore up their terrible pass rush with matthews here...i think they will stay in the 4-3 with curry playing s.l.b. and matthews could play d.e. or if they switch to the 3-4 curry could play ilb with matthews playing olb....great upside.

68) Seattle...S. Marks d.t. auburn

I bet Baker would be there in the 3rd, but he is a position of need. I really don't like the Vontae Davis pick. I'm not saying it's out of the realm of possibility, but I still think he is further down the board than that. I like Jackson, Cushing, and Maybin better at 12. But I really like the Kruger pick in the 3rd, so that kinda makes up for it.

So overall around a C

I really think you guys need a first day n.t. so its either going to be reaching for brace in round 1 or baker in round 2...in reality you guys would probably either trade up in round 1 to get raji or trade up in the late first/early second to get brace.

vontae is an incredible talent...one of the very few "freak" type athletes in this class...i think working with champ would help him develope into a potential shut down corner...his skill set is similiar to champs imho.

Decent Patriots draft. I think William Moore was a reach based on 2008 and I don't think New England needs an offensive lineman in the first three rounds (an offensive pick would be wide receiver.) Maualuga is pretty solid, Moore and Barwin I could see as well.

If we could get Shonn Green in the third this would be perfect.

1) william moore is an incredible talent and one of the few "freak" type athlete in this class...he will get the best coaching and could develope into a perinial pro-bowler imho.

2) i wanted to fit in a w.r. but i think adding some extra protection for brady would be a good move....plenty of solid w.r. prospects left...d.j. moore can line up at w.r. so i thought that kinda made up for it a bit.

I think there will be a run on n.t.'s in the third round plus i'm not sure that greene compliments gore very well....you could get a solid r.b. in the fourth.

I don't think you've changed the Phins draft at all... Ever!

Parcells will NOT, I repeat, WILL NOT, take a 5'9" corner. Forget about Alphonso Smith to the Phins. Or don't, because obviously I can't convince you. And once again, if we take Aaron Maybin over Hakeem Nicks, I will be FURIOUS!

There is also no way Matthews falls out of the first day. I give it ZERO chance. I'm 50-50 right now about whether he even falls out of the first round, let alone the first day.

I appreciate the effort with the 3 rounder, but if you could just NOT give us Alphonso Smith anymore, I would be much happier with you. ;)

Decent Jets draft, but really Deon Butler in the 3rd?! I'm a Penn State fan and I think that is at least 2 rounds too high.

Give us Robiskie in the 2nd and either a power back or DE in the 3rd and I wouldn't be too disappointed.

Solid enough Bears draft. I personally prefer Nicks or Britt to DHB in the first but you nailed the positions of need every time.

2) S.L....A. Smith l.t. alabama
best run blocking o.t. that I have ever seen coming out of college and has much longer arms than most expected..franchise left tackle.

Not a good pick. You seem pretty high on Smith, but you have to be realistic at this point. His stock is no longer where it was three months ago, and the Rams will stay away and go either Monroe or Smith if they want an OT.

35) S.L. ...P. Chung s.s. oregon
tremendous tackler is superb in run support...chung also has the speed and fluidity to have great range in coverage...fills a huge need at great value here.

It's no longer a huge need after they signed James Butler. Jerry, Brace, Laurinaitis, A. Smith, DJ Moore, or even Ayers would make much more sense here.

66) S.L. ...S. McKilop mlb pitt
extremely productive tackling machine had a very good combine and will quetly lead your team in tackles every year.

Okay pick.

1) even thou smith's a bit short he plays very physical and is tremendous value there.

2) I targeted robiskie in the second round for you guys because I think he will bring tremendous chemistry to your offense and is PROVEN to be a great compliment to ginn jr

3) i think bill looks for his potential future lawrence taylor type in round 1 and maybin is the best 3-4 olb available at that point imho.

4) maybin > matthews

robiskie and cotchery is not a good duo imho...who stretches the field?

there is no way rex would take robiskie over fili...fili is perfect for his system.

butler is an extremely fast w.r. with very good hands and production...MUCH better compliment to cotchery and his speed will help keep the box clear for your running game.

1) andre smith is the best o.t. in this draft and his character concerns are being blown out of proportion.

2) didnt realize you got butler...will change your pick when i reshuffle.

3) i love mckillop.

Or we could get Shonn Green in the third.....

again...i dont think green compliments gore well at all.

i would have liked to give you guys derrick williams but the jags scooped him just prior to your pick...d. will could give you some help at w.r. and would be a great compliment to gore as a change of pace/3rd down r.b.

ian johnson in the fourth?

round 1
14) N.O. ...S. Smith f.s./c.b. utah
tall d.b. with great speed, physicality and ball skills...extremely versatile d.b. would be your starter at free safety but could also play corner against the physical recievers....had a tremendous combine and would be a great fit at free safety/c.b. hybrid....sleeper

Has he shot up the boards lately?

He's simply not going second overall to the Rams. I wouldn't be surprised if he's off their draft board entirely at this point. With the kind of emphasis they've been placing on character and maturity this season and the last, he's simply not a fit with them. I'm sorry if that's not the feedback you wanted for the Rams' picks.

Great Dolphins draft. Love the Smith pick, I wouldnt mind him in the 1st.

Maybin and Robiskie are solid at their slots and Hill while a slight reach IMO still fills a solid value.

I didn't say Matthews was better than Maybin, I think both will go in the 1st. I was simply calling it absurd that you had Matthews falling all the way to the 3rd.

1) when i mock i pick who i would pick if i were the gm according to my big board and my understanding of team needs and scheme.

2) i think andre is EASILY the top l.t. prospect in this draft and his concerns are exaggerated.

i love matthews but i wouldn't quite say its "absurd" for him to go in the early third...i will admit that the chiefs get tremendous value there thou.

i disagree

smith is a tremendous athlete with more than ideal size who had great production in college...he would fill a huge need as a c.b./f.s. hybrid for you guys. Whats not to like?

1) william moore is an incredible talent and one of the few "freak" type athlete in this class...he will get the best coaching and could develope into a perinial pro-bowler imho.

2) i wanted to fit in a w.r. but i think adding some extra protection for brady would be a good move....plenty of solid w.r. prospects left...d.j. moore can line up at w.r. so i thought that kinda made up for it a bit.

I agree with both of these comments.

I would love to see Moore fall to NE even later than 34. The kid has boom written all over him if he goes to a solid environment. An upgrade at RT would be nice and Gardner could spend a year learning unless he proved better than the Snitch.

If the draft fell this way I would be happy with it - really any scenario that has Rey fall to NE to pair up w/Mayo would be incredible.

Your draft actually puts NE in position to hit on my 2nd favortie draft scenario (1st favorite would be the same except William Moore instead of Johnson)

1. (23) Rey Maualuga
2. (34) Clint Sintim
2. (47) Rashad Johnson
2. (58) Brian Robiskie

round 1

1) Detriot...M. Stafford q.b. georgia
20) Detriot (dallas)...E. Hood d.t. mizzou
33) Detriot...D. Butler c.b. uconn
65) Detriot...K. Urbrik o.g. wisonsin
82) Detriot (dallas)...H. Johnson o.g. lsu

I think this draft is fairly in touch with what Detroit might be looking to accomplish, but there are a few red flags.

First and foremost, I think it's down right negligent to commit more than $30M to a quarterback with the first pick and not use your next pick to get a LT. Unless you plan to sit Stafford out all season (which wouldn't happen -- their current roster of QB's leaves too much to be desired) and use your top pick next year to get your tackle, then you shouldn't bother with taking a quarterback at all. If you make the commitment to Stafford, then you have to be prepared to go all the way with it.

Additionally, it's pretty safe to say that Detroit is starving for talent at linebacker. Ernie Sims is the only guy on the roster who I would consider a viable NFL starter. Barring any unforeseen free agent signings at the position between now and April 25th, it's crucial that Detroit take a LB early -- if not Curry at 1, then Maualuga at 20 or Laurinaitis at 33 become probabilities.

On the positive side...

I like the Hood and Butler picks a lot. Butler would start early and Hood would rotate in for (or perhaps compliment?) Jackson and hopefully pickup where Corey Redding left off before he got paid.

On the topic of using both third round picks on guards: It's unconventional, but it's crazy enough to work. The fact that both guys are man-sized and specialize in the run game is spot on for what Jim Schwartz says they're going to try and accomplish in the trenches. However, it's fair to say that there are enough holes in their roster that taking two offensive guards in the third round is gaudy and perhaps a luxury. I'm fairly positive that Stephan Peterman will be handed the LG job, too.

All in all, I think if you were to substitute Aaron Curry at #1, the context of this draft starts to make a lot more sense. But if you're going to have Stafford at the top of the draft, smart money says that Detroit's first order of business thereafter becomes protecting their Thirty Million Dollar Man. If this were how Detroit's draft played out, I wouldn't consider it a bad thing.

Good 1st day for Oakland, but you can keep Murphy. We need a WR, and after drafting Murphy, we'll still need a WR. Make that Luigis and we're golden.

QB Josh Freeman
3rd round best WR available

1) gilbert is an absolute beast that can become a justin tuck type player in your scheme.

2) you lost both olb's from last year and you currently have a second year 6th round draft choice set to play wlb next season with no backup on the radar.

3) i think you guys will give josh johnson a legit chance before drafting a high round q.b.

4) bryant and clayton are solid starters and last years rookie d. jackson should start to develope in the slot role.

We drafted Jackson for a return guy not receiver and clayton is a bust. he has sucked excluding his rookie year.

i think the bucs are a worst team thanks to this draft. wed have a better chance at trading all are picks to Denver for Jay Cutler.
