View Full Version : Top 10 Scariest Players in NFL History

**Disclarimer: I am very bored...**

http://www.nfl.com/videos?videoId=09000d5d80ebbdc1

Their list goes...

10. Jim Brown
9. Dick "Night Train" Lane
8. Ray Lewis
7. Larry Csonka
6. Ronnie Lott
5. Larry Allen
4. "Mean" Joe Greene
3. Deacon Jones
2. Lawrence Taylor
1. Dick Butkus

Their list is historic, but I wanna know who you guys view as the most intimidating players currently are. Whether by their mean streak, intelligence, or just freakish ability. Since this is a Top 10 list, and therefore inevitably doomed to an eventual homerfest by the usual culprits, there's a rule: Do not list your own team's players. Since we're listing the players that we find intimidating when our team faces them, it makes no sense to list our own players as there's no way for us to objectively judge them from our own perspective.

Anyway, my list is...

10. Bob Sanders, S
9. Devin Hester, PR/KR
8. Shawne Merriman, OLB
7. Tom Brady, QB
6. Ray Lewis, ILB
5. Nnamdi Asomugha, CB
4. DeMarcus Ware, OLB
3. Peyton Manning, QB
2. Adrian Peterson, RB
1. Lamarr Woodley, OLB

I'm sure I forgot someone and will smack myself in the head later. Albert Haynesworth would definitely be in there for me, but since he just left the Titans, I can't even though I could on technicality. Mario Williams, Julius Peppers, and Jared Allen...The NY Giants DL (God they're gonna be scary next year with the additions of Boley, Canty, and Umenyiora coming back). The Pittsburgh OLB's, the Indy DE's, and the Vikings DT's. Big John Henderson pre-2008. Kris Jenkins pre-Week 13. Could keep going, but I'll stop there.

IDK about doinga top 10, but I think Ed Reed is the "scariest". You have to know where he is at all times, he'll hit you hard and is a threat to take it to the house each time he gets his hands on the ball

If you disagree, put up your own. The whole reason I made a thread was to see others' opinions.

sorry to go off subject just a little the nfl top 10 historic list and it doesnt have one of the scariest and most intimidating player which is Jack "the assassin" Tatum. Then again i assume this list isnt purely on intimidation by fear of getting hit by that person.

I've met him in person (west palm beach airport)...and you are correct, but when it comes to football...he's scary. Anybody who can just shred your team for 400 yards and 3td's any given sunday is scary to me.

My thoughts anyway. Especially after seeing him systematically carve up the Titans DEF in the past.

I think people have different definitions of "scary"

Peyton Manning, Ben Roethlisberger.....they're SCARY GOOD, not Scary like "man I'm going to piss my pants."

The Original list was a "man i'm going to piss my pants" list.

The historical list is mainly comprised of guys who would just knock the piss out of you so I dont see how you can make a list with PR and QB's on it... also the historical list is missing Jack "The Assasin" Tatum... the hardest hitter to ever play the game and the meanest SOB in the history of football... I dont care what you have to say about anyone else, anyone who paralyzes a guy on the field deserves the honor of scariest player ever.

I was wondering when someone would bring him up. James Harrison is much scarier than Woodley IMO. Woodley seems like an alright guy, Harrison seems very angry. There's a reason his teammates nicknamed him and always refer to him as "Deebo"

i'm not sure what everyone is saying, but if somebody murders somebody and that person goes on to kill another person because nobody snitched him out then everybody's hands are a little red. its a personal choice though on how much a person can take or will do for a murderer/manslaughterer/jaywalker/whatever. its different in every situation though, but a dude was killed. i'm sure his family might have wanted to know why/how/who.

Actually that's not true at all.

Lewis agreed to plead guilty to obstruction of justice because he lied to police, a lesser charge, and agreed to testify against his co-defendants in order not to get prosecuted further. Even with his testimony, the other guys got off.

In conclusion, he did snitch, (not that snitching on murder is a bad thing).
