JULIAN PETERSON THE NEXT VETERAN TO BE CUT? (http://www.profootballtalk.com/2009/03/14/julian-peterson-the-next-veteran-to-be-cut/)

KJR-AM in Seattle reported Friday that the Seahawks soon will release linebacker Julian Peterson (http://blog.seattletimes.nwsource.com/seahawks/2009/03/13/report_julian_p.html).

Per Mike Sando of ESPN.com, Peterson has declined to reduce his salary (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3979489).

I would not mind the Bears signing him to be our new SAM.

I wonder why'd they cut him. True he's a bit old, but he can still make plays and his veteran presence can't hurt 1 bit.

Sounds like they are making room cap wise for this guy...

This should be interesting. Makes my Marcus Freeman pick in the second round of my last mock draft look considerably better. =P

Now they're saying that Peterson would be involved, along with a draft pick, in the trade for Redding. You've got to think that Peterson would effectively end the talk of Curry going #1 overall

Our pal Tom Kowalski of Mlive.com reports that, indeed, the Detroit Lions (http://www.profootballtalk.com/2009/03/14/redding-trade-talks-confirmed/#)are in talks that would send defensive tackle Cory Redding to the Seahawks.

Kowalski reports, and we’ve confirmed, that the deal would ship linebacker Julian Peterson to Detroit (http://www.mlive.com/lions/index.ssf/2009/03/rumor_lions_might_trade_cory_r.html).

We’re told that the Lions also would get a draft pick.

Now it just makes it make some sense :P

I'll miss Peterson but he's getting older. I'm thankful for what he did here in Seattle the last few seasons but I'm not mad about this. Looks like Hill will be our new SAM.

actually wait, no, this is the typical old person bust kind of signing the skins would do, so i say dont sign him if infact he ever does get released.

they let shawn cody go too. they signed grady jackson but he's not going to be able to stay on the fields for three downs every series. they have a huge need for a dt now.
