First day. Out the box I think.
anyone know this line..
"you don't want the boot" Cube.

Proposed trades:

Peppers to NE for the #23, #47 (hasn’t signed the tender yet
which could mean he’s serious about leaving and waiting
for his agent to put the deal in place)
Vikings trade up to S.D.#16 and give up their #86 and a 010’ cond. (thinking the
Vikings are real likely to go after a NFL ready QB prospect )
Panthers trade up with the #23pk (they get from NE) to NY Jets #17 for their #59
(Panthers locked up Jake but can’t be serious about him still
as long term starter.)
Lions trade back up to #26 giving the #33 ,#65 to Baltimore. (three blue
chip at key needs better than 5 so so’s and they still have a 3rd .)

ROUND 1
___________________________________________

1 Detroit: Matthew Stafford QB
Got the bazooka and can run-he’ll need to-offensively the
Lions have other skill positions in place and the QB is
harder to fill than the OT.

2 St. Louis: Jason Smith OT
Rams need to take the best LT in this class-Smith?

3 Kansas City: Aaron Curry LB
Chief Curry

4 Seattle: Eugene Monroe OT
Hard to figure where the Hawks will look. Monroe is a top
5 LT prospect and drafting Jones replacement looks to make
the most sense for the Hawks.

5 Cleveland: Michael Crabtree WR
Slowly coming around to this-WR situation making Crabtree almost
a necessity. OC Daboll’s WR’s in NE were playmakers and more quick
than fast-Crab fits that mold.

6 Cincinnati: Andre Smith OT
Character concerns a little overblown with Smith-Lewis will make him
work and he can hold down the right at a high level. With the defense
finally stepping up thanks to Zimmer the Bengals have to protect Carson
and continue to run the ball like they did late in the season.

7 Oakland: B.J. Raji DT
Even though it didn’t look like it last season J.Walker is a #1
WR. The Raiders will be a beast of a running team and if
they hold up better against the run could force opponents to
tap out.

8 Jacksonville: Percy Harvin WR
I’ve been a fan of Harvin and his pro day performance finally justifies him
as a potential top 15. Del Rio has shown no problem reaching for his guys
and will let Percy do his thing for the Jags offense. Holt (if signed)
would make an ideal tutor for Harvin.

9 Green Bay: Brian Orakpo LB/DE
If Kevin Greene can’t make a pro bowler out of Orakpo
no one will.

10 San Francisco: Everette Brown LB/DE
More than just a rush specialist with coaching.

11 Buffalo: Peria Jerry DT
Pass rush is the pressing need and Jerry will provide that.

12 Denver: Aaron Maybin DE/LB
High upside 34 OLB the converting Bronco defense
can’t pass.

13 Washington: Michael Oher OT
Pressing need is filled-Skins could only hope he’s still on the board.

14 New Orleans: Chris Wells RB
Beanie is the closer the Saints needed in 08’ and is too good of a
prospect to pass. Jenkins is not a great fit for the Saints man scheme.
and the addition of vets Sharper/Prioleau makes S slight less need.

15 Houston: Malcolm Jenkins DB
Whether it’s at CB or FS Jenkins should upgrade the Texans defense.

16 TRADE Minnesota: (via San Diego) Mark Sanchez QB
Vikings make the move for their new franchise QB and the Chargers are
happy to move down and acquire more picks.

17 TRADE Carolina (via N.Y. Jets) Robert Ayers DE
With few premiere DE's in this class Panthers trade up for Peppers replacement

18 Chicago: Kenny Britt WR
Britt's stock is up because he's got some TO in him-
hopefully the good part.

19 Tampa Bay: Josh Freeman QB
Hate settling for this as it's becoming cliche in
most mocks but reasoning makes since as long as Morris
indeed thinks highly of the guy

20 Detroit (from Dallas): Rey Maualuga LB
Schwartz turns the most glaring defensive weakness into a strength in an
off-season.

21 Philadelphia: Brandon Pettigrew TE
Reid will be able to run the ball this season if he chooses to. Adds a
red zone presence that’s lacking.

22 TRADE San Diego (via Minnesota): Tyson Jackson DE
Acquire picks and select blue chip prospect at their need.

23 TRADE N. Y. Jets via Car. (from NE): Jeremy Maclin WR
Home run counterpart to Jerricho and makes whichever QB better.

24 Atlanta: Brian Cushing LB
Should be handed the WLB spot.

25 Miami: Hakeem Nicks WR
Really like the nick name Miami Bey but Nicks is a true #1
prospect at WR the Fins need.

26 TRADE Detroit: (via Baltimore) William Beatty OT
Ravens can trade down and still fill needs while the Lions
get a needed LT with a 3rd 1st rd pick.

27 Indianapolis: Evander Hood DT
Should be the defensive steal of the 1st round for the Colts.

28 Philadelphia from Carolina: Knowshon Moreno RB
Expect a trade up for Knowshon (Browns?) but he fills Eagles
need of a power compliment in 09’and can take over the reins
eventually.

29 N.Y. Giants: Darrius Heyward-Bey
Helps counter the absence of Plax if Eli can throw that far.

30 Tennessee: Eben Britton OT
If they’re aren’t ant 1st rd grade WR available the Titans are
in a position to take the best value. Depth at T and
G is thin which means Collins is an injured OL away from
becoming a disaster because he’s a totally different QB
under pressure.

31 Arizona: Larry English LB
Starting OLB for the Cards full fledged 34 defense.

32 Pittsburgh: Max Unger OL
Could start at LG or Upgrade at C.

ROUND 2
____________________________________________

33 TRADE Baltimore: (via Detroit) Darius Butler CB
The man scheme the Ravens run fits the abilities of Butler more so
than Sean Smith.

34 New England (from Kansas City): Eric Wood OL
Competes for a start inside-provides depth(in a pinch RT) and
long replacement for Coppen.

35 St. Louis: Donald Brown RB
Jackson Brown-Spags new band.

36 Cleveland: Conner Barwin DE/LB
Reach? Upside through the roof for Rob Ryan to groom…er
coach up.

37 Seattle: Louis Delmas S
Russell’s starting days over.

38 Cincinnati: Alex Mack OL
Pressing need.

39 Jacksonville: Alphonso Smith CB
New DC Tucker can coach this 5’9er up to be a great starter.

40 Oakland: Patrick Chung S
Ka-Chung!

41 Green Bay: Ron Brace DT
Key cog in the new 34.

42 Buffalo: Michael Johnson DE
Expecting to score some points the Bills might go for their
pass rush with gusto-all Johnson needs to do for now is what he
does best-fly upfield and chase.

43 San Francisco: Vontae Davis CB
We’re brothers-we’re happy and we’re singing- Singletary
smackin r egos cause we’re full of... Give us a hi-five. lol….
Headcase drops imo and becomes a good value here.

44 Miami (from Washington): Sean Smith CB
Physical Cromartie sized CB can compete/handed start as rookie.

45 N.Y. Giants (from New Orleans): Duke Robinson G
BOPA after off season attention on the D line.

46 Houston: Clay Matthews LB
Texans looking for a SLB and a situational rusher/blitzer.

47 TRADE Carolina (from NE (from SD): Marcus Freeman LB
Upgrades the SLB spot making an elite athletic LB corp.

48 Denver: Coye Francies CB
Young and willing to learn from the best

49 Chicago: Paul Kruger DE/LB
Energetic hustler can contribute immediately

50 Cleveland (from Tampa Bay): Jarius Byrd S
Pool might be more suited for SS and Byrd’s ballhawking could help the CBs
Frees up WR/RB/QB/RS/Gnr Cribbs from some PR duties.

51 Dallas: Brian Robiskie WR
Hands, height should help out Romo.

52 N.Y. Jets: Gerald Cadogan OT
Athletic ability and smarts to start and sing the
national anthems.

53 Philadelphia: LeSean McCoy RB
Should try being like BW now.

54 Minnesota: Phil Loadholt OT
A legitimate reach but fits the run oriented
offense well.

55 Atlanta: Will Moore S
Lawyer Milloy v. 2

56 Miami: Kraig Urbik G/T
Physical drive blocker for LG

57 Baltimore: Clint Sintim DE/LB
Versatility and toughness should blend in well.

58 New England: Rashad Johnson S
Disciplined and should be a reliable cover S

59 TRADE N.Y. Jets (via Car.): Jarron Gilbert DE
Learns the 5 tech.

60 N.Y. Giants: Andre Brown RB
Earth, earth and fire.

61 Indianapolis: Juaquin Igelsias WR
Imo could be better than prospected in the Colt offense.

62 Tennessee: D.J. Moore CB/KR
RS and could learn from Harper/Finn for a year
helping in the nickel.

63 Arizona: Andy Levitre G
Hog.

64 Pittsburgh: Victor Harris CB
Solid fit for Tomlin secondary.

ROUND 3
___________________________________________

65 TRADE Baltimore (via Det) Mohamed Massaquoi WR
Clutch and solid all the way around except for the
occasional drop.

66 St. Louis: James Laurinaitis LB
Can compete with Draft for the inside spot

67 Kansas City: Cody Brown LB/DE
Developmental rusher and glaring Chief need

68 Seattle: Mike Mickens CB
Need pick for weak secondary.

69 Dallas: (from Cleveland) Jasper Brinkley LB
Slight reach but Brooking is only short term

70 Cincinnati: Rashad Jennings RB
Similar to Perry but probably not a bust.

71 Oakland: Louis Murphy WR
Back to the classic Al kind of pick-field stretcher.

72 Jacksonville: Brandon Gibson WR
Underrated guy who’ll show up on 3rd down.

73 Green Bay: Troy Kropog OT
Depth guy. Good zone prospect.

74 San Francisco: T.J. Lang OT
Old school battler competes at either OT spot

75 Buffalo: Shawn Nelson TE
#2 TE? might fill Bills need

76 N.Y. Jets (from New Orleans): Shonn Greene RB
Short yadage and depth.

77 Houston: Sen Derrick Marks DE
Inside penetrator helps the pass rush

78 San Diego: Antoine Caldwell C/G
Chargers in need of run blockers inside.

79 Denver: Alex Magee DE
Athletic 5tech in need of a little coaching

80 Washington: Lawrence Sidbury DE
Good speed for a situational rusher

81 Tampa Bay: Keenan Lewis CB
Unheralded press CB with upside

82 Detroit (from Dallas): Fili Moala DT
Should add some pass rush in the interior

83 Green Bay (from N.Y. Jets): Travis Beckum TE
Local guy looking like a sleeper coming back from
injury-competes with Finley for the start.

84 Chicago: Jason Watkins OT
Depth OT

85 Philadelphia: David Veikune DE
Could stack some sacks to team’s total in Philly’s
aggressive defense.

86 San Diego (via Minnesota): Don Carey CB
Press CB with upside for always struggling Charger secondary.

87 Miami: Ramses Barden WR
Could bring what Wilford left in Jacksonville

88 Baltimore: Ricky Jean-Francois DE
Upside and strong vet leadership to keep him in line

89 New England: Dorell Scott DT
34NT insurance for Wilfork in 010’

90 Atlanta: Vance Walker DT
Plugger who can contribute early

91 N.Y. Giants: Jared Cook TE
Situational pass catching TE/WR helps offset Plax loss. BOPA!

92 Indianapolis: Mitch King DT
Inside outside card puncher.

93 Carolina: James Casey TE
Pure pass catcher brings freshness to a stale offense

94 Tennessee: Brandon Tate WR
Could pay big dividends when he’s completely healthy.

95 Arizona: Johnathan Luigs C
Hog.

96 Pittsburgh: Corvey Irvin DE
Youth upfront.

97 New England: Pat White QB/WR
Belicheck looks for talented versatile guys for
key situations.

98 Cincinnati: Cornelius Ingram TE
Utecht was one of the reasons for the terrible 08’

99 Chicago: Darcell McBath S
Competes for a start at FS

100 NY Giants: Michael Hamlin S
Solid S prospect and STer can start eventually.[

Perfect first pick for Oakland. Chung in the second is nice as well though one could argue for Moore. Murphy in round three is not so good and at that point I'd finally look to add a tackle like Kropog possibly.

No way Unger would replace Kemeoutu. Not a chance. As for Center not bad Hartwig is aging. But we need a tackle. Not a bad pick though, I'd prefer a Tackle first round though

Solid mock overall.

NE needs a safety. The players you have them taking are nice, but not a positions that need a starter. Sanders is ok, but Moore/Delmas would be an upgrade and bump Sanders back to the backup role where he belongs.

Since you're doing trades, perhaps NE could move up to 54 with one of their 3rd round (#97 comp pick) or even a 4th?

FANTASTIC!!! RAVENS TRADE!! Dude I'd be so happy with that trade. And I love Butler and Sintim, but how do we pass on Vontae in the 2nd? I think the Mohamed Massaquoi pick should either be James Laurinatis or Shawn Nelson instead.

The trade was fantastic but you missed out on some great players for us. Still a good draft with Butler and Sintim

I thought about Delmas-but next to Meriweather that's some smurf safeties. Moore might need a while to start at FS.

Considering the Vikings traded for Sugar Sage, have stated that the their will be an open competition between Sage and TJack, and aren't even interested in Cutler I doubt they select a QB at all in the draft, let along trade up in the first for one. That is just the way Childress roles and I want to punch him in the face for it.

Wood is the best interior OL in the draft-AFC north and east teams are all over him.(u don't want a repeat for Brady!) Kruger could be the next Bruschi. White could be a legit back up but I get you-there's zero sexiness.

Not only am I not a fan of any of the players you gave to the PATS I can guarantee you....Peppers will NOT be coming to NE. This is a deep draft so the picks are more valuable. The money you would have to give Peppers is too much and means they would likely lose Seymour or Wilfork after the season. Peppers has never played in the 3-4 so it's a big crap shoot and BB doesn't like that. Plus the PATS don't have enough cap room to sign Peppers so they would also have to cut someone now. (Ain't happenin')

I bet you Jason Taylor ends up in NE. He HAS played in a 3-4; would cost far less money; BB likes to bring in seasoned veterans who have been successful with a low risk-high reward scenario; and Taylor wouldn't cost us any compensation or the likelyhood that we'd lose Seymour or Wilfork (neither of whom would I trade straight up for Peppers in the D that the PATS use.

Would you make this trade...#1, #2, Jason Taylor, US$10mm, plus the loss of an All Pro DL for Peppers? I wouldn't. And would bet BB wouldn't either.

03-27-2009, 04:25 PM
I'm not sure the Broncos can afford to go 3 rounds and not get any help for the DL.

Obviously, you like Maybin. I'm a little less sold on him - plenty of potential, but raw. I'm not sure our defense can afford to bring in a guy in who is going to need a lot of development... we need help now.

Getting some veterans for the secondary was a major focus of FA. It seems a little overkill to then spend 2 of our 3 top picks to address that area as well.

It's not so much that I want sexiness. But that's a lot of "could-be's" and it doesn't address the major holes the team has. In addition to that the Peppers deal puts them in a huge bind financially making it almost impossible to retain Wilfork and Mankins next season. In fact Peppers would have to take quite a large pay cut this year just for the Pats to fit him in under this year's salary cap.

I agree that this draft is deep so I wouldn't want to give up that much for Peppers.
As others have said- he'll come with a high price tag
but if this trade did occur then Im sure he'd agree to take a big cut
'cause it's the only way the Pats would do it.
So when I see this trade happen in mock- I also assume the pay cut.

With that- I'm not comfortable giving up two 1st day draft picks for him
If the Pats wait to the last second I think we could get Peppers for the 34th pick like the early reports said

Lastly, we need a safety. W.Moore or Delmas at 34 would be great IMO

without peppers our defense sucks so we need a DE and not to mention we already have DL problems and we also need a TE so our offense isnt just smith and williams. this is not a team that needs to pick a guy that will only helps us 2 years from now he need help for next year or we will need up in the bottom of the division

The first 2 Miami picks are aweSOME, the second 2 picks are awFUL!

We alreay have our starters on the Offensive line , who are all young and solid. We would only draft an offensive lineman for depth and we can wait on that until the later rounds. And our receivers are weak, but our tight ends are very young and solid. Clint Sintim and Pat White would be better picks that those spots.

A draft of: 1. Hakeem Nicks, 2. Sean Smith, 2. Clint Sintim, and 3. Pat White would be absolutely breathtaking!

I wouldn't blame anyone for not wanting Freeman. I love all these HUGE quarterbacks with huge arms that can throw the ball 100 yards or so from their knees. OMGZZZZZZZ he's 6'6" 260 pounds!!!! FIRST ROUND PICK!!!

It's crap. Everyone compares him to JaMarcus and Daunte like that's a good thing. Daunte sucked without Moss, and JaMarcus just plain sucks. JMHO.

Why would Peppers take a huge pay cut. He's 29. This is his time to score big. He just had 14.5 sacks and this could be his last big score. IT AIN'T happenin'! I bet Jason Taylor signs though, but even if a deal was struck with him, which I bet has already been done, He won't be coming until June/July. He wants to be with his kids and the PATS don't want to show him favoritism, which the other players would see. Therefore they keep quiet...the PATS are good at that.

BB like to get players that have done well against the PATS... Morris, Welker, Lewis. Harrison, Thomas AND TAYLOR has done great against the PATS. Peppers has never had a single sack against the PATS even in the Super Bowl.

This stupid rumor was started by the same moron who said the PATS filmed the walk through which wasn't true. The teams can't work out trade comensation nor even talk about Peppers with each other because Peppers isn't under contract. The only one who the PATS could talk to is Peppers agent and he can't negotiate compensation (so how can #34 be thrown around) and he has said publically that the PATS have NEVER contacted him.

Please people get off this Peppers stuff.

1. Kenny Britt (good)
2a. Duke Robinson (A++++ pick)
2b. Andre Brown (if you mean donald its an okay pick, but id prefer DJ Moore or us trading up for Sintim would be most likely)
3a. Jared Cook (very naace)
3b. Michael Hamlin (COURTNEY GREENE FTW!!!!!!!)

This is hands down the worst Pats mock i have ever seen.

Officially for the Pats fans-thinking was that Peppers is the best available (maby) OLB this off season-next the biggest priority has got to be to fortify the line for Brady-aging interior-Wood is a blue chip inside guy-next Kruger reminds me of Bruschi-3 rd guys are strictly for depth. lol went from "a great Pats mock' in my 2nd to the worst! If i do another maby i'll end up in the middle.;)
btw-still early to write off that trade just yet but i get u.

I think if New England went veteran, they'd take Jason Taylor. Much cheaper, and don't have to give up any draft picks. Belichick really likes him and that's been rumored. Even so, they'd need a future OLB. Personally I'm hoping the Pats draft:

1. OLB
2. FS
2. OG
2. WR/DL

Jarron Gilbert in the 2nd would be better to get some D line help, or Fili Moala in the 3rd. Either way, we need some 3-4 DEs.

Overall solid, but still didn't address the defensive line.

It's extremely unlikely the Titans will take an OL in the 1st, as they prefer to coach up later round talent. If they're left to pick for depth at 30, they'd very likely go DL or LB before OL.
