I've heard reports that if Trent Green gets released he could sign with the Lions because of his relationship with Mike Martz.

Why in the world would the Lions sign him when they have an Pretty good QB in kitna even younger then green and McCown as a backup and maybe..jus maybe also Drafting Brady Quin

For the last time, Josh McCown is dog doo as a QB. They switched him to WR, shouldn't that say something?

I also could see them trading with the Cardinals for the 5th pick. So in return the Cardinals get there desperately needed LT in Joe Thomas and the Lions could draft Brady Quinn at the 5th pick.

I'm not a huge McCown supporter, but he's extremely athletic (as stated by Martz). Kitna was the starter, and the coaches thought they could mix some formations up with McCown as a WR.

So, no... it means nothing.

That would be a terrible signing.. unless he signs on to be a coach of some sort.

If he does guy, he has a good number one something he doesn't have in KC and that is Roy Williams. I could see him doing some damage but I could also see another 4-12 season.

actually rumor has it KC and Miami are talking about trading him for a late draft pick

This won't happen, Martz has already said he is happy with Kitna as their QB, maybe, if Green is released, he goes to a team in need of a starting QB, like the Raiders, but I doubt they pass up the chance to draft JaMarcus Russell. Wait Gree could start for a year or two until Russell would take over. That isn't a bad idea, but it would be bad for Green, having to go to the Raiders, behind that line that has people tear through it like it is a peice of paper. This may sound stupid to everyone else, but it may be a possible idea.

certainly possible but I think Miami is the most likely given his history with Cam Cameron and Terry Shea

I doubt the Lions sign Green, they already have 2 vet QBs, they need a young guy.

bingo. Miami seems like the best fit to me. Let him and Culpepper battle it out.

Although moving him to a WR doesn't say much about his QB abilities, his tremendous history of suck does.

The Lions messed up Joey Harrington, Rogers, Williams, and basically Kevein Jones. So what do they all have in common? A horrible OL to work with, when are they going to learn and draft an OL?

"and the Lions could draft Brady Quinn at the 5th pick."

The Browns are looking heavily into Quinn at #3.

Get back to me on that one... and how McCown was excpected to thrive in that environment (without a RB like Edge).

When healthy, KJones will still be the starting RB for the Lions.

Oh no! Not an internet rumor! Why do most teams pick in the top 5? They have a lot of holes. Of course the Browns are looking into Quinn... they're also looking into Peterson. It means nothing until draft day.

Side note: the OLine experienced a slew of injuries last year. They've added some players, but don't feel that it's as big of a need as other holes on the team.

What makes you think he would do any better with what was the worst rushing offense in the NFL last year?

The Lions did not even send anyone to watch Quinn workout.

They aren't drafting a QB, face it.

McCown didn't have a great opportunity in Arizona... and grading his talent on that one situation is ignorant.

As much as I agree that the Lions will NOT draft a QB in round 1, they DID send someone to Quinn's Pro Day.

Here's a random source:
http://ncaafootball.aolsportsblog.com/2007/03/05/all-32-nfl-teams-show-up-for-brady-quinns-pro-day/
Brady Quinn got his chance to show off his stuff for the NFL on his home turf, as Notre Dame hosted its first of two Pro Days. Representatives from all 32 teams were there, although the Cleveland Browns (who have the third pick) and the Minnesota Vikings (who have the seventh pick) put on the full-court press,
I heard that somewhere else as well, but the report was false.

IF the Lions draft a QB, it'll be Drew Stanton. They've said time and time again that they love this kid and think he'll be dominant in this league.

I misunderstood you then. I thought you were trying to say that he could possibly be the future in Detroit since he was in such a bad situation last time.

I misunderstood you then. I thought you were trying to say that he could possibly be the future in Detroit since he was in such a bad situation last time.Nah. I'm saying that Martz moving him to WR for a few games last year does NOT mean that he can't be a QB in this league.

And, his situation in Arizona doesn't mean he's a horrible QB... it means he's a horrible QB without a running game and without an OLine.
