I got negative rep going on really hard and have not made a mock yet this year. So I figured since I can't go to sleep maybe getting one up would be a good idea. Hope yall enjoy it!
1) Detroit Lions: Matthew Stafford/QB/Georgia- A franchise quarterback and a starting point for this franchise to build around.
2) St. Louis Rams: Eugene Monroe/OT/Virginia- The Rams need an offensive tackle to put on the other side of Orlando Pace and eventually replace him.
3) Kansas City Chiefs: Aaron Curry/LB/Wake Forest- The Chiefs would rather trade back and draft an Everette Brown but they're very satisfied with the best defensive prospect in this draft now on their roster.
4) Seattle Seahawks: Jason Smith/OT/Baylor- A franchise left tackle to replace Walter Jones.
5) Cleveland Browns: Brian Orakpo/DE(OLB)/Texas- A pass rusher for that Cleveland 3-4 defense. Something they need with Kamerion Wimbley jumping on the failboat last year.
6) Cincinnati Bengals: Micheal Crabtree/WR/Texas Tech- A reciever to replace Houshmenzadeh(sp?) with. Hell, if this works out as well as it should maybe he replaces a disgruntled Chad Johnson. I really like Crabtree in an offense he can just go out and play football in.
7) Oakland Raiders: Jeremy Maclin/WR/Missouri- The Raiders just flat out need a wide reciever...Gods speed Jeremy...
8) Jacksonville Jaguars: Percy Harvin/WR/Florida- The Jaguars pick a top 10 talent without a true football position. Hopefully their homestate product can make the transition fast enough to save David Gerrards job.
9) Green Bay Packers: Everette Brown/DE(LB)/Florida State- I almost reached for Oher here becuase he is going to be a very good O-lineman. However, the need for a linebacker now and possibly in the near future is to great for the Packers to pass up Brown.
10) San Fransisco 49ers: Mark Sanchez/QB/USC- The Niners go home excited no matter how good/bad the rest of their draft goes. They got a young franchise QB to pair with their new coach. Hopefully Sanchez is an open guy and has no problem talking about his personal life to his head coach.
11) Buffallo Bills: Brandon Pettigrew/TE/Oklahoma State- A guy who can help protect Trent Edwards so he can get the ball to T.O and Co. Brandon Pettigrew is even an excellent reciever.
12) Denver Broncos: B.J Raji/DT/Boston College- The nose tackle for that new Broncos 3-4 defense. In my mind a perfect selection.
13) *Washington Redskins*(HTTR!!!): Michael Oher/OT/Ole Miss- The Redskins went from 6-2 to 8-8 last year for one reason and one reason only. Their offensive lineman played like old men. You can't do anything in the NFC East when your trenches are weak.
14) New Orleans Saints: Malcom Jenkins/CB(S)/Ohio State- You can argue the Saints just drafted the best defensive back in the draft to their historically awfull secondary.
15) Houston Texans: Brian Cushing/OLB/USC- Man, I wanted to pick Beanie Wells here. Slaton/Wells would be a dominant running back combination. However, I feel like the Texans want to keep building that defense.
16) San Diego Chargers: Rey Maualuga/ILB/USC- An excellent choice to fit into the middle of that 3-4 defense. If he can keep his head on straight that San Diego LB corps could be something special.
17) New York Jets: Kenny Britt/WR/Rutgers- As good of a reciever Jerricho Cotchery is if the Jets are gonna do anything this year their going to have to get another wide reciever opposite of him. Kenny Britt is supposedly a headcase. I've heard many stories about how hard this dude works and is totally different than a diva. Good enough for me.
18) Chicago Bears: Darrius Heyward-Bey/WR/Maryland- The Bears are glad to see a wide reciever there. They now love the speed/potiential of their #1 and #2 wide recievers. It's time to develop them with that Pro Bowl Quarterback in your hands Lovie...
19) Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Peria Jerry/DT/Ole Miss- I figured Aaron Maybin or Tyson Jackson would be a good fit here. Then I saw Jovan Hayes numbers last year. The Bucs are going to need some penetration up the middle to stop Micheal Turner, Stewart/Williams, and Thomas/Bush. Hopefully Carter and "Stylez G"(lol wtf?) can turn in at the very least one more good year.
20) Detroit Lions(FROM DALLAS): Andre Smith/OT/Alabama- Detroit grabs a very talented offensive lineman to protect Matthew Stafford. Some people said draft Jason Smith #1 overall! Well, Detroit goes home looking pretty **** smart with two top 5 talents from the SEC in the first round. However, conditioning will remain a tremendous question mark...
21) Philidelphia Eagles: Chris "Beanie" Wells/HB/Ohio State- The Eagles get an excellent running back prospect added to their roster to pair up with Brian Westbrook. This duo combined with Donavon McNugget could cuase some SERIOUS trouble for the Eagles NFC East buddies.
22) Minnesota Vikings: Vontae Davis/CB/Illinois- I don't like this guy as a football player at all. Excellent prospect but major character concerns. You cannot deny this guys physical talent and the Vikings need a cornerback next to Antoine Winfield.
23) New England Patriots: Connor Barwin/OLB/Cincinnati- I could see Bill Belichick doing something like this. Barwin has alot of potiential and if anybody can help him fulfill it, Bill Belichick can. Could definately see this guy being used how Mike Vrabel was used on goal lines.
24) Atlanta Falcons: Aaron Maybin/DE/Penn State- The Falcons need defensive help period this off-season. I've learned from watching my Redskins sail in a bucket full of crap that the best way to help that side of the football no matter how strong you already are there is add to the line on that side of the ball.
25) Miami Dolphins: Tyson Jackson/DE/LSU- Parcells Miami version of Marcus Spears. This is a situation of best value on the board over need.
26) Baltimore Ravens: Clay Matthews/OLB/USC- A linebacker to replace Bart Scott who left via free agency to the NY Jets.
27) Indianapolis Colts: Alphonso Smith/CB/Wake Forest- A pick for the future. Marlin Jackson is a free agent next year and they will need a replacement. Alphonso Smith can be an elite cornerback on that team and create turnovers for Peyton and the rest of the crew. Robiskie is also an option here.
28) Philidelphia Eagles(FROM CAROLINA): William Moore/FS(SS)/Missouri- I love this guys size at 6 feet 221 pounds. Not to mention he is a playmaker. This guy should be able to hold down the void left by Brian Dawkins for years to come. Just don't man him up againts S.Moss :) .
29) New York Giants: Brian Robiskie/WR/Ohio State- It's obvious who the Giants are trying to replace with this pick. All of the elite wide reciever prospects of this draft are gone. However, Brian Robiskie measuring in at 6 foot 2 inches 210 pounds is probably the best option here. While I think Robiskie will contribute this upcoming season. I think the Giants will lean much harder on the very talented Dominik Hixon out of Akron and Amani Toomer.
30) Tennessee Titans: James Laurinaitis/ILB/Ohio State- The Titans have a gap to fill at the middle linebacker position. They have always been mediocore there but now they hope James Laurinaitis can bring that position to higher level of player. A good guy who a welcome addition to any team according to www.draftcountdown.com scott wright :) .
31) Arizona Cardinals: LeSean McCoy/HB/Pittsburgh- People are getting wrapped up in combine numbers. Theres people saying LeSean McCoy isn't explosive or fast enough for the NFL game. Theres some football players that are just gifted at the game of football and you got to ignore all the combine crap. LeSean McCoy is one of them and if you don't believe me look at the film. I like Moreno, especially his passion for the game, but McCoy is just on a different level while running the ball. I know I'll recieve criticism for this pick.
32) Pittsburgh Steelers: Eben Britton/OT/Arizona- I don't really know what the Steelers are doing resigning some of their offensive lineman if they were so bad last year. Then again they did win the Super last year so...anyway. Eben Britton is a slight suprise slipping down here to the Steelers. Ben Roethlisburger can breath a little easier now.
There you have it. My first draft is completed. Of course of I did his in the freakin middle of the night so I might wake up tomorrow and say "wtf was I thinking" but here I go.
